- May 8, 2016 - The PMA reception rites is one of the toughest challenges and civilian goes through before turning into a cadet. In this feature, we follow the two top cadets of Class Mabalasik, Karen Lei Cunanan and Joshua Galong.
We dedicate this feature to 2nd Lt. Karen Lei Cunanan, her fellow Mistah and her family. Her untimely passing caused by a vehicular accident is a tragic event in which we offer our sincerest sympathies. We hope her memory lives on.

I am also a frustrated PMA applicant. I am a native of Baguio but I failed the applications I was too young then. However I never question God's will. I am now a Police Sergeant in a British Colony thank God Queen Elizabeth accepted me.

Very interesting cadet uniforms (especially the grey blouse). I graduated from VMI in the United States, and we also wore similar outfits!
The PMA was patterned mostly after Westpoint when it was established in the commonwealth period. So, I wouldn’t be surprised that they also patterned their uniforms after them.
Iirc, the first instructors also came from US Military Academy.

I am Filipino. My father was a retired full bird Philippine Army who served as a scout Ranger.
We immigrated to America when I was a boy. I enlisted in the US Army after high school and eventually awarded ROTC scholarship to attend Norwich - the Military College of Vermont, and America’s second oldest military college.
I am convinced PMA is harder than West Point or any of the Federal Service Academy or the other Senior Military Colleges in the US.
Pinoys are tough mofos.
Scout ranger is a course not a profession.
@@algogstv6054 You are quite wrong. There exists a Scout Ranger course, available to be taken by both PNP(Philippine National Police) and Army personnel. If you have graduated from the course you are assigned to a battalion within the 1st Scout Ranger regiment for Army passers, or the Special Action Force for PNP passers. The 1st Scout Ranger Regiment is a Special Forces unit under the Philippine Army along with the Philippine Special Forces, and the Light Reaction Regiment, while all special forces under the Army is commanded by the AFPSOCOM ( Armed Forces of The Philippines Special Operations Command), with the AFPSOCOM consisting of all special operations and unconventional warfare units from all the AFP service branches (Army, Navy/Marines, Air force) with the PNP not included. Fun fact, the PNP's Special Action Force, or more commonly known as the "SAF" was formerly within the AFPSOCOM, during the time the PNP was not a civillian organization as it was formerly known as the PC ( Philippine Constabulary) the former military police and the national Gendarmerie policia force of the philippines, and one of the former branches of the AFP.
Maybe because most of the cadets that enter westpoint are planning on becoming pilots but in the Philippines we don't have that luxury as most of our air assets are limited for now so most PMA graduates either become infantry commanders or intelligence before they become fully fledged colonels and generals

PMA is also a hazing academy. Cadet dormitorio just died recently due to hazing. Reason, pair of combat boots lost and 50% of his allowance were already spent.

Kung makita nila anomaly sa mata mo na mild lang, magsusuggest yan sila na ipaayos mo yan bago ka pumasok. Kung matanggap mo ito na suggestion, GAWIN MO NA TALAGA.. kase sure ka na non na makakapasok sa PMA..

Goosebumps 🔥 I always dreamt of participating to a tough training, as a cadet 5th class also in my current situation. I'm so Into a tough training but consistency is the problem. I can't keep up my body to surpass my limit, I gained weight everyday without doing nothing.

sad to say, 3 months after graduation Lt. Karen Lei Cunanan (PAF) passed away due to car accident. she was a good leader and a good upperclass to us. i hope that she is happy looking down at us and guiding every step of our training.

I'm here after passing the examination. I am not physically strong, in fact, I am weak but it will not stop me from pursuing my (&my family's) dream! I may be not as good as the others but at least I am willing to learn. Laban lang, Self. Kayang kaya. hindi magiging madali, Oo, pero ano bang madali sa buhay? Diba wala naman. What comes easy don't last long. Suffer now, Rest later!

It breaks my heart seeing this video because I didn't become a pma'er.I took pma entrance exam 4 times failed so I will try to join Officer Candidate School in the future. I will never give up on my dreams of becoming a soldier unless hindi na pwede.

I'm planning to apply here. Whether or not I have the strength of character of the people who went through this, I'll find out and it'll be an important discovery.
I've always wanted a progressive military career, I've studied Military doctrines, organization, and even to extent history relevant to militaries, even the APP-6A of the NATO, but I know all well these were the superficial levels, and the true test and the actual application of what I've learned in years is to undergo as an Officer cadet in PMA, with the objective of honing my leadership skills, and bringing my men back home alive to see their families should I succeed to be within branch of the Army and experience deployment.
It excites me as much that the test will be in Sunday.
