I happen to have exact same - want to upgrade from slow hdd to ssd and add more memory. I already read it is up to 32(16+16). What is the size limit for SSD and apparently for M.2 too (didn't know I can install it too)

Will a nvme gen4 make any difference compared with the default one m.2 ngff ? Or it will still be running at 400-500MB as the old one?

Hi no there wasn't, because its a space space for the 2.5" they usually don't provide it inside.

Yes, I'm also upgrading for the same reason
SSD is significantly faster than older HDD and additional RAM will come in handy for multiple tasks
Also SSD can decrease the boot time by 1-5 minutes

Please I opened the back of my laptop and found out that there wasnt any hard drive in it and i have been using it for about a year now and I only opened to check because I encountered the blue screen of death recently and i'm surprised cause why has my system been working without a hard drive ever since? In the support page of this notebook it shows it supports up to pc4 17000 ddr4 and it recomends to use only hp memory. Can i use any type of other memories with the same specs orits best to avoid risk, just try to search for hp memory? hp memory is very difficult to find here in brazil and i'm afraid of buying from other marks/vendors and end up with the notebook doesnt booting up.

Ja u can add DDR4 8 gb there are 2 slots for DDR4 ram means u can upgrade up to 32 gb upgrade dual channel ram either 16+16 or 8+8 or 4+4 and the maximum clock speed supported by hp elite book 840 g3 is 2133MHZ if u buy more speed then it will be waste cause it will run at max 2133 mhz

I am using M.2 SATA ssd in HP 840 G3 for now. But I don't know if it supports M.2 NVMe ssd. Would you be kind enough to let me know that. In the HWINFO it says that the motherboard supports PCIe v3.
