Ha, that is the way I also make tortilla's. 😅 And agree, so much better than store bougth. The thing I've loved most last year was my balcony garden. I grew tomatoes, peppers, chilli's, green beans, lettuce and different herbs. I've enjoyed it so much and I can't wait to start again and try some new vegetables. I've also seen *Another Round* and loved the last scene. Check out the video on TH-cam were he is training for that dance scene. Love it.
I listen to the same exact Classic FM radio station from right here in Canada on an mobile app! I can't live without it! It's my zen happy-place to be in all day, every day! I especially enjoy it when they have the pet-friendly playlist series during celebrations on your end of the pond that calls for fireworks! Love, love, love your Classical FM radio station! Can't live without it, from right here in Montréal, Québec, Canada! 🥰
That clip of Alexander Armstrong! What a breath of fresh air! I got my first pair of Lucy and Yak dungarees in 2021 (and then bought three more) I havent tried the Alexa trousers though, they might have to be my next purchase ... I havent made my own torillas, but I made flatbreads this year that was literally natural yoghurt and flour and they were soooo good!
I really enjoyed my garden and BBC garden shows. Our Fraser Valley in Western Canada is similar to an English climate. My mom was a great gardener and I miss her.
Ever since you mentioned Bob Mortimer, I've been watching video clips of him nonstop, literally laughing out loud at most of his stories. Thanks for the new addiction. (First-time commenter, but long-time lurker)
Hi Jen, my name is Anita. I live in a very small town in the US. I have enjoyed your videos so very much. The last 7 months have been incredibly hard for me and my anxiety has been at an all time high! Your videos are very calming to me. Thank you so much❤️
Oh the UK can get really cold! A few years ago we traipsed across the pond to visit relatives and do the tourist-y things... And we brought no warm things because it was May. And oh my goodness! We borrowed coats and hats from our aunties, uncles, cousins for our Scotland portion of the trip. And when you look at the pictures, we look windblown, cold, miserable, and absolutely ridiculous as the coats were not exactly our sizes. 😂😂😂😂
2021 was the year I finally got into Bake Off! Like you with Succession, I'm actually kind of glad that it took me a while, since it meant I had so many seasons at-the-ready to binge and love!
You! You made me smile in 2021. And I look forward to more smiles in 2022. Saun Tan's "The Arrival" (on your recommendation). Feeding the birds. And the squirrels. And the fox. Crafting, and watching TH-cam craft videos. Winter trees on local walks. Long phone calls with friends and family. Rereading old favourite classics and some new books - not as many as I would if I could be tempted by bookshops, but not going out much. Fresh flowers, every now and then. And (every time) pretty Lola in your outro.
You solved my tortilla problem! I don’t like buying the store ones because they are full of additives and I just can’t find decent ones! I’ve already found masa flour online ✨🙏🏻
Paused video at 1.00 minute to write this! Not an exciting year!!????? Not an exciting year!!!!!!!?? You wrote and published a bloody book! That’s so exciting! Not to mention inspirational and very very very very hard to do! Also, every time you released a video it was pretty exciting too! Just wanted to pause and say you’re amazing Jen!
I also watched (and rewatched.. possibly multiple times) the Victorian Farm and the Edwardian Farm. Also really enjoyed the Wartime Farm (same historians involved), the Tudor Farm (Ruth and Peter are there too), and the Victorian Pharmacy. I've been on historical docuseries kick in 2021 and they all brought me comfort to watch
Your videos have been a great favourite in 2021 and am sure will continue to be. Cosy and comforting and a lovely escape from everything going on. Thank you. Happy birthday x
So glad Seasalt is getting a shoutout - I've been wearing their bretons for years and they last for ages! Will defo need to try the nail varnish subscription brand, those colours are so pretty!
I always enjoy your favourites videos 😊. If you've not seen Gone Fishing on the BBC with Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse I would highly recommend, it's a delight!
I love these videos so much! It's so wonderful to remember what makes us happy during such trying times. One small new book tuber that I have been loving lately is Rae of Sunlight - she is very calming and delightful. I bought the Peter Pan Tina Tarnoff necklace quite a few years ago when you first mentioned them, and I love it so much!
i loved 'lupin' and was sorry when i finished it up...just looking for something new to watch having ended 'the good place' sadly on sunday so will check out 'the chair' now and have it ready to go on netflix. i live in u.s. and often goods and shows don't overlap so this is a nice surprise. and a belated happy 35th birthday jen.
Happy Birthday Jen! I too loved It’s a Sin! Also thoroughly enjoyed The White Lotus and Dopesick. Also, my flatmate bought the Wild deodorant and she found that she needed to moisturise. X
Happy birthday Jen! Love this video and the mention of 'train man' because the whole bit is truly a delight! Just wanted to say thank you for mentioning OXO good grips a while ago, I recommended them to somebody at work (I'm an NHS OT) and it has helped them so much. So genuinely, thank you. And for recommending Nicci French, I'm eagerly awaiting my library getting more of their books!
Hi Jen - thank you for another great video. I live in the Southwest USA, and it's supposedly 'tortilla country' but in the storebought ones, it is just unbelievable how many creepy ingredients they have in a simple tortilla. So I started making my own with flour, but I've never tried using the masa. I'm looking forward to trying it. I'm sure there's masa in stores here but I just never noticed it!
Yesss I just got Wild too! I love it. I used to use Aromaco from lush which really worked for me but I was getting bored of the scent after using it for years. I also love that it has a case :)
Hello from Canada!! Discovering your vlog has been a highlight of 2021 for me! PS : My husband and I love board games as well and Patchwork is one of our favourites too !!!
My faves this year: Audiobooks Storyteller (Dave Grohl/Nirvana/Foo Fighters), All About Me (Mel Brooks); books: Mexican Gothic; Art supplies Derwent Inktense Pencils & Graphitint Watercolors; movie: 'Nothing Fancy' about Diana Kennedy - Mexican cooking doyenne who lives in Mexico - loved it; cosmetic: Weleda Skin Food Moisture; tv shows: Yellowstone, The Closer (old but 5 seasons or so), The Good Fight; Also loved the reality shows MillionDollar Listing New York City & Los Angeles; candles: fat Yankee candles - balsam - loved that fragrance!
Just have to say menopause takes away the need for thermals ( as we are sharing lol - menopause is the craziest state of mind - don't be afraid lol don't cry).I got Everdell a couple of weeks ago yet to begin playing.🤗
Hi Jen, thank you for such a heartwarming video! Something I have loved recently and think you might enjoy is "Restoration Home". It is a decade old house restoration series from the BBC and for some reason I just love it. It is a bit posh, but also very British and it has nice shots of the countryside and history and just makes me smile :) (it is also all on TH-cam).
I don't use natural deodorants because they never work longterm. For almost 6 months I have been hypochlorous spray for my underarms, just a couple of squirts and no smell and irritation.
Happy Birthday, Jen! Hope you had a lovely day. I really liked Bo Burnham's Inside as well. It is the kind of thing that when it was over I thought I should rewatch it immediately, because I felt like the subtext tentacles had wormed their way in and were tickling my psyche. I don't have access to many of the shows you mentioned (and I am on a bit of a media fast for the past 3 months or so), but it is good to know that there is a show out there that has made Jeremy Clarkson open his eyes, even if only a smidge. Also, I will have to track down Lupin, because that sounds like my cup of tea.
Thinking about what made me smile in 2021 is making me a bit uncomfortable for some reason. Because I'm pretty sure the thing that made me the happiest is expanding my Funko Pop collection. And I know it's not really a bad thing, but it is a lot of plastic and it doesn't do much. But it could also be my own insecurities about collecting something 'useless'. It made me happy anyway :). Loved the video. Kinda wish the Wild deodorant was available here.
Happy birthday Jen!! So many good recommendations, i took notes 👀 Things that made me smile in 2021: the Off Menu Podcast and consequently discovering James Acaster's comedy (i know i am late to the party but i'm not english😆) - which speaking of Would I Like to You, his Spice Girls album story and his cabbage story on there are SO FUNNY. Also, it's not technically 2021 but one thing that's brought me so much joy recently is Encanto!! So so beautiful and emotional, i love the songs, the characters, the story, the underlying meaning to it 🥺🥺🥺
Wild do vary on how moisturizing they are depending on the scent. Haven't found a need to moisturize but that could be a personal issue.. I do find they last well and are reasonably priced though and come in some really great scents
Hi Jen, I have swapped to Wild deodorant last year too and was quite happy with it, but I found a bit of dryness too. In the past I have occasionally used coconut oil on wet skin just after a shower and it controlled odors as well as moisturised my underarms. It was incredible. Unfortunately I can only get away with that in the summer, because I am Mediterranean after all and there is just too many layers in the winter and too much sweating. Sorry for the tmi comment, but I thought the coconut oil thing might interest you, as it's another low waste option
Happy Birthday Jen! I always shop when I watch you! Ordered the serious readers lamp and getting the smaller version free with your code. Thank you for the wonderful recommendation! x
Your videos are one cheering thing I watch regularly. I've heard great things about We Are Lady Parts, it's on my list. My list is very long though, I'm only just watching Killing Eve! Lupin is another on my list. Must get to it soon. Thanks for all the other suggestions.
So many people have recommended Lady Parts - I really need to check that one out. Would 100% recommend Feel Good (two seasons, Channel 4/Netflix) and Starstruck (one season, BBC) - two utterly brilliant romantic comedy* shows that have stayed with me ever since I finished them. (*Feel Good is admittedly more of a dramedy, dealing with substance abuse and trauma, but still very funny)
The last time you mentioned Lady Parts, I went and binged the whole thing. I love it so much! Thank you for the recommendation. It's such a great series.
The revamp of the Dark Crystal on Netflix was one of my fave recent things. It was better than the original in a lot of ways, though I still love the movie as much as the series.
I only care about Bob Mortimer too!! Love love love!! Do watch Mortimer & Whitehouse gone Fishing. It is otherworldly beautiful (nature, music, bucolic, humourous, gentle gorgeousness) And TED!! ❤️🐾❤️ And they always let the fish go “And aWAAAAY!”
I love the Patchwork board game, i recently found out you can get a christmas edtion. Speaking of which i was gifted the board game Century Golem, if you like Splendor you'll like this. Though i think i prefer Century Golem because theres a kind of decking building mechanic to acquiring a trading gems, rather than just picking them up like in Splendor. Its actually a reskin of Century Spice Road so whichever one you choose is simply down to which motif you prefer, Golems and gems or the spice road.
@@jenvcampbell Not really, theres more to it than Azul. If you look up Century Spice Road on the channel Watch it Played he does very good tutorial videos. The Spice Road and Golem edition of the game are exactly the same, its just which ever one looks nicer to you.
I'm only 5 mins in but I forget if I don't comment at the time sometimes!! I totally agree about Bob Mortimer on would I lie to you!! Have you seen the one about how he does his own dental treatment?! Such a funny show. Lee Mack, Rob Brydon & David Mitchell all crack me up. Just watched the train clips, brilliant 😂
More comments as I go! Sea salt striped tops and Alexa trousers are what I wear for work every day (I'm a casual sort of GP 😅) Also have that sea salt shirt but in a skirt, I love the pattern. Wild - loved it, but after a few months I got eczema under both my arms, which isn't a great place to be itchy either!! So I need to try ordering their sensitive ones as don't want to give up with them. Continues watching....
Last part!! I am absolutely getting one of those necklaces, I always admire that one. Also thought The Chair was fantasic, love Sandra Oh. Squid game - yes! Will see if I can find Edwardian and Victorian farm. Films - Star girl (Disney), the incredible Jessica James, Herself, the trial of the Chicago 7 & words bubble up like soda pop were all ones I enjoyed. Thank you for this heartwarming video xx
Hi Jen, I don't comment too often 😅 I just wanted to say that your reading vlogs are great and I always enjoy watching your videos! And I can confirm that Emma's channel is wonderful 😊 You and her both made my 2021 better! I got a new job in 2021, so that was great as well 🤭
I will never pass up the opportunity to listen to Alexander Armstrong. He's one of those people who could read the Yellow Pages and make it sound interesting.
I find them to be fine on heavy days/nights. Never had any leak or problems. Modibodi specify on each pair how much liquid they hold, so take a look at their website.
Speaking of Hailee Steinfeld. I highly recommend Dickinson, I may or may not be obsessed with the series. And Emily Dickinson and her relationships, too, because of course :) The whole cast is amazing!
@Jen Campbell I am the mother of a teen/ tween girl who has recently come out as Lesbian. If you have recommendations for age-appropriate books or youtube channels with good representation of Lesbians or Lesbian characters I would really appreciate it. I didn’t know if contacting you through the comment section here or via some other social media would be best. Thank you in advance, and please keep up the good work!

@@Steampunkkids No worries! I should say that the stories The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night aren't always uplifting, just in case that's a priority, ha. Sea salt striped tops and Alexa trousers are what I wear for work every day (I'm a casual sort of GP 😅)
Also have that sea salt shirt but in a skirt, I love the pattern.
Have you watched the 'Taskmaster' series that Bob Mortimer was in, and won? He was then in the 'Champion of Champions' series. He is brilliant.
I didn’t know he won as I’m still watching it 😅 but I’m enjoying it, yes x
Hi Jen, I don't comment too often 😅 I just wanted to say that your reading vlogs are great and I always enjoy watching your videos! And I can confirm that Emma's channel is wonderful 😊 You and her both made my 2021 better! I got a new job in 2021, so that was great as well 🤭
Congrats on your new job :) x
@@jenvcampbell Thank you 💛
bob mortimer is the absolute best!
Indeed!
i love mads mikkelsen too, that film's been on my watch list🍌🐸
Hurray for Mads!
Watch Bob mortimer on taskmaster. He is an absolute genius and makes me laugh so much. I think you can get clips on TH-cam. 😂
I’ve seen it ☺️ x
I will never pass up the opportunity to listen to Alexander Armstrong. He's one of those people who could read the Yellow Pages and make it sound interesting.
A true gem! x
Always been interested in period underwear but I have a very heavy flow...would they work for me?
I find them to be fine on heavy days/nights. Never had any leak or problems. Modibodi specify on each pair how much liquid they hold, so take a look at their website.
@@jenvcampbell Thank you for responding and Happy Birthday ♥
Speaking of Hailee Steinfeld. I highly recommend Dickinson, I may or may not be obsessed with the series. And Emily Dickinson and her relationships, too, because of course :) The whole cast is amazing!
Ooh, thank you!
Hello! I recommend following Jessie and Claud: th-cam.com/users/JessicaKellgrenFozard She might enjoy my book 'The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night.' Also check out Kay O'Neill's graphic novels, Kissing the Witch by Emma Donoghue, Saltslow by Julia Armfield, Kirsty Logan's books, Queer Folk Tales by Kevin Walker, If You Could be Mine by Sara Farizan etc. xx
@@jenvcampbell THANK YOU!!! This is wonderful! My daughter is smiling and can’t wait! I will order your book ASAP!
I knew you;d come through for me. Thank you!
@@Steampunkkids No worries! I should say that the stories The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night aren't always uplifting, just in case that's a priority, ha. There is happy ending between two women in the final story of my book 'The Sister Who Ate Her Brothers,' too - which is for middle grade and up. Congrats to her for coming out, and love to you for being a supportive parent :) x
@@jenvcampbell Thank you so much for you suggestions and support. I bought a bunch of the books you recommended today. We can’t wait for them to arrive! If you think of any other suggestions or resources, feel free to let me know. I just can’t thank you enough!!!
Edited to add: We LOVE Jessica Kellgren Fozard’s channel. Her tutorials are such fun! Thank you for introducing her channel to us.
You are amazing! Keep being you!
Where do we find Emma please??
She’s linked in the description box x
