It makes my head hurt that someone existed who wrestled both Big Daddy and Bryan Danielson.
William Regal teamed with Big Daddy and wrestled Bryan Danielson.
And also the smash hit Booty Girl.
@@MrTumnus1987Kimberly page?
My first reaction too.
William Regal tagged with Big Daddy but never opposed him. Robbie Brookside also came to mind (was trying to recall UK wrestlers who crossed the generation gap), but upon checking he did wrestle Bryan but not Daddy.
American Dragon Brian Danielson toured Britain in 2003 (as documented in his YES book) winning Rollerball Rocco's old World Heavy-Middleweight title (ditto) less than 10 years after Big Daddy retired in December 1993. There were quite a number of former Daddy opponents still active in 2003 that Bryan could have worked with - the late great Drew McDonald springs to mind for a start.
That wasn't Big Daddy wheeling in the girl, that was Hulk Hogan and this was the main event of Summerslam '92
Hulk Hogan DISCOVERED Big Daddy, and was totally responsible for getting Wrestling on 'World of Sport' on a Saturdat afternoon.
I still do not comprehend the shape of Big Daddy’s torso.
You don't have to.. Just know that it is
Daddy's finisher did actually look pretty sick.
Watch his match against the mighty quinn, he actually knocked him the fuck out.
@@HAM-sb2ns i was wondering if anyone ever got knocked out cause if you don't get your head in the right position that's what 350lb comin at you
Saying "Big Daddy" in a British accent is the best
That ring looks like it belongs in a cartoon
If there was ever a video thumbnail that demanded you drop whatever you’re doing & watch immediately… it’s probably this one. I never knew Kamala was in such good shape early in his career. Granted, Big Daddy makes everyone else look like they’re in shape.
"do you not understand how powerful daddy is"
This match was everything Rock v Austin at Wrestlemania X7 wishes it could've been
*Chas n Dave's "My Way" starts playing*
You think your special...you doo
So happy that I'm not the only one that immediately thought of My Way 😂
Lol I came here to write the same comment as all of you
Oh I put a comment about this on TH-cam ages ago - it is the most WrestleMe match in the history of ever - now you have to do Nikola Volkoff This is Your Life and Lord Alfreds English Tea Party and we're getting through my list! (Also - have you thought of doing a video on Donna Marie, the UK lady wrestler who killed her husband, that's a whole rabbit hole, and UK Womens Wrestling in general....)
Oooooh tell me more about Donna Marie ???
Five of the eight people who wrestled on the first WWF ITV Special in January 1987 previously wrestled in Britain on World Of Sport - Kamala, Salvatore Belomo, Bret, Davey and Dynamite.
Only Hogan. Savage and Neidhart had never been on British TV Wrestling before - Neidhart would eventually wrestle for Hammerlock in 2002.
Big daddy is cemented in my mind because growing up my grandparents loved him. Every time me and my brother mentioned wrestling he popped up, big daddy for the wrestling hall of fame needs to be a movement. Mainly because I believed my late nana loved big daddy more than my grandad.
Hahahahahahaha
The ring is the size of the entrance rings from Wrestlemania 6 lol
the teaser at the end is either Mick McManus or Vince McMahon's new look. lol
Everytime I see Big Daddy doing anything but wrestling i see why the public fell in love with him. He just comes across as so sweet and genuine. He could not be a heel.
Man, I love Big Daddy. He's like a warboss for the seaside postcard side of Britain. I love this style of wrestling, but the sun has really set for it, unless it was brought back with a sense of humour about itself. Big Daddy sounds like a decent feller, too, I've heard no one saying a bad word about him. His cultrual impact was MASSIVE, though. One can't bark "technique" at him and disqualify him from any hall of fame, EVERYONE in the UK knows his name. Any wrestling hall of fame who refuses to accept him is nothing but a joke. --- Though I thoroughly enjoyed you boys roasting him, very funny stuff! ---- Oh, and bless Kamala/Harris in this video, he did a great job for Shirley!
The things you can say where wrong with him was he was the bookers favorite, and that's it.
As a man no theirs nothing, he was a show man thru an thru.
this is the main event we need today
I kind miss the big fat guys in the mix. Guys like Akeem/Gang, Vader, Earthquake. there arent many super heavyweights anymore
That “pre-Kamala” sound effect was so unnecessary thus making it entirely appropriate for the podcast. Never change boys.
I cannot wait for the McManus episode!
“Glittery Duvet cover”😂
As an American I only know him from this channel…
Thank you for acknowledging that we’d not get his overness w/o early context.
In the 70s and early 80s arm wrestling was referred to as wrist wrestling in states too.. I've watched old competitions that led up to movie over the top and the tournaments they had to find guys for movie. It was a semi big deal and a few of them went on to be famous.
Jim Harris is probably the only wrestler to have had matches against all of Big Daddy, Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker.
And Brian Danielson.
Just had a laughing fit at Marc saying “do you not understand Daddy?” in an incredulous Yorkshire accent 😂
To be fair, that finisher looked devastating.
You don't know Daddy. He lives here! 😂😂😂
bodies of pure athletes right here
Yasssss!!!! I bloody love this channel and I've now watched all the back catalogue. New Saturday video. 🇬🇧💪🏽
That is a legitimately good finisher
I knew nothing about big daddy till this week, but I love the character. I get it
Big Daddy cares not for Bret's rope.
He has the hearts and his own gravitational force
"Coming Soon"
Me: Ooh! That's that one dude.. Sweet 😊
Why do i enjoy watching Bid Daddy "Wrestle" so much?
My life is going to feel unfulfilled now until I get a Kamala stamp.
This channel needs more exposure! !!!
Definitely better than WrestleLamia WhatCultureWrestling WrestlingBios WrestlingWithAndy. The pair of yous are hilarious 😂😂😂👌
That finisher was the best thing Daddy ever did in wrestling which actually involved a wrestling move
Yeah, at least in the 'peak 1980s' period,
not sure there's any footage of Daddy fromn the '60s / early '70s era
14:12
Thats ACTUALLY good, very unique move foe a big (fat) man, especially these days!
Id like to see Bronson Reed or even a non-tubby BigBoy like Braun do that now
I’ve always enjoyed Big Daddy’s intro music!
Need to remake this video but include a counter that dings every time somebody says daddy.
When Big Daddy can't get in but Chris Benoit can and stays in after murdering his wife and kid, you know there's something very wrong with the Observer's HOF.
@@Anthony-fk7yn no, it actually doesn't matter how good Benoit was at doing his job. Wrestling and kayfabe achievements are totally and utterly irrelevant after what he did. Aside from that, a wrestler who is a big draw, such as Big Daddy, is a successful wrestler. This is pro wrestling we are talking about - drawing power is incredibly important.
@@Anthony-fk7yn ahhh I get you, was wondering why you had all the strange caps, makes sense now lol
Big Daddy was legitimately the most famous and popular man in the entire country at one point and brought wrestling into the mainstream of UK culture like no one before or since, but according to the IWC, he wasn't very good at professional wrestling.
@@namikstudioshaha....and started it in ""
@namikstudios Knowing the fundamentals of wrestling are also important bit you iwc "fans" would not understand that! However I respect Big daddy and his contributions
The Memphis videos were shot in Lawler's garden.
I believe Big Daddy was head doorman at the Leeds Mecca with Jimmy Savile was the manager.
Wrist wrestling and white English tops. Didn't know it was gonna be THAT kind of episode!
Can we call the finish "The Englishmans Drop"?
I believe it should be called the tea-drop suplex.
Me: I need to focus and get a lot of work done today. Reality: There's a new episode of Wrestle Me. I have to watch it.
And about a dozen after lol
One of JYDs early gimmicks was to call himself Big Daddy after our Shirley
Great stuff as always.
Big Daddy is peak athleticism.
An absolute dream match
I now love Big Daddy who I discovered when I bought his Retro Hasbro type figure with Giant Haystacks 😂
An 8 star banger, if in the egg dome.
i love how this unfolded all the way to wanting a Kamala stamp. lol the journey it took for you to get there xD
I’m gonna use pre Kamala from now on when getting excited when the mrs shows her ankles 😂
My favorite part of the match is when Big Daddy sent Kamala into the ropes and the kid in the bed/wheelchair reached out and tripped him
0:42 I'm sorry but KID CHOCOLATE?!
That's right!
When Kamala died, Bret Hart wrote that he remembered seeing Kamala wrestling in Croydon. This could be a job for Marc and Pete - find footage of Bret wrestling in the UK. I do have some vague memory of a US wrestler (I know Bret is Canadian) being on World of Sport at one point. Cant remember exactly who, but IIRC, it was a real clash of styles and the US wrestler looked the far better. I also vaguely remember a bout, which maybe the same wrestler, of a wrestler repeatedly using his knees in the eyes on a downed opponent. This may be a far brutal memory than reality - mainly because I was quite young at the time!

Back in the 80s, Mark sang "Send Me an Angel" as he prayed for salvation. Then 30 years later Pete appeared to him in a halo of golden light. In a lyrical, totally not pubescent, voice Pete said, "Come, my friend, and follow me to the promised land." And that is the origin of the Wrestle Me Podcast.
your comment was so intriguing, i found myself wrist-wrestling with it for several minutes (best of three pulls, ofc)
@@fattypneumonia Well if you do it right, then maybe the Heavens above will send you your own Pete.
Big Daddy needs induction to hall of fame
This is weird because haystacks is on WWE hof
Haystacks was in wcw for a bit
@@kevinhill8032That's Giant Haystacks that was in WCW as Loch Ness. Haystacks Calhoun is in the WWF/E HOF. It's two different people.
I’d guess my generation (I’m 48) was the last ones to see Daddy as a star.
So hard to say how well known he was but he’d be similar to Simon Cowell, Gordon Ramsey, Jeremy Clarkson. He was mainstream, everyone knew who he was, whether they liked wrestling or not.
Daddy was this well known for decades.
On top of that he was entertaining, for the time period he did what was needed and did it well. Not a great technical wrestler but he made a name for himself and the sport. Should 100% be in the HOF.
I thought bad news brown was in the ring at first.
Big daddy finisher is quite cool. That is the best 'big guy' finisher I have seen
these days i just categorically accept that big daddy obviously belongs in every wrestling hall of fame, even the absolutely-no-british one... have.... have i been brainwashed by you two?
Big daddy a very underrated star such an amazing talent sadly not that well known in America
Plz can someone, anyone share the link to the wrestle me theme music, I know it’s on a new Japan album but can’t find it
Big daddy hated kids. He used to throw buckets of water on them on his street n swear at them
That lump on Big Daddy's neck is almost like a camel hump.
Hope WWE inducts Big Daddy even if it is to spite the Observer lol. He deserves both.
Kamala will ALWAYS be that wrestler that scared the shit outta me as a kid! It didn't help either that there were 2 of them as a tag team iirc. Lol
More World Of Sport goodness please
Big Daddy looks more like a darts player from that era than a wrestler. Not many people you could say make Dusty Rhodes look healthy & in shape. Really don't know why people liked this guy so much.
The historical UK wrestling videos are the best. Not much content about it anywhere.
why did yall use forest whitaker as the picture for idi amin
I love Kamala Harris' singing voice and record these guys highlighted in a previous video
Not many people jobbed to both Big Daddy and the Hulkster
I remember watching this on TWC back in the day and wondering “Wrist wrestling? Wtf?”
I know the "Kamala os the American Big Daddy" thing was a gag, but in all seriousness, Dusty Rhodes was the American Big Daddy in almost every possible way, except Dusty was actually a good wrestler.
I thought it was the missouri mauler?
17:49 shameful confession: as a Millennial teen who wasn't really into Spiderman the comic or cartoons but liked the Raimi films (so I wasn't bothered about canon compliance), I had a crush on Topher Grace in the third one. Idk I just like skinny pathetic snivelly wet cat heel men.
Big Daddy seemed like such a nice guy
Daddy’s Brown Sauce!
I can smell the haggis on Big Daddy through the screen
The Mick McManus tease!
I think Haystacks Calhoun was the American Big Daddy.
randy savage voice: "he wuz a MOUNTAIN of a mannnn... OOOOOOH, YEAHHH!"
I'd say Happy Humphrey instead of Haystacks Calhoun.
wonder what 'Sugar Bear Harris' had to say about this match
is he the Dusty Rhodes of England?
Elements of that, but there is no direct equivalent to Big Daddy. Britain in the 80s was a very odd place. Big Daddy had a third of the population watch his match against Giant Haystacks. In the UK when I was growing up, he was as famous as Michael Jackson, maybe more.
Part Dusty, part Hogan, part gravy.
@@LongLiveRockAnRoll 😂😂
Bit surprised they did that end move, that’s a lot of weight and momentum Harris is taking with no real way of deflecting it and a lot of it is straight on his head.
You're working on the assumption it was planned.
@@VelvetMetrolink - Hahah...... There is that.
Looks bloody dangerous though... All that weight coming down, back first, on your head unprotected. It's not like Daddy is able to manipulate his weight distribution.
I can remember him
I was a big fan of big daddy ..cant really remember much but remember liking him
Did he kill someone with his move ..i dont think i imagined seeing it on the news 1 time
Near sure watching hulk hogan against randy ortans da on world of sport one saturday
YESSS MORE BRITISH WRASSLIN TOMFOOLERY
No more knickerbocker glory’s 🤣🤣🤣
The movie needs they called it wrist wrestling
4:43 oh wow! It's Luke Cage!
I hate that I know exactly who you guys are teasing at the end of the video. THE MUSIC WAS A DEAD GIVEAWAY
Forget Kurt Angle, Bryan Danielson, Dynamite Kid and William Regal. The true best wrestlers from Britain in the United States are Kamala and the Big Daddy.
Shirley you can't be serious
Don’t call me Shirley
Did Big Daddy know of what Savile did?
No but Hulk Hogan did!
You need to see big daddy vs john elijah
12yo Me Playing DOR
: "Why would anyone fall back on a back body drop"
32yo me: I wish Back Body drops were all done like that 😂😂
Correction:
Actually Mr Crabtree was in fact Jim Harris's father... or ... daddy.
Would not want to take that back-drop splash thing. Yikes!
I honestly thought Kamala was running for office 4 years ago :(
