    Dad of the year!
    Love how you make content not geared toward trying to appeal certain audience just to get the views but making ones that you find interesting.
    You inspire all of us

    If you ever need to make larger fake feet, you can soak a silicone mold in acetone, and it will swell a fair amount. If you keep molding the new larger feet, you can quickly get to a massive Bigfoot size with all the fine details your original foot had. This was a common method used before digital scanning and 3D printing existed.

    I think this is one of your best vids in a long time. It was you filming something you wanted to do, not someone making content as a business. Those are different things to me, and it feels different when you watch. More genuine. I hope it does well in both aspects. Great job!

    I literally finished the podcast just before watching this, and your worries (while charming, and "real") are completely unfounded. This is AWESOME! What a truly delightful project and video - please keep doing more of these. Your passion and joy and "I'm going to try something I've never done before" are inspiring and entertaining, and why I look forward to these every time. There are lots of woodworking youttubers - there's nobody even close to the unique perspective you bring to the world.

  • @andy-in-indy
    @andy-in-indy ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The color worked out rather well: good job! I hope your next silicone application goes as well or better!
    The best thing to have when casting your own body parts is a helper - it reduces most of my anxiety is having someone who can pour and run and fetch if something is forgotten.
    Also, there are a lot of adhesives and tapes that stick well enough to silicone these days, but what I usually use is Permatex Adhesive Sealant (Clear RTV Silicone). You get a chemical bond to most silicone and you can get a mechanical bond to other (non-smooth) materials. I have used it to fix torn tin cure silicone molds.

    They look great!! I think the colors came out perfect and the hair works just fine. The problem solving of having him wear socks with a sole glued on is genius. Filing that one away...
    The only MINOR improvement would be to cut the shine - maybe some matte fixative or something before gluing on the hair. Really minor nit.

    if i remember correctly, in the movies, for the wide shots and any shot where the feet weren't prodomently displayed, they wore shoes that had feet over them. probably something similar to converse chucks, since they would be running in them. so you could have used women's slippers instead of the insole glued to a pair of socks.

      It came out great either way. But ya I've noticed a lot of prop people these days take the harder way with the fancier materials. I'd like to see if they could pull off something with "primitive " materials. I know watching faceoff. Some of the contestants didn't even know how to handle a cotton and latex buildup. Because they only knew about more advanced materials. Good prop and fx artist should know how to walk before they can run. Not saying this guy doesn't know. Just giving an example.
