      My friend... I would put out a video a day if it was at all possible. I love this stuff.
      Maybe someday i will get to do this full time... until then, please know that the vast majority of my non day job/sleep time is researching, writing, recording, composing, editing and publishing content for you!
      Thank you for the kind words and taking the time to comment!

      I completely agree... and while unifying all the versions is left to each table's world... my hope is that this series will give each world builder all the options from which to decide.

    I am greatly looking forward to this project and the rest of the outer planes to follow!
    One question… aren’t the Merrenoloth a type of daemon? Haven’t they always been a separate group or were they actually counted as devils at one point as you suggested around 16:15?
    I can’t wait until you dig into the lesser known planes like Acheron and Limbo!

    • @RichesandLiches
      @RichesandLiches  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had to go back and listen and check my script to get context and in hindsight did a poor job of explaining so I certainly understand any confusion and need for clarification.
      While nothing I said was inaccurate as they are considered fiends and are a type of Yugoloth, some more exposition was certainly warranted and I see someone listening thinking they are devils because of a lack of information provided (and they are covered in greater detail in the nine hells series for clarification).
      But to answer your questions, they are fiendish (lesser) Yugoloths (daemons) serving Charon - at least in the FR setting - and while they are daemons, they operate VERY independently from the Baatezu or Tan'ari often serving both sides or whoever pays the most. :)
      Thank you for pointing this out, i have made a note to expand on the Merrenoloths and Yugoloths in general when we get to that volume...
      VERY helpful... I love it when my listeners contribute like this!

    I had an idea for lore on a powerfully usless weapon that was lost i hell and forgotten.
    A wep that is powered to a great degree by the weilders compassion.
    In hell it would be an utter usless wep, but if anyone with even a fragment of compassion it turns into nearly a god.
    But no one knows this or ever found this out because it was made by a demon who though he was nearly perfect, only felt that something was laking to make it so, but didnt know what that was. So when he went to make a wepeon forged from the essence of that which he was lacking the weapon seemed and appeared to be usless to him. Its because the only thing he was lacking was compassion. Being an item of pure essense, it could only be used by someone or something that shared silmlar qualities, even on a minumal scale. This being an unknown revelation to him, he cast the weapon aside and forgot about it.
    A catalystic weapon of compassion thats made of the essense that is basic compassion.
    Kinda like a weapon made of pure chaos could only ever be weilded by a being that had chaotic characteristics or qualities. But instead of chaos its compassion.
    I just liked the idea of a utterly useless, yet incredibly powerful weapon lost in hell that sits in a pile of junk somewhere in some demons or devils armory collecting dust. Just forgotten cuz it was misunderstood and could never be used by anyone of that world.

    RECIPE FOR SKELETON DRAGONS :

  • @AMRosa10
    @AMRosa10 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Quests from the Infinite Staircase has given us the 5e reboot of The Lost City.
    Since the PCs get to The Lost CIty using the Infinite Staircase, it could conceivably be on any plane of existence, but it certainly doesn't sound like any of the Nine Hells.
    In the background they say:
    "The fall of Cynidicea began when workers digging under the ziggurat discovered a gnarled, jet-black horn jutting from a mysterious obelisk. Unknown to the workers, the horn belonged to Zargon, a timeless evil entombed in the obelisk eons ago. The moment the Cynidiceans pried the horn from the monolith, their city was doomed. Materializing from its severed protuberance, Zargon devoured the workers and slew the garrisons that followed, drowning them in torrents of slime."
    here is what the adventure says about Zargon:
    "|A towering abomination rises from the slime. Three long tentacles tipped with bladelike barbs writhe from each of its shoulders, and six more slither below, propelling it forward. Beneath the two-foot-long black horn jutting from its hideous head, the creature’s single bulging, red eye gazes down at you.|
    The creature is Zargon the Returner (see appendix B), the deathless aberration responsible for the fall of Cynidicea. Although Zargon is ageless, it is no god. A cunning evil of an age beyond memory, Zargon has discovered feigning godhood begets it a glut of sacrifices from those who crave its power." - Quests from the Infinite Staircase, WotC 2024.
    I think that if you want to homebrew this with Zargon being the original ruler of Baator given the 5e context, then it would probably be best that when the Pact Primeval gave Asmodeus dominion over Baator, the devils exiled Zargon from its realm to another plane, imprisoning it in the obelisk. The freeing of Zargon by the Cynidiceans would then happen long after the annexation of Baator by Asmodeus on a different plane of existence, and the Cynidiceans would not be Baatezu... unless of course the evil influence of Zargon resulted in the eternal damnation of their souls.

    • @AMRosa10
      @AMRosa10 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Stat Block also lists Zargon as Huge Aberration, Lawful Evil.
      There is further information in the Stat Block Description.
      "No one knows Zargon’s true origin. The creature was one of the first inhabitants of the Nine Hells, predating even the arrival of Asmodeus, the plane’s foremost ruler. Long-lived devils and occult sages theorize Zargon and its kind were invaders from another plane-or another reality entirely.
      When Asmodeus ascended the infernal hierarchy, he and his legions wiped out most of the plane’s earlier inhabitants, but Zargon proved beyond even Asmodeus’ might. No matter what blistering wrath Asmodeus brought to bear on Zargon, the aberration continually re-formed from its horn. Finally, Asmodeus cast Zargon’s horn from the Nine Hells in disgust, banishing the elder evil to the Material Plane. The horn was driven deep into the earth where it fell, entombing Zargon below.
      Eventually a civilization arose above Zargon’s prison. The elder evil whispered through dreams and nightmares to the people of Cynidicea, the realm’s capital, until one day, a crew of Cynidiceans accidentally dug through to the Returner’s prison. Zargon emerged, devouring many of the city’s inhabitants and drowning many more in its slime. The city soon fell. Those who survived Zargon’s rampage turned to it in worship, sacrificing their own to appease their so-called god. Appeased by these living offerings, Zargon returned to the tunnels beneath Cynidicea, where its cult grew."
      I wrote the above idea about homebrew before I read the description in the stat block, so it is in line with the cannon lore that WotC inserted in 5e.

    hey dawg, im just gonna say it. not many people are making long format DND lore videos so i appreciate the work in that aspect but the AI "art" used makes me so nauseous that i cannot look at the screen at all. i recently unblocked your channel because your commentary is really good and you have passion but i have to pull up a blank tab or listen while doing other things because the visual part of the video is awful. if i could ask place chill out with it please

    • @RichesandLiches
      @RichesandLiches  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I appreciate the positive comments and respect the negative ones.
      I am a firm believer that anyone who takes the time to provide honest feedback that I feel is genuine and not of a trolling nature deserves a reply and not to be met with a removal. I was told early on that the larger the channel grew, the more criticism the channel will face, its just human nature.
      I am sorry you do not like the art, but it is part of the channel and despite what some think, the art does take a lot of time and effort (I am not implying or assuming you feel this way) and for every image shared there are ten that are not.
      Truth be told, since most videos take me about 2-3x longer than other content providers, I would like to dial back the images a bit just because my metrics tell me that every minute of video I create is taking me about 90 minutes which is likely unsustainable.
      Regardless, I felt your comment deserved a reply and i do not like when people ignore or shy away from criticism because it can only be used constructively and I still have a lot to learn and long journey ahead.
      Whether you stick around to watch that progress or not, thank you for the comment.

    • @drefranks691
      @drefranks691 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RichesandLiches thank you for the response, as a traditional artist AI rubs me the wrong way and im of the belief its not really art but that is a whole other argument lol. not telling you how to run the channel that was just my suggestion and if you do keep using them then i will just listen in another tab open or something or while doing stuff around the house as your actual commentary is very well done and its obvious you care about it. one thing i will ask tho, no AI voices. thats one thing i think can be considered you have done voices and voice changers and its adds alot of flavor. but when i hear a generated voice it just takes me out of the video. either way tho, just my feedback.
      great work on the videos.

    • @RichesandLiches
      @RichesandLiches  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the follow up and civil discourse. I think if we were sitting around chatting, we'd likely find we agree more than we disagree. Unfortunately the AI movement, like the internet before it and the printing press before that... is here to stay.
      On the voice front, I guess technically you can call my changed voices AI, although I would like everyone to know that I read every word and just alter the voice in stories when required.
      As for the lore videos, like Forgotten Realms volume 3, I let Grilee Tomekeeper so the 40 second stinger open but thats it... the rest is my unaltered voice.
      Thank you for the honest feedback!
