As hard as these stories are to listen to, we owe it to these men and women to listen and keep listening. Their stories need to be heard. They experienced nothing short of pure horror for so long and it didn't end with the liberation of the camps. They carried that horror for the rest of their lives. Our minds could never comprehend such a breakdown of civilization.

@@ljmcdonald2703 Yeah I noticed the interviewer did that with the _Kitty Hart Moxon_ interview. They kept interrupting her during certain spots of the recording and even got a little testy/snippy at some points when Kitty was telling her story. I was so bothered on Kitty's behalf. Her story is an amazing one to hear and sometimes when these survivors tell it, they would remember something new that they previously forgot. So it's important to let them speak, especially when they remember new details that's were never mentioned before.

I have become fascinated with these accounts of actual people who when through this terrible time. It really brings it to life. It is different from watching a documentary or a movie about the time. For some reason I can vividly visualize what they are talking about and it is so much better than movies. Plus you see her facial expression, the emotion in her eyes, her body language. It must take courage and bravery to be able to tell the story. It is so invaluable. I listened to her story with headphones on and closed my eyes and I saw what she saw. Her description of everything was so vivid. Seeing it through the eyes of a child, it basically floored me and I wept. When she spoke about hearing the boots and that she continues to fear when she hears the sound of boots. She won my heart. What a remarkable person. A true tribute to civilization. I have found another role model. Thank you so much for this channel. To be hidden in such grim places, and left all alone, only to be betrayed and almost killed. Parents don't even let kids that age go to the Park alone these days. To have survived all that, and the camps, and remained sane is astounding. But there was also the Holodomor from 1932-1933 in the Soviet Union that systematically starved Ukrainians, there were actually about 7 million Ukrainians who were murdered in that short time through systematic and purposeful starvation. This was the Silent Holocaust, but no less terrifying and devastating. If you start doing research on Genocides you will begin to see how many people's are and have been exterminated for their race or beliefs, it's terrifying and unforgivable. There are 5 Genocides happening right now. You should do the research, it's absolutely horrifying.

These stories remind me that we need to be very aware of what’s happening in our own country, not look away or think it cant ever get this bad. Imagining me and my loved ones in this situation reminds me of how fragile our republic is. It reminds me of how fragile life is, and how fortunate I am. Sorry, I have to comment again. I really liked this interviewer. She just allowed this lovely lady to talk and it somehow , just flowed. The story about the boots so made me smile for her but when she risked her life for the bread 🥖, and it was taken away from her - you could feel her anguish. It sounds trite when we say it but it’s meant so honestly. 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Unfortunately there are less and less holocaust survivors alive to tell their story in person. Crazy to realise my child mostly wont see them alive only the videos and books what remains.
The average age of remaining holocaust survivors is 85 (in 2020)

Before she got it down I said, I was sorry for what they did, please know she is welcome here.. She left talked to her sister an the next thing I knew I was sitting in their kitchen with my parents and learning what they went through... Mengele talking all nice and paternal, then telling children gathered around he would reunite them with their families any who stepped forward and then killing all of them and their family members. This shows unequivocally what a monster he was at his core. This did not involve any scientific or medical research (with which he justified his experiments). This did not occur in his lab. He went to where those kids were just to do this, I assume as some sort of revenge for the impending defeat. And having them ‘choose’ was probably even more pleasurable for this sadist. It’s too bad he died before being arrested. I shouldn’t say this, but I hope if even for a fraction of a second he knew he was drowning when he did; that if he had a heart attack while swimming it didn’t immediately render him unconscious and there was time enough for him to find himself helpless.

Is this correct? I know it's four years on but I'm hoping you get this message since I was wondering if there's another reason for it, which I've yet to come across?!!!
