@@ethanlappin and when we get crap gifts that we say we like we can call the next day Boxing up Day, it might catch on actually. FYI those gifts were great, I don't think they will be boxed up tomorrow (well the day after three weeks ago when they filmed this)
You obtain objects and... instead of keeping them, you 'present' them to other people? But then, wouldn't you have less things of your own? That seems like a net loss. Unless there's some other, intangible factor I'm missing that is gained through selflessly giving to others? No, I'm afraid I can't wrap my head around this.
Oh wow that really screwed up my internal calendar. Thanks for reminding me that it isn't saturday and that I should watch Luke and Andy's DCOM podcast xD
You two are the loveliest people to ever come out of a computer screen and just make everyone feel as family😍Thank you for keeping this going with the same dedication and care as day 1, you are definitely special people🥰🥰🥰
Jon "This better not be nice and thoughtful otherwise I'll cry" Also Jon: leaves the others on the couch so he can zoom in on the glass so we don't see him cry.
I'm brazilian so our Christmas celebrations were yesterday (I think some places only celebrate on the 25th, right?) and I ate so much I actually couldn't sleep. You can bet I'm glad to have these two making me company in this early morning! Love the gifts and the Spider-Gwen sweater Ellen is wearing. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!
I'm American and technically they are celebrated in the 25th but even here hispanics/latinos celebrate on the 24th so my celebrations were also yesterday lol Merry Christmas!
AWWW It's nice to know that you guys as a group really do know and care about each other including poor Jon. This was an absolutly wonderful and cute show today. Thank you for sharing it with us. Happy Holidays!!!!!!!
Wrapping is not hard to do. The easiest object to wrap is a rectangular box capable of standing on its own and ideally not too much bigger than the item inside. Measure the paper to only be slightly bigger on the endcaps and then neatly fold them so they barely overlap (at 2:40 those endcaps are massive). My only other tip is to not use scissors to cut the paper but use a rotary cutter and a couple of cutting mats found at most craft supply stores. Results in nice, clean cuts with minimal waste.
Merry Christmas and a happy festive season to you all. This community is amazing and I'm excited to see what other presh mems we can all make together in future :)
Luke is one of those people where the joy of presents truly is in the giving; he is SO excited about everything and so pleased by the gifts that I just want to send him new things every week. Side note: "all you need is a friend- ohh." Was pretty much my experience growing up. Cleaning up for xmas, my mum asked me why I never played any of the board games she got me as a child. Because... who would I play them with?!
I adore Ellen's christmasy Spider-Gwen sweater! At first I was confused seeing a spider on it untim I saw all of it. I also got one of these pokeball figures. As far as I know they're handmade and they can't send them per mail
Honestly very happy that my viewership and engagement is turning, alchemy-like, into present-buying money for the Oxtra crew. Happy holidays to you lot!!
Merry Christmas to everyone in OX, and merry Christmas to everyone else in this community. Everyone is really nice and it's great to be part od such nice and loving community ❤
Luke your attempt at wrapping might have been abysmal, but you picked some awesome wrapping paper, and you tried which is the most important part. Hope you guys are having a very merry Xmas, and a happy new year.
It is heartwarming to see that the dynamic we saw at the start of the channel has blossomed into this friendship so many years later. Merry Christmas to all of you!
Some ancestors or Luke's must have passed on this family tradition to some of my ancestors because we've been practicing this "present" giving thing in my family for ages, on the other side of the world. Greetings from OZ and Merry OXmas to you lot.
7:40 "some of their distant relatives still live among us" Clearly, that book went to print before the latest research on turtles came out. Turtles are descended from dinosaurs.
Luke's deadpan explanation of the estoric ritual called Christmas Presents is part of why I like this channel just a wee bit more than other... similar shows.jk i love them all!
Thank you for the entertainment over the past three years, happy holidays and blessings to you all. ELLEN is rocking that spider made fit. I hope 2024 is more productive, profitable for you all and everyone that accepts the hope...
The sweater game in this video is off the charts! What lovely thoughtful presents, and of course, this Show of the Weekend is the Christmas present for the fans. I mean, you didn’t forget to get us a present, did you?
Judging by that Han Solo, I think that glass is from the dimension where Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap) got the role, and Harrison Ford stayed a carpenter.
How is it possible that every single SotW made me laugh? And I watched every single one of them at least twice. Yes, every single one! Waching these is the best 15 minutes of my week.
Happy Holidays to you and yours. Thanks for another year of babysitting all of us. -Also Producer Jon, I had that very same StarWars glass when it first came out. 😊
Luke mentioned how they rendered Obi-Wan, and as soon as I saw it I thought it was present day Roger Taylor from Queen. Seriously, look him up, he has the white beard and everything! 🤣🤣🤣
I feel Luke's pain. My family can always tell which presents I've bought because they look like they were wrapped by a frightened wild animal that was given wrapping paper and tape and thrown into a cage with them.
This is so wholesome and a perfect way to start my day. You guys are really good at giving presents. That D20 is lovely. I hope to see that dinosaur game in a Show of the Weekend. That Star Wars glass is awesome. All I could think of was Luke's cursed engagement rolls in Blades in the Dark (famously that 1 Johnny and Jane had to start with) when he rolled that D20 and added a -2 modifier. Honestly, as long as my elbow gets fixed and I can finally bend it again, then 2024 will already be slightly better than the entire last month and a half of 2023.
If Luke wants to add a two minute “this week’s page of dinosaurs” to every SOTWE next year, I would not be disappointed
I would fully support Luke's petition to do just that.
That or at least 3 episodes fully dedicated to the book. More would certainly be fine.
Do it! Do it! Do it!
Please do this!
Good of Luke to give us the best present at the end: existential dread
The Westaway tradition shall be preserved.
I don't see it catching on though
Hmm... let me think we already do that don't we it's called Shitmas
@@ethanlappin and when we get crap gifts that we say we like we can call the next day Boxing up Day, it might catch on actually.

Your username paired with that killer Unohana pfp is absolutely a Christmas present by itself.
Show of the Weekend on a Monday? Truly a Christmas Miracle!
Oh wow that really screwed up my internal calendar. Thanks for reminding me that it isn't saturday and that I should watch Luke and Andy's DCOM podcast xD
Omg yeah I hadn't even realised
Guess you could say this is a... Show of the Week?!
Luke: I can't believe it's going to be 2024
Ellen:
The greatest Christmas gift of all, existential dread.
Exactly! I felt that deep in my soul too XD lol
The oxtra presents videos have actually become a part of my Christmas tradition at this point
I look forward to going through the dinosaur annual in excruciating detail over the coming weekends of the year
Merry Christmas to Outside Xtra and everyone else in this community. I'll see all of you in the new year.
You two are the loveliest people to ever come out of a computer screen and just make everyone feel as family😍Thank you for keeping this going with the same dedication and care as day 1, you are definitely special people🥰🥰🥰
I'm not superstitious and that dice roll still made me nervous. 😆Please let next year be better for everyone.
Although, for some reason, I got the ominous feeling that it should've been rolled with disadvantage.
Amen. We could all use a break.Either way, SOTW keeps us happy and (relatively) sane.
Don't worry. It's Jane that decides our fate, not Luke or Ellen.
I was half expecting a 1 crit fail
@@apemanolly Imagine the number of takes they cut where the magical die of prophecy dared to answer true.
This Westaway tradition, strange as it is, could just catch on.
There's the other tradition of kidnapping a pine tree and hanging cat toys off the branches.
Jon "This better not be nice and thoughtful otherwise I'll cry"
Also Jon: leaves the others on the couch so he can zoom in on the glass so we don't see him cry.
I like how all 3 of them reacted to their gifts, such happiness and joy from each.
Luke is just an 8 year old boy xD A sparkly die and a book about dinosaurs, love that for him
my family must be a distant branch of Westaways because we do something similar, but we call them "Christbirth exchanges"
I relate so much to Luke when wrapping presents. How do people make it look so easy!
And in the best of Kitty Cat traditions, when Ellen/Merilwen changes into cat form she'll also make use of the box the pokeball was gifted in too!!😼😋

Christmas appearance of the Cameraman Jon!
Merry Christmas and a happy festive season to you all. This community is amazing and I'm excited to see what other presh mems we can all make together in future :)
I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Westaway family for establishing the tradition of Christmas gift-giving enjoyed around the world.
Well this was just delightful. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
Luke is one of those people where the joy of presents truly is in the giving; he is SO excited about everything and so pleased by the gifts that I just want to send him new things every week.

Spider-Gwen jumper! Awesome!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays, Oxtra! May you have a lovely end of the year!
Great presents all around, but Holy Heck that Producer Jon gift! Was that sitting in some corner shoppe down a forgotten alley in London Town?
Damn, you guys found some really nice stuff for gifts. That must have taken a few days of toil in the consumerism mines of Tantalus 9.
I adore Ellen's christmasy Spider-Gwen sweater! At first I was confused seeing a spider on it untim I saw all of it.
I also got one of these pokeball figures. As far as I know they're handmade and they can't send them per mail
Luke's gift helps decide which lake the treasure goes in this time!
If anyone finds someone who looks at them the way Luke looks at that dice, you put a ring on them.
Can I just have the dice instead?
Ellen's laugh is the best Christmas pressie. Merry Christmas
I like the deluxe Adjudicator (our group's name for the giant d20s) that Luke got. I, too, DM and constantly think of the ocean.
Yo that's crazy, me and my family just finished handing each other these "Christmas presents". Perhaps we're actually distant Westaways after all!
Honestly very happy that my viewership and engagement is turning, alchemy-like, into present-buying money for the Oxtra crew. Happy holidays to you lot!!
The artstyle on the glass really reminds me of the deadlands character arts 😂. Merry christmas, folks 😊
The Westaway Tradition, The Westaway Gambit? What's Nextaway?
that cat wrapping paper itself is piece of art also.
My Christmas was not complete without Show of the Weekend! Thanks Luke, Ellen, and Jon! And happy holidays, everyone!
You have a big D20 and a 'roll the dice' game with 20 spaces on it. A perfectly balanced combination!
Seeing the genuine joy on these two nerds' faces makes me happy.
It is heartwarming to see that the dynamic we saw at the start of the channel has blossomed into this friendship so many years later. Merry Christmas to all of you!
i think this westerway tradition could catch on more then the theory that Link is Doomguy
Some ancestors or Luke's must have passed on this family tradition to some of my ancestors because we've been practicing this "present" giving thing in my family for ages, on the other side of the world. Greetings from OZ and Merry OXmas to you lot.
Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you to the Outside Xtra and outsidexbox teams for all the great times.
I'm with Luke on the scuffed wrapping - but it just makes it easier for people to open! It's a Christmas kindness if you think about it!
Oh, wow. Is my family related to the Westaways? We have the exact same family tradition! What a small world. Merry Christmas, cousin Luke.
History was made here today. This tradition surely will catch on. Sounds like such a splendid idea.
7:40 "some of their distant relatives still live among us"
Clearly, that book went to print before the latest research on turtles came out. Turtles are descended from dinosaurs.
my wrapping skills are the same as lukes. Knowing i'm not the only one is a gift
Have a similar terrarium, they're so cute
Luke's deadpan explanation of the estoric ritual called Christmas Presents is part of why I like this channel just a wee bit more than other... similar shows.jk i love them all!
Ellen gave Luke the tesseract / space stone for Christmas 😊
The love y'all have for each other is why you are my fave. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
Hope everyone has an extra special day today!
It's a crazy idea, it'll never catch on. I mean, what did you call them? Chris-t.. Christmas presents? Lunacy.
Thank you for the entertainment over the past three years, happy holidays and blessings to you all. ELLEN is rocking that spider made fit. I hope 2024 is more productive, profitable for you all and everyone that accepts the hope...
Ellen's spider-gwen sweater looks so cool and comfy. And i love the D20 she gave Luke
Luke's real gift to Ellen was perfectly teeing up that "present-tation" pun
Jon is so sweet, "It better not be thoughtful or I'll cry" XD
"Will 2024 be good?"
"What's the world like at the moment?"
"Oh yeah... Roll with disadvantage."
This was so lovely😊 Oxtra giving us the best gift of all with all the wholesome feels🥰 Happy Christmas all x
Enjoying each other's Christmas presents in each other's Christmas presence
The sweater game in this video is off the charts! What lovely thoughtful presents, and of course, this Show of the Weekend is the Christmas present for the fans. I mean, you didn’t forget to get us a present, did you?
Oxtra is level 100 friendship goals 😊
A rare sighting of producer Jon. I wonder how many people are at OutsideXbox HQ?
May the New Year be gentle to all at Outside Xbox, Outside Extra and all their viewers, over the holiday period and the year to come...
Merry Christmas, everyone, especially Luke and Ellen and producer Jon. Those presents are awesome, nicely done everyone involved, so thoughtful.
Judging by that Han Solo, I think that glass is from the dimension where Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap) got the role, and Harrison Ford stayed a carpenter.
Chickens, seagulls, and... cassowaries! That last one will leave you with no doubts that dinosaurs still live among us!
So nice to see producer Jon! Happy holidays, guys! 🎉
You guys have put many a smile on my face over the years. Thanks for all that and cheers! Happy holidays.
How is it possible that every single SotW made me laugh? And I watched every single one of them at least twice. Yes, every single one!

Luke being captivated by his present like a baby and some keys.
Happy Holidays to you and yours. Thanks for another year of babysitting all of us.
-Also Producer Jon, I had that very same StarWars glass when it first came out. 😊
Merry Christmas, you two. Here's to a great 2024!
Merry Christmas Outside Xtra! Thanks for all the fun and joy you bring all through the year 🎉 😊
That die is really entrancing.
Became a member to help replenish the Christmas present fund. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Did they get to see the t-rex in his holiday jumper at the Natural History Museum?
"All you need is a friend. Ah." - Luke Westaway, 2023
The only channel that could turn a children's book into months of content, Merry Xmas!
I love how bold choice Ellen's sweater is for an arachnophobe. You guys rock!
You guys are always amazing, adding John to the gift list is a great idea. John is the magic behind the camera, we love him. Merry Xmas!!!
Am I the only person who sings along with the Show of the Weekend opening song...? Can't help myself. It's a goofy little present all year.
Merry Christmas! Good to see the annual from where I work making an appearance ^_^
Merry Oxmas everyone!
Luke mentioned how they rendered Obi-Wan, and as soon as I saw it I thought it was present day Roger Taylor from Queen.
Seriously, look him up, he has the white beard and everything! 🤣🤣🤣
The excitement for the game until the need of a friend (chefs kiss)
Loving the arachnophobe Ellen wearing a Spider-Gwen “ugly” sweater.
And Jon is a lucky guy. I had all those cups, but lost them in a house fire.
This Westaway's onto something! (The gifts look amazing!)
I hope you all have a great Christmas ⛄
Aw, I thought for sure PJ would've gotten that Sonic LEGO set as his gift
the cold openings just get stronger and stronger
I feel Luke's pain. My family can always tell which presents I've bought because they look like they were wrapped by a frightened wild animal that was given wrapping paper and tape and thrown into a cage with them.
