- The largest producer of fresh eggs in the U.S., Cal-Maine Foods, has temporarily halted production in a Texas plant after bird flu was found in its chickens. The virus has also been detected at an unrelated poultry facility in Michigan.

The bigger issue is how is bird flu getting into chicken facilities where the chickens dont leave the facilities? These arent free range chickens. If you have it in barns its being brought in. Biosecurity should be checked. Or is it another way to just raise prices?

Eggs are a huge problem because we use them in almost every form of cooking and people eat them for breakfast and stuff like that. There’s virtually no replacements for eggs. And we blow through dozens and dozens when it’s Passover time. And guess what? Passover starts on April 22.

Bird flu is common this time of year and is spread by wild ducks that land in chicken pens, I would also point out that Cal-Maine Foods are large supporters of Trump if had done a simple search of their donations.

He said hn1 bird flu , one of kiddos got the hn1 resp. Infection as a toddler he wasnt no where near chickens, or birds, there was a huge cold front at that time, we lived inn the country for eight years consuming chicken eggs not bought at stores he never got sick during that time, just some input. There information migt be wrong, all upper respiratory issues come from the air and whether changes that occur seasonally.
Of course they got it wrong. The only question is why. Why would they have an indoctrinated people doctor to give information about chicken health? It is IMPOSSIBLE for diseases to jump species. This doesn't happen for millions of years, but we're special? Really?
The bird flu was never a big issue to begin with to catch any disease from a chicken is as difficult as catching a disease from a turtle= a slim chance. This is more related to the trend of the FDA attacking Amish farmers and looking for reasons to do so.

They don't even do them; they just report a "suspected case." The news reports it as if it is real, and people freak out. Mission accomplished with minimal expense and effort.

Bull…! Bull…! Bull…!!! It’s this effed up governments way of controlling farmers and maintaining high prices. If you look deep into it I bet my legs there is some local politician with a vested interest.
But what about Chicken to human cross contamination or infection. They didn't even mention that! So we are getting the flu from chicken.
There have only been two cases now of avian flu in people in this country. The first was a year or so ago and now the man who caught it from an infected cow. Although this flu spreads very easily between birds and animals - industrial food animals that are crammed into pens - a human only catches the virus from close physical contact with an infected animal and then as of now cannot pass the infection along to another human. The concern is that some day a human will be infected with avian flu while they are ill with say regular influenza helping the avian flu to mutate into a new virus that now is passed via droplets between people…though that’s fortunately very unlikely. The bigger issue is protecting the industrial animal flocks or herds from a massive pandemic…which is why you read about the destruction of millions of egg layers. My apologies, but I’m a nurse with 28 years experience and sometimes speak up to respond when someone sounds concerned. I hope this helps.
