This video didn’t mention that US sponsored a coup in Solomon island against the government, the government asked military help from Australia and didn’t get any, which led to the security agreement with China. In addition, Australia didn’t provide earthquake assistance and China did also speed up the pro China movement. There is always two sides of the story.

As a Solomon Islander I can say that Chinese are way more effective. When they say they will do something, you see results in 3-6 months. The same can be said for the Japanese.
Australia, US and NZ also gives us alot of money but most of these goes towards "consulting services" with no actual results on the ground.
Maybe Asians are just better at putting their aid money to good use.

It's true that they do get the job done, but it sometimes comes at the cost of cheap labor, that including skipping safety protocols when building certain structures. This doesn't mean it's always like this, but keep that in mind in case of future incidents involving projects that finish sooner than they should. I still agree with your points however. The west does take longer or flat out don't help properly with their "aid" programs.

Hmm.. I would be wary & cautious of China-made construction. Even in China it's own people are aware of poor workmanship & bad construction by China companies! They call it "Tofu dreg" where corners are cut to save costs & health n safety codes broken to speed up construction etc... only for the finished product/building/bridge/road etc to decay, crumble or fall afew years later!

@@ssss8162 You have a good point. National sovereignty is a malleable idea. To quite a degree, all sorts of tiny regions atmospherically retain it. Think of the soccer teams of Wales and of Scotland participating in world cups, or of the de-facto recognition in many parts of the Earth of the Dalai Lama as an infallible authority although this man considers himself the head of a nation! The other way around, a person in Britain officially is the head of many areas typically included in lists of sovereign states, among them Australia.
Indeed, you have those directories with the currently 195 "sovereign states". But who prints them? A look into footage from a recent conference in Samarkand with Putin, Xi, and heads of "sovereign states" which have before been parts of the Soviet Union will tell you that such latter leaders feel a lot of unease concerning their involvement with "Russia", knowing very well that Putin's war against Ukraine is largely a warning example.

My jaw dropped as I learned Native Americans population in their motherland, the Continent of America before European Colonizers arrived was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland, the Continent of Europe was around 25 millions.
      - Today, Native American population in their motherland is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continent of America + Europe, is a staggering 'TWO BILLIONS'! A sad truth.
The fact that notorious Anglo Western clans are major participants & benefactors of Colonization worldwide, stretching from North America, the land rightfully belongs to indigenous Native American people to Australia/New Zealand in Asia-Pacific, the land rightfully belongs to Native people of Asia Pacific region.
      - May I ask if Anglo West have any laws at all for dealing with past and present notorious global cardinal crimes like Slavery, Colonialism & Colonization of vast bountiful resourceful Continents, such as North America, which rightfully belongs to indigenous Native Americans, and to Australia and New Zealand in Asia-Pacific region, which rightfully belongs to Native people of Asia Pacific?
      - In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return it to rightful owners.
Remember, notorious global cardinal sins & crimes the Anglo West has committed and benefited a great deals, such as Slavery and Colonialism had long been over, why on earth is notorious Colonization still lingering on? 😔

The Solomon Islanders died to serve the Australians and the Americans during ww2. After the war what did the Americans and Australians do to help the Solomon Island? Since 1945 they have plenty of time and chance to help the Solomon Island to develop and prosper. Now 2022, 77 years later, the Solomon Island still doesn't have decent infrastructures, still poor, still depending on handouts and charity. So for 77 years the west didn't lift a finger to help but only take advantage of cheap labour and cheap natural resources to help themselves. The Chinese came to help build infrastructures, build up standard of living just in the last 5 years or so and they already making a lot of difference. So who is the bad guy? The one that for 77 years milking Solomon island or the one that bringing Solomon island out if poverty just in the last few years?

If they felt a group of people was close to them in nature then they would give them leeway and try to trade with them. If they felt a group of people was too different from them and that they therefore should and could be hostile to them they want MC hammer on the locals. And nobody can say this is not true. The dominican republic and Haiti are the same island yet they got different treatment for the US. I sailed to Gizo in the Soloman Islands from Micronesia. Most of the people were incredibly poor.
Unlike the "Empire of Chaos" as Pepe Escobar refers to the USA, China invests money in infrastructure in many Pacific Island States. I've seen it myself in Tonga and now I know of it in the Solomon Islands.
When I was sailing out of Gizo to Australia there was a $25 customs clearance fee for the yacht. They couldn't find the 'receipt' book, so they waved the fee. I said, "Just take the money and don't worry about the receipt"!
The incredibly honest Customs officer said "I'm not allowed to accept cash without a receipt" !
A few years later I was speaking at a climate change conference in Wellington and met the delegate from the Solomon Islands I bought all his beers because he wouldn't take the money either!
Very honourable people from my experience. They know they can't trust the empire.

When the Onsa set foot in Australia.... When the Onsa set foot on the American continent, an Indian country with at least 20 million people, the Maya people suddenly disappeared? The Indians taught the Onsa pirates to grow corn and sweet potatoes. When the Indians exchanged gold filled with two prisons for the king, the pirates killed the Indian king. Then the Onsa told us that Indians had no civilization...

It's in the western interests like US, Australia and allies to keep the Pacific islands under developed, poor and disunited so that they beholden to them and dependent on their charity and labour - as well as to convert them politically and spiritually (missionaries) like their ancestorial colonists did. An independent an self-supporting nation with its own views of national development and destiny would pose a threat to them. They feel even threatened with the islander proclamation of "friends to all and enemy to none". Basically they want these islands to be under their sphere of influence - no more no less.

Which would people rather have, the soft approach of China and building tangible assets that people can avail, or sanctions and coup d’etat by Western powers? The Belt and Road initiatives by China is a brilliant move and a win-win for those who’ve opted to welcome the Chinese investments.

Soft approach? Ok. The BRI is definitely smart on China’s part, but don’t think they’re doing it for the people in those countries. Bottom line they’re doing what benefits China and to say there isn’t some form of exploitation in these relationships, by an emboldened China that wants to be seen as the number one country in the world, is naive. I’m not defending the West at all. I’m just tired of this la la fantasy that the CCP is overall good intentioned at heart.

Climate change is one of the most pressing political, economic and environmental issues of our time. It demands honest and timely collective global actions. Despite the ever-rising environmental catastrophes that are occurring around the world from destructive hurricanes, cyclones and flooding to sea level rise, coastal erosion, drought, fire, and sea acidification, there are climate change deniers who argue that climate change is not posing the kind of danger that is being put forward. Yet, if the global community does not take drastic measures now, climate change could result in many of the Pacific island nations being wiped from the map of the world in the not so distant future. The small island nations of the Pacific region are more vulnerable to the acute effects of climate change than any other region in the world. Most of these volcanic islands are barely a few metres above sea level (ADB, 2019). Ocean level rise amongst other climatic changes is threatening the very existence of these geographically isolated and small land masses. ‘The rising scale and the intensity of storm surges, saltwater intrusion and coastal destruction of the past decades have decimated coping capacities, leaving island populations with failing crops, crippling water shortages and an uncertain future’ (Hassan and Cliff, 2019). The existential threat of environmental change is irrefutably claiming land and human lives year-in and year-out.

    Furthermore, for many

When the United States talks about "rules-based international order," it actually means "an international order based on U.S. hegemonic control."
So when the United States wants other countries to abide by the "rules-based international order", it is actually coercing other countries to submit to the rules imposed by the US hegemony, NOT by International Law.
Under this "rule-based international order" Whatever war crime, illegal invasion, assignation, regime chance, coercion, ethnic cleansing, bombing, murder etc done by American are legal, American are exempted from any legal action in any court and NO action can be taken against any American citizen involved.
Whatever same act done by the country or citizen of other countries; they are liable AND MUST BE PUNISHED.

The best job resume is by looking each countries on how they treat the indigenous in the past.

Thank you for putting this out, we have the west to thank for the recent violence in Solomon Islands, why don't you also investigate the fact that the November riots in Solomon islands was ocestrated by unknown powers outside of Solomon islands, and understandably given the fact that we're a developing country, the riots was overrun by opportunists looking for a means of free stuff from the shops. Don't paint your own picture here, we live here and we know what's what around here. Our police was capable enough to stop the riot but for some reason was never given the green light to go all out on the opportunists causing havoc in the city. Those taking part in the riots makes up all the unemployed individuals living in our squatters around town. There's nothing so sinister about all of this you nitwits, open your eyes. You can call china a lot of things but we don't see western investors around here helping us to trade overseas. Like every other country we depend on trade to grow, why don't the west open to trading with us so that we don't depend on chinas market. And yeah we have Australia to thank for bringing peace in our country, but we have China to thank for keeping our head above water. In the short time that China are in the Solomon, they have done so much, particularly in the area of infructure development. They are now even offering scholarship to Solomon Islands students to study in China. On the long run, we have yet to see who Chinese really are. Some of us are still skeptical of Chinese presence in the Solomons.

Despite my interest in military technologies, I have never prayed or craved war or any kind of confrontation between human beings that results in loss of life, but I am not also not brainwashed fool who cannot interpret all the Chinese and Russian machinations over the last two decades. We face an existential threat not seen since the start of WWII. I believe that strong and consistent enforcement of the technological and economic constraints on China and Russia is the key to successfully neutralizing this existential threat. Strangling their economies is a far more effective strategy to prevent them from achieving their goal of global domination than an all-our war and a great loss of human life. Once their economies collapse, internal strife and chaos will be their greatest threat.
We have to stop all the political infighting and divisions in our country, and instead do what we can to help our country unite and prepare to deal with the crises that China and Russia have in store for us. I have been extremely proud with what the UNITED Biden Administration and Congress have accomplished thus far, as well as the STRONG ALLIANCE THAT HAS BEEN ASSEMBLED.
America cannot do this alone, and we must rely on the support and cooperation of all our allies to do their part to ensure global peace and security. For over four generations, our own family has sent our sons and daughters to war on behalf of America and often for the interests of our allies. It is time they all stand up and do more than just rely on America. Therefore, I have great hope for the US/NATO/EUROPEAN UNION/AUKUS/QUAD, especially the new, stronger ties with INDIA, the largest Democracy in the world and its critical role in balancing out China, strengthening JAPAN, allowing SOUTH KOREA’s Industry to help smaller nations to buy defensive assets, the Philippines for allowing the US to expand the use of their strategically critical location, as well as the cooperation of many of our other other partner and allies around the globe.
Finally, we must also stop our failed policy of supporting regime change, which has caused more harm than good. Proof: Libya, Egypt and Syria. Instead, we should allow the people to organically determine their future while we continue to focus ourselves on a positive future without taking our eyes off the ball and becoming lackadaisical and ignoring what is happening around the world and being proactive in dealing with both threats and opportunities for lasting peace, freedom, and advancement of humanity.

The immediate difference is the sidelining of Mari Alkatiri, Fretilin's chief strategist, following his forced resignation as Prime Minister. Suggested charges against Alkatiri (for arming para-militaries, during the coup attempt) will go nowhere. The 'hit squad' accusations, broadcast by Australia's ABC, have no credibility. But the Australian media and military intervention which helped topple the leadership of an elected government flags a new political reality for East Timorese citizens.
The Australian newspaper, leader of the anti-Alkatiri charge, says his removal will be "good news for Australian companies wanting to do business in Dili". But Fretilin remains (by a long way) the major party in Parliament. Rupert Murdoch's flagship insists the "continuing crisis" requires a semi-permanent Australian troop presence to block what the paper calls a "Marxist revolutionary" government and because "there is no other way to keep the country from sliding back into chaos".
Other Australian commentators sympathetic to this line are already muttering the need to abolish the country's army. Indeed, it seems that Xanana's authority with a number of army commanders has been undermined, as a result of his perceived sympathy with the Reinado-led rebels. But abolition of the army would lead very quickly to calls for the establishment of a permanent Australian military base in East Timor, a major dilemma for a people who fought so hard for independence.
