- I take a look at the Rally Expansion for Forza Horizon 5, which features some awesome roads, one of my all time favourite rally cars and a even a new rallying game mode.

This map definitely looks more exciting to play around than the mainland. Playground did somehow manage to make Mexico feel dull. Glad this looks better.
yeah, they managed to make it suuuper dull. oh look, to the left of the map! desert! oh, up top more desert! to the right.. oh... it's more desert.. the bottom? still mostly desert... really, really bland.
horizon maps are never that great tbf, the roads are always enormous with very little character. modders on assetto corsa do a better job of creating realistic and fun public roads for free.
Geez, the Forza community is the whiniest bunch of people in history...

The sentiment of the map at launch for this game was basically 100% positive and no one thought it was dull. Everyone found it an upgrade over FH4. In reality, It wasnt. it was just new. And fresh, and now its old, and stale. Its amazing to me how blind the mass majority of people are to these kinds of things. It really just comes down to "new thing shiny, Old thing crusty and boring".
All of the cars you tried to put anti lag on can have antilag, you have to put the turbo on and then go to the turbo updgrades and apply it there
These are the type of roads that forza should have consistently. There are way too many highspeed roads, and sure it makes s2 class almost like a drag race sometimes, but for lower class cars these roads are perfect, and actually takes a lot more skill than just holding it wide open around high speed corners consistently.
I'm glad someone got it early. My xbox is saying completes in 7 hours.

To be honest, when I started playing FH5 it was really cool, but after a while I started to feel that FH4's map was better in some ways (FH4 is the first game in the series that I played). I miss the seasonal changes where the entire map is covered in snow (the lego expansion does add a snow area but the lego expansion is pretty much already forgotten)., and FH5 only has snow on top of the volcano. Having the types of races have their own category (wilds, street, etc) and now having an expansion based on wilds could potentially be used to have an expansion for each race type.
Perhaps ironically when they were teasing that this iteration of Horizon was taking place in Mexico, I envisioned a larger part of the main game would be like this. Being a big Trophy truck and Baja enthusiast, this was right up my alley.
I drove Colins actual focus rally car many years ago, only off a lorry into our showroom at Hendy Ford's in Chandler ford. It had been converted into a drivable arcade machine that had a big projector in front of it, ran by a PlayStation. Couple of days later we watched the twin towers fall on the showrooms tv live as it happened.... The good old days 😄👍

Just like you, i grew up playing the CmR Rally games as well, the only reason i got this DLC was that Legendary Focus RS i drove for countless hours as a kid, but i found myself really surprised at how much fun i had playing it, the roads are amazing, and the rallying is way better than i expected. A very fun DLC and the Focus is fuckin dope, and it sounds eargasmic lol. Hope PG do way more stuff like they did here.
Looks awesome. Hopefully the rally area is an extension of the main map and not just a toy set you teleport to.

This map takes me back to Austrailia and the roads in Blizzard Mountain. It's really flipping good. I like the rally so much! I'd love to see it added to Mexico. It's a blast and needs to be a new race type going forward.
I wonder if they have introduced 'rally' mechanics... Pendulum turns, left foot braking, hand brake turns giving you more speed. For any that don't know rally driving is mostly foot to firewall and breaking the traction to slow for turns.
Same, i also wanted Rally expansion, and i gonna play this a lot. I expect uploading of VS races, like Subaru VS Mitsubishi and others. Real pity they did not add circuit races.

I really love some of the roads around this place.
The lack of new rally cars is offset, for me at least, by the anti lag turbo. I just made a rally Mitsubishi Eclipse that handles incredibly well
In horizon 2 my S1 main was the rock star trophy truck. The huge tires and the big power worked really well for me.
Already looking foward for the awsome racing that will be done in these tracks!
as people know the expansions are sort of test beds for the next game so i think this map i think is their testing ground for the roads on the next game's map. this one feels like they made the roads first then built a nice environment around it instead of the usual build a nice map and put a road on it.
This DLC might actually bring me back to Forza. I don't know why, but I love dirt racing with big trucks and buggies. Something that felt lacking in the main map. The jungle was great, but aside from that the main map is so boring.
Didn't play a huge amount of this yesterday but I actually enjoyed myself.
Without a doubt its a much, much better DLC than Hot Wheels because I had enough of that DLC after 20 mins, where as with the rally expansion im looking forward to getting back onto it when I can.
I highly recommend putting anti lag onto the S1 Quattro I had a huge amount of fun doing rally stages with it yesterday.
The expansion is excellent, I love the Roads and Races ✌️👍
One turbo I've noticed that doesn't allow anti-lag is the one fitted to the Nissan Titan engine. Could be that none of the diesels allow for anti-lag.
Also, anti-lag is a specific kind of race turbo option, as shown with the Focus. Basically any car with a race turbo upgrade has the option of anti-lag.

Race idea : makeshift team racing
Teams of 3
Choose 3 different manufacturers and 3 different classes of cars. Between you and your two teammates you have to use one of each car manufacturer and one of each class of car, but this way different teams mix and match manufacturers and car class differently.
All happens in one race so it's actually 3 races in one
hmm... this map got a lot of potential, even for me that likes more racetrack styled tracks... i can asphalt a lot of it with a bit of patience and come with a lot of cool circuits.
(also, more Underwater challenges, YAAAAY!!!)

Hope this is a glimpse of 6 with the new engine next-gen only I hope. The terrain details and elevation changes and angles in this dlc in a full game would be magnificent

Seems they improved the mechanics for the dirt particles, from fh4 to fh5 how much dirt gets kicked up behind the car definitely decreased but it seems the rally dlc made it better

Honestly I'm a little disappointed ... not because this is bad, but because this is what could have been in the base game ... like the map isn't that rally specific, this is what could have been a standard zone in the base game

Go to the engine section to upgrade your turbo and put the antilag version, ALL TURBO can have one

The lack of circuits is really annoying. Unless they changed it from the last time I messed around with the track editor you can only build circuit races from circuit start points and point-to-point races from point-to-point starts. As far as I can tell that means no multi-lap races on this map. I guess that fits with rally racing but it means no rallycross events.
You can build circuits anywhere on any start point
were you using street races? you have to do some messy ui stuff to get a circuit out of those but the other three types you can just drive into the back of the starting grid to close the loop
@@kaiserruhsam no u don’t. It’s so simple have you ever used the route creator? Just draw a route and put the finish line down, or drive back to the start for a circuit race
@@sparkietrap6257 street races are all point to point, you have to change the event type in in the menu to set the lap number
the Anti lag is where you UPGRADE the turbo not put the turbo on....
Have you ever done anything with Eventlabs in FH5 or hosted user created races like you do on GTA 5?

The biggest disappointment in this series is that the game is build to run the ultra 4 buggies. You can’t get stuck, and it’s low speed crawling stuff and lack of low range really pulls the fun out of them. Also: Thanks goodness they finally put hood twisty roads in the game.
Whose idea was the annoying helicopter? Did they have budget they needed to burn?
Whoever it was should be drawn and quartered. It makes the primary gameplay modes offered nearly unplayable for me.
i dont do expansions/dlc's especially for stuff that should have clearly been in the game from the beginning, call me old fashioned but i prefer my games whole and not cut up for dlcs

I can't access the update. Every time I go to check it out, it tells me to install it, so I do, and then it dissappears. I have the ultimate edition.

microsoft/microsoft developers not having their shit together.. pretty sure it's been that way since way before i was born.
Are you on PC Game Pass? Issues like that crop up from time to time, usually fixed by going to the Microsoft Store app and doing your update from there. If it's an actual Xbox, putting the console through a restart often helps.

Here's my constructive criticism: That helicopter can f--- right off. Any positives I have about the gameplay are drowned out by the overwhelming, monotonous noise. It's an amazingly stupid design choice.

I simply don't get the necessity of a rally expansion, when rally when Forza sucks after all. How can you be able to do 250 km/h in a offroad terrain and jump from mountains? Where is the challenge in all of that?

@@theairplaneguy9640 and that's actually perfect setup for rally, which they did not add immediately but i am happy they added it now.
Problem this island map will have is that when all is said and done although the car physics are much better in FH5,the main map itself is a bit meh.

Probably. They always test features in other games before full release. I think it'll basically try to emulate what gt has/had. With a large focus on rally and then road racing broken up into stuff like time trials and actual races.
I might be a minority, but the road still seems too wide. Definetly on the more technical for horizons standards but nowhere near the level of games like dirt rally and certain maps on beamng.
Agreed. If they want a more authentic rally feel they should narrow the roads a bit. Or make some of the asphalt roads one lane instead of two lanes.
This map still seems like basic ass mexico. When you call something a "Rally map" then it should have tight punishing roads, not like this where you have walls and if not then you're completely safe if you fly off. The name "Rally expansion" really does not fit for this. Same roads, different turns. That's why I like FH4 Fortune Island and the road that goes next to the cliffs. It's tight, you make a mistake and you pay for it a lot more. Whether it be a complete stop or a yeet off the cliff.

That's like saying "This puzzle piece fits exactly where I need it to go and it matches the pattern perfectly, but I'm not going to put it in." If It's cool and and good and fits, use the dang thing. Why would you not? There's no reasonable explanation for NOT using it!! I try to enjoy this channel ... I really do ... but ... your thinking is just ... WRONG ... SO.MUCH.OF.THE.TIME!
doesn't matter if how fitting they are if somebody doesn't like driving buggies and trucks. if i buy it i'll try to use all of them at least a little but part of my reluctance is that i'm not terribly interested in the included vehicles.
