@@darky3359 It is still not a logical assumption based off reading the description of keen vision that it would affect your ability to hear vehicles, only see them.
@satomonster568 It's not about logic at all. That's how games work. That the sound is attached to the object. And if this object disappears, then so does the sound. And by itself, this is done to protect against cheaters. Due to this, they cannot see people through all the objects on the map. Just because it's commonplace for the client not to receive information about any enemy player vehicles until the server decides that it should be in your line of sight. I do not dispute that it works crookedly in connection with the sound. But there is more of a claim to the mechanics of spotting itself. They just somehow need to make a check for the radius of audibility of the sound. And if the vehicle is within sound range, then send information about it to the client. Sorry for my bad English.
Remember when Gaijin talked about stock grind being some kind of realistic take on military logistics or some shit like that? The gap between stock and spaded, novice and ace crews, is so ridiculously wide that I would genuinely say that is the single worst aspect of this entire game. It affects the gameplay, balance, and fun factor more than anything else, and it needs to be addressed.
I would say it's one of the closest thing to a hidden P2W in this game. The difference between a new crew and a Ace crew is absurd. Of course you can get there by playing, but... If someone is willing to spend eagles on crew level, they will clearly have an advantage

Trying to play top-tier Stock with HEAT-fs and without any components is literally pointless cuz you basically get 0 chance to fight back, can't spot anything cuz everyone else has thermals and will spot you first, can't engage at range cuz no rangefinder everyone else will one tap you first with apfsds, you can't even b smart n flank n damage tanks from the side or back cuz poor heat-fs damage vs mbts or getting caught in volumetric etc moments, your only chance is catching rushing light tanks by suprise or assists to be able to grind to a competitive level playing field, can't even farm cap points cuz again stock so everyone has better mobility than you, and if you touch a enemy cap you can't defend it cuz stock and CAS is inbound you can't even hide inside smoke screens This basically incentivizes you to GE modifications from the get-go so that you aren't useless n helpless in matches I still remember when i unlocked apfsds in endgame top tier made everything so much easier i could actually get several kills and after that LRF made it like i could actually play the game
