Love Ventura. Such a gem. So happy my family is there and I get visit them all the time from LA. It truly is a treasure. I hope it doesn’t lose its small town vibe. It really is just a laid back beach community.
It's a good place to visit. Been here for 20+ yrs now. I travel around the country a lot for work and this has the best weather out most all the cities in the U.S.A. Don't for get to visit the vagabond for breakfast and the sunsets in the fall. 😎
+Janvier Leroux rent is crazy here, all my years living in Ventura showed me that apt living can be tricky. as a kid my mum had 3 jobs and we had to jump from place to place because new landlords would change in one building a lot and decide to remodel or hike up the rent. just finding a place in a good location is hard now that its a "hip" place to live :P P.S. Ventura collage and high school are terrible.

WOW! VHS and VC are "terrible"?! I've never heard that before....Ventura College has had a reputation for being quite a GOOD community College for a long time now, as far as I know.....did something change?
I have Family in SD LA "where I'm from" and Sf, Ventura has the most softest sand and most blessed Water 💧 in California. Super glad I have Family there too 😁. We Californios are super blessed.
Dear Lord. Let me help the good mayor out! One, Ventura WAS NOT founded by the Chumash and the Chumash did not originate or come from the Channel Islands. The Chumash were fishermen, not farmers, as mentioned in the Portola Expedition and earlier Spanish explorer diaries. The Chumash did have villages with various names that Catalan explorers Don Gaspar and Mallorcan Father Serra as well other peeps in the expeditions identified. The leaders of the Portola Expeditions and some of the Free Company of Catalonian Volunteers would also give their own names to the Chumash villages. Ventura was also established by the Catalan and Mallorcan freys as well Catalan soldiers. Most of the early missions were also designed by the Catalan engineer Miguel Costanso. Trust me. You'll get an "A" in your CA history classes if you actually take the time to read this stuff instead of listening to people who have no clue.
The Chumash may have been dependance of Siberians that probably walked over the land bridge then where it would have still been blocked they may taken a boat down the coast and landed on Santa Rosa then on to the others. When the coast thawed they supposedly came inland. Yes they where fisherman.
To bad it costs $10 to park at the beach or state park. It should be free. Downtown parking costs. How about making it tourist friendly. Like it used to be. I've been around here since 1960, she's not really telling it all. Hobo Jungle, Santa Clara River Camp, don't get me wrong this place is awesome, tell it all though. The Islands are Wonders of the world.
Justin Kemsley i agree with you. i am a recovering addict and will remain a recovering one as well. clean since 2006. it is 2013 now. i knew the NIGHT LIFE there.thought it was awesome. nnow since i have a good hearted woman who we can not live w/o each other. we now know THE DAY LIFE there. it is a awesome place to go to. hang out. enjoy other sober or mostly sober people. and making new friends and memories.
The Father Serra statue is gone now. Somebody decided he was too "racist". Maybe he was. Everything else seems to be these days. Anyway, he was canceled. Ventura is still a very lovely community. It maintains a small town feel. You'd never image over 100,000 people call it "home".
Are we serious. Smh, that's sad and pathetic that stayed git hit with that BS. Adds nothing to our society just a bunch of complaining because putting in actual work of your character as a person that adds positive value to their community would be too hard and take actual time.

I was raised in Ventura, back when anything east of Mills Road was orchards and Pierpont was a separate town. Man the place is huge now :)
