Using this teacher's strategies for teaching norms helps students be more self-aware and articulate. I was amazed at how well they could express themselves. The focus on inclusiveness and cooperation is a very powerful tool.

I like a positive learning environment . A positive greeting in the morning sets the tone for the day. A smile and saying good morning using the students name, goes a long way.

I love this! I am starting a lunch group for my grade 8 students to come and hang and just have some open discussions to help them communicate and share and be accepting of one another in the age of social media. This is a great way to start things off!!

Almost 200,000 views but only 5 comments. Anyway, when you say you do this everyday, do you mean all 180 days or the first couple weeks of school, then whenever a different situation, like the game, or a test, warrants it?

Being proactive with community norms yields the best results. Start off strong and frequent at the beginning of the school year. Build momentum and buy-in. Then, whenever you are engaging students in activities or protocols that require a lot of communication, collaboration or movement, it's important to review norms and visualize how they'll come into play. Novelty is important, so switch things up. Refresh the class's approach for discussing and reflecting on norms from time to time. Also, if the norms aren't working, invite students into a conversation about tweaking them to be more relevant or useful.

Hello! I would love permission to share this as part of a program to support teacher's to develop social norms? Could I have permission?
