Pokemon Competitive Singles has seen a big shakeup with the release of Gen 9's new DLC. Weavile famously suffered a massive fall to RU in the earlier stages of Gen 9, but with this new DLC it regained one of its most powerful options, Knock Off.
With the competitor Chien-Pao no longer allowed in OU and a much faster paced Metagame recently, Weavile has seen a significant increase in viability.

Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on TH-cam. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

Weavile's entire arc this gen was waiting for all the other op ice types to be banned
That and waiting for its coveted moves to come back. We’re already halfway there with the return of Knock Off, now we need Triple Axle.

Weavile has had a very solid career in competitive singles
ever since its release back in gen 4
@@Pop-qy1nxice types suffered a huge blow in Gen 4
with the newly released move “Stealth Rock”
that severely punished all rock weak pokemon
but weavile managed to overcome this
I kind of like the idea of Weavile as a anti-Meta assassin. Fits the archetype well!

@@sephikong8323that would be too good imo, I think tough claws would make it an even counter part to chien Pao. They have the same attack stat but Pao is faster and it's ability pretty much makes it's moves do 25% more dmg. Tough claws boost on weavile would make it a harder hitter with 30% on physical contact moves

I think what is really interesting about this team is that it perfectly showcases two ways to consistently deal with Gliscor (Air Balloon Heatran & Weavile). It reminds me of Skarm in gen 3 OU, really good and sturdy, but still has ways to deal with it.

The ability to OHKO the likes of: Latios, Latias, Garchomp, Landorus, Gengar, ghosts, Gliscor, Dragonite, Tyranitar, & massive damage to most Pokemon including Heatran could seemingly always have a place in the meta

weavile just got triple axel back due to the release of the indigo disk dlc
I just wish it had a real ability like i dont know what would fit it maybe slush rush to make snow even better or a snow version of sand force or solar power

Tough claws or intimidate fits it nicely. A tough claws boosted knock off would especially be vicious and give weavile a strong use case in that front while intimidate would be a far better utility ability for it than Pressure and might give it more survivability from physical attacks under snow and aurora veil teams

@@mectainea5575I understand why it has pressure though lore wise since it's like a hunter that never stops I kind of wish it had another effect instead of just doubling pp use for opponents
@@azeria1 I think the issue is less that pressure is a bad ability but more that its not really designed for glass canon Pokémon like weavile on a gameplay level. The ability itself has shown to be good on bulky pokmeon like eviolite dusclop, giratina altered and Corviknight but is terrible for glass cannon sweepers because they don’t have the longevity for it to pay off. I’d argue intimidate also fits with weaviles lore on the grounds of it being an intimidating hunter that strikes persistent fear into prey. So changing pressure to intimidate wouldn’t contradict its lore whatsoever but it would actually enhance the Pokémon more in gameplay as it has a passive effect thats more readily usable.
An alternative to Icicle Crash would be Loaded Dice Icicle Spear.
You lose on the flinch chance and utility of other items like Heavy Duty Boots, but you also gain a more accurate damage dealing move and a more powerful one too, that can even break through a Focus Sash if needed.
No boosted ice shard though. Nevermelt Ice boosted crash will match LD spear most of the time.

I’ve finally gotten used to it, but I still really miss the old outro
I've been playing this team a lot but it needs something to deal with water types. I tried thunderbolt on iron val over enamourus It worked well but then half the team is weak to fairyy which caused problems. Anyone have any thoughts on how to solve this issue? I could try tera poison or steel on val idk.

Ice types always sucked, but Weavile was good, because it was the only FAST Ice types.
All things considered, it did well without the help of an ability.
