So surprised you went for a motorhome.
I am definitely one of them people who looks at them fibreglass boxes and goes "nah!".
I understand them... but where I take my Crafter, I just couldn't.
You are going to love driving that on those tiny roads in Scotland. Watch for the logging lorries for a start as they will happily take your wing mirrors off. There will be a number of siies ahead.. Good luck with it...
Yeah its 30cm wider than what we have and around 90cm longer but we drive those exact roads around 160 days per year for the past 5 year. Generally its people that are not as experienced that seem to have such a problem. Although the wing mirrors i can imagine will be a bit of an extended bumper no doubt!
I am sure you will have no problems. Thanks for the books and keep up the work.
Enjoy your videos, the motorhome is a fantastic upgrade. Your music choice is shocking!😅
You will love the adli heating , it’s near silent in operation, give a nice even heat around van . Blown air heats up quicker but it’s noisy and looses heat in big vans.
Congratulations guys. We bought our k yacht 86 in May and it's a lovely van. The alde wet heating is a game changer compared to our last van. Marquis have been good with aftersales so far. Few things we had to go back for but the biggest problem was waiting for any parts we needed. Check your decals as a few of ours need replacing but we won't be back in the UK until Christmas. Enjoy the van guys and maybe see you on the road one day. 👍
Ah sweet, we looked at the K Yacht ones initially as a friend recommended A classes. Quite liked the slightly more (emphasis on slightly) sporty and cool look of the Fiat front end that i can modify hopefully quite a bit to make it look a tad less dull.
Decal wise i plan on taking them all off, every single one hopefully so fingers crossed they are falling off already haha.
@@ChrisSloanes looking forward to seeing what you come up with. 👍 Cheers
Glad to see you guys back with the vlogs really looking forward to your future trips, especially the European ones congrats on the new van my man can’t wait to see the upgrades you put on it👍🏽
We started Motor homing in 2013 ,having two Motor homes (decided that these are not designed by campers). Then in 21 we downsized to a Eldiss CV20, ,which was great. However we saw Consort campervan ,built by campers for campers. So this week we now have a Consort Pace ,fantastic two berth, huge fridge, huge boot , so much storage space ,my advice is always check sizes, depth of cupboards etc, some cupboards are not that deep ,sunroofs are a waste of storage space on hot days when driving, you have to keep the blinds closed, ,do captains chairs turn fully round. Best of luck
Congrats Chris & Dani to your new motorhome. It should be interesting to see your mods on this.
Hi Chris, we bought the NEC show P80 in 2023, Marquis have been good, Mobilvetta are very slow approving repairs. The van has been fantastic. Looking forward to see what you do to it.
We rented a van similar to your VW last year but found it lacking in storage space, ended up going for a similar motorhome type thing, not as fashionable looking as the more modern van lifers but far more practical, subscribed for more adventures.
Great stuff Chris.....really looking forward to seeing what you do with it...and of course your moaning....you are very much the Terry Collier of the campervab world 😁👍
The only advice I would give to anyone buying new from a dealer is don’t listen to the sales pitch from the dealer regarding after sales service. The real decision makers on whether anything gets done under warranty is made by the Manufacturer not the Dealer
After sales is nearly always a nightmare. Bought new 5 years ago and had serious issues with after sales. Never again.
We were interested in that model. Love the layout especially in the winter months.Good luck
Hi Chris, the incinerator toilet sounds great in theory, but I would want to do a lot more research before I added one to my Motorhome. I saw a video of the Van Wives who tried an incinerator toilet in their home and it didn’t go well. I suggest you speak to people who have had them fitted for 12-24 months and ask for their honest opinion. If you do get it fitted, please do a user video after 3-6 months of use.
Congratulations, wish you and Danni all the best in your future travels
Marquis area good lot, I've been dealing with them for my autotrail for the last year. In fact was down there last week parked in that same spot. Small world. Like you say, I've has issues over the last year with mine but as long as you keep in regular contact with them, they have been first class to deal with.
Looks sweet, cannot wait to see what you do to it, glad your both back at it
I agree the time you are on the road you need the space …… but I’ve driven many vans over the years and being behind the wheel of that make and similar models are not in my opinion as comfortable to drive over longer distances …. I wish you all the best and look forward to future vlogs
Probably not mate but it’s all a trade off with vans. Bigger van more space, bigger van more of a pain 😂 small easy van like the grand California, no space or anywhere to move inside
Interesting option - looks amazing, and a very nice space - I just dont see you trying to take that one up a narrow Scottish track - ala the things you have pushed the Grand Cali through. But I will look forward to watching the new adventures with interest - and what you do with the electrical system.
I'm always concerned about these electric drop down beds.
Parts will wear out or fail and it won't be at a convenient time or place.
They also add weight high up while you are driving which is exactly where you don't want it.
Only gone and bought a van myself this week. I’ll be getting a few travel guides off you in the not too distant future.
Decided to go the other way. Our A Class now on the market and we’re looking for a Converted VW MAN or Merc
Loved our A Class but feel it’s right time to change
Think it’s such a personal thing ain’t it. Depends on what stage you’re at in your travels and what kind of space you need really.
@@ChrisSloanes Chris you’re dead right. We’ve done our big Euro tours. We now want to explore the places a 7.5m A Class struggles to get into. Enjoy the Motorhome. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed
Hi Chris what van is this ? i can’t see in any your vids if you’ve mentioned make/model.
I’m after Roller Team 747 & your interior is slightly the same but i prefer yours. Would appreciate if you can tell me cheers
hey mate, its a Mobilvetta P80
@@ChrisSloanesThanks Mate. Keep up the good work your videos are class and a true inspiration
I'll not lie. I jumped straight to the very end to see if you had bought the Campervan. And, now, I can't wait until the very next video.
I’ve got the grand California too and will probably go this way so I’m keen to see how you get on,
Your 100% going to moan about changing gear I recon lol😂
Goodluck guys,
Amazing van. What model is it please?
If I was to be picky that 3/4 door on the drivers side towards the rear does not match the rest of the wood effect, it's gloss and the woodgrain is running in the wrong direction.
I also have never been a lover of front wheel drive and I would be concerned over the reliability of these motors. Jus me two penneth !
By the way I have LWB Merc sprinter and it's been a diamond. However good luck with yer purchase and the next episodes.
It looks Lovely, 1 question, where are the dogs going to stay, im sure you have a plan.
Chris has your Grand California sold yet? Thanks Paul
Not yet mate
@@ChrisSloanes can you please give me the link to the details etc… thanks
Glad you’re sorted, but you will whinge 😂 that is until you get it how you want it. Looking forward to your first trip in it. Enjoy your wait 😂😂😂👍
Nice one. Looking forward to the new vids 👍
Very swish 👌 looking forward to the first episode of a big euro trip 👏
Nice layout…I like the rear lounge and front dining area…..However do you not think the bigger van will make it a lot harder in parking etc, therefore possibly restrict your travel itinerary.
Maybe mate. It’s been a big debate for a while as it’s a big trade off but ultimately the only way to find out is to try it haha
Looks like a nice van mate, looking forward to you improvements and upgrades
@@ChrisSloanes Look forward to seeing the results
Hi Chris. I was looking at another video and the reviewer said the P80/2 was designed for 2 people and max weight was 3.5k. There is another version which is 4.5kg. Your video shows the exterior of a P80/2 unless that was a stock shot from another vehicle.
I suggest you look at the paperwork and investigate and then check what the available payload is. Especially if you are travelling with family and want to add a lot of modifications.
If it is 4.5kg I assume you have the correct licence, but I would still weigh the vehicle before you start adding heavy batteries, solar panels and gas cylinders to the Motorhome. You don’t want to be overweight.
Yeah mine is the 3.5. There’s only the two of us that go away. Payload has 350kg additional left over so the lighter lithium upgrade will add around 30kg. Legs around 70kg. Leaves me with around 250 ish for our crap.
@@ChrisSloanes I would still take it to a weigh-bridge, especially if there are any additional manufacturer options fitted to the base vehicle. As you are mainly off grid, you also need to factor in the weight of water, waste you will be transporting and full 11kg gas bottles. It all starts to eat into payload. Also you need to add in 1 passenger which manufacturers assume is 75kg and will come out of your 250kg available.
@@MikeGibson-Sharpe suppose the 5% leeway technically gives me another 175kg should I be close before I’d be getting any fines. We travel light to be fair so I’m still expecting to have a bit to play with.
@@ChrisSloanes I’m not too worried about the police/DVLA fine. I’m more concerned about the insurance company invalidating a claim in case of an accident. They could be less forgiving.
I'm genuinely surprised you have gone with a coach build 😮
2 drop down beds. Does that affect the payload? Interesting though
You'll love the space a Motorhome brings over a Panel Van..both have their Pros/Cons but hard to beat the space.
This is exciting!
Congrats 🎉
Has anyone done a study and made a quality rank table of the different main makes of campervan?
What van is it???
Just my opinion....but.....
The music is 😡
Good reviews, currently sat in Arisaig campsite off the back of the ultimate Scottish road trip book in me 24 plate VW Crafter, customised by Jerba and absolutely loving life but I agree the music is beyond shite.
Class 👏
Would say that is a motorhome rather than a campervan 👴🏼
Mobilvetta?
Oh no, age related moHo purchase! 😊
Is this still a van ? 😊
Kinda? 😂😂
I’ve got the grand California too and will probably go this way so I’m keen to see how you get on,
Your 100% going to moan about changing gear I recon lol😂
Goodluck guys,
I moan about everything mate so probably haha.
