Nelson Ngai Self reliant? Not quite! In 1854 Japan was a feudal society with no industrial manufacturing capacity. By 1912 (58 years later) the last foreign built major ship for the Imperial Japanese Navy was the battlecruiser Kongo. After that all Japanese naval vessels were designed and built in Japan , incluidng battleships and aircraft carriers. By 1941 the Imperial Japanese Navy was the third largest navy in the world after the United States and Britain. All of their ships were designed and built in Japan! In Pakistan, 75 years after independence, we are still reliant on imported weapons and have little design capability! So no, we are not self reliant and have not done well in weapons manufacturing!

India can produce aircraft carrier, nuclear submarines, artillery,short,medium,long range air defence equipment both ground based and air launched, third generation anti tank weapons fire and forget, Nag anti tank weapon, infantry single shot anti tank missiles.Awacs equipment,supersonic cruise missile, brahmos,aircraft engines, helicopter engines, helicopters both multipurpose and attack like rudra , light combat helicopter Lch ,complex electronics, infrantry fighting vehicles, virtual reality equipment, anti ballistic missile defence system's, intercontinental ballistic missiles,high power lasers and endless other stuff that Pakistan also needs to make
