On the spot as usual, Linus. I bought one on December and got it in January, from Gearbest. I was dating it since October and fetched one in the 11.11 flash sales, that lasted to December. OLED screen, front fingerprint scanner (rear is not for me), great specs, good battery, IR blaster, USB type C, and the list goes on. The camera is nice, but not flagship class. It's the only average thing here.
Apart from rear camera, Mi Note 2 is still a great device. It also has a headphone jack and LTE band 20 (global ROM), something that Mi Note 3 doesn't have.

Have you test its GPS navigation using waze or Google map. Do you experience intermittent GPS signal loss while driving? My experience: -GPS signal loss -camera with not a sharp photos quality even in the daylight

Nice! If you are on a budget, it's usually better to buy a one or two year old new phone at a discount than paying full price for a budget. Android releases offer little improvement. Split screen on Nougat is convenient for copy and paste, but Marshmallow works fine. I bought ZTE Axon 7 at close out price of $229, but wouldn't have paid $450. Peace
It's hard to improve the low light performance with tiny 1.0μm pixel size, despite the HUGE 22.56 million pixels output. Even a slight increase is sufficient. For instance, Mi 5's 1.12μm or Mi Note 3's 1.25μm produces a lot better low light photos (well, the quality jump from Mi 5 to Mi Note 3 is actually higher than Mi Note 2 to Mi 5).

In India, honor 8 blue variant is available at $200 and hence I bought that. Honor 8 is a great phone. Only two cons will be battery life and single sim else everything is perfect. Of course there is no ois but if you use some support, tripod etc then you can get great low light shots. I got the security patch of jan recently so it is going great.

Adi Madar I've never used the MI Note 3 but from the specs and price Xiaomi made it a budget phone when the Note 2 still competes with other flagship. Maybe they didn't want it hurting sales of the MI Mix 2. The home button and bezels are huge with a smaller screen, it's light on LTE bands and it has a smaller battery.
JReid2K smaller battery but much more efficient soc. the soc handles everyday tasks like a pro. no studders or hikups at all!! so much value for money design like mi6 it should be called mi6 plus. really
I have owned both this phone and Mi 5s Plus. Mi Note 2 has better build quality and design, but the screen quality and battery life is better on 5s Plus. The screen on Mi Note 2 is one of the worst I have ever used. Not sharp at all, also, there is visible grey lines in the background when screen brightness is low.
Interestingly, the mi note 2 is more expensive than the mi note 3 in my country. and tbh, the mi note 3 is a better device, especially for the camera. the only thing that sounds worse than the mi note 2 is the SoC, which is a sd660, a midrange soc that have a similar performance to the 821 except for the graphic card.
Xiaomi are really bad on flagship range phones like this from last year. Good specs but bad software. Not just because of the UI but also because of its capabilities. If you're buying a xiaomi phone, stick with the midrange. Well this is a good phone now since its in the mid range.
HTC U Ultra is a better deal (and under $300 USD), has better front facing camera and rear camera (with OIS) day time and night time and 3D audio recording, QHD display (better than FHD), stereo boom sound speakers
Amoled screen is only good when is QHD and made by Samsung and the one on Xiaomi mi note 2 is only FHD and made by LG which have received heaps of complaints, colour shift issues, colour saturation issues and pixelation issues as well, look at the disaster of Google Pixel 2 XL screen and also it's not waste of space when it's only the same size of iPhone 8 Plus. Not many phones have both 2 stereo speakers (which takes space) and the superior flagship camera under 300 bucks, no other phones have the flagship camera under 300 bucks.
