    Lennie carved out a space in jazz that swings and so simple yet full of weird cool stuff I will never understand. Right from the horse's mouths. Thank u!

    Is there a Book with his method somewhere? I heard about it but I'm not sure it really exists.

      My book series Joy of Improv (Hal Leonard) has some of Lennie's material, and Ed Palentonio in North Carolina (I think) has a book also that has alot of Lennie's stuff..

      @@DaveFrank Thanks. I've found your books. I'm going to buy them on Amazon. What about the Ed Paolantonio's one? I couldn't find anything. Just found the book's name which is "My yeas with Lennie Tristano". Do you have any ideas or a way to contact him personally?

      I studied with him for three years and many of his lessons, and Connie Crothers' as well, who I studied with for ten more years - and she was true to his method - are contained in a correspondence with another of my mentors, Richard Piro. I'm hoping to edit and publish those letters - a huge job - but sharing those lessons, from all of them - will hopefully be significant and helpful to folks who want to study and teach this music. He certainly had his own style of teaching, and of course we didn't use paper at all~

    May i ask...What are the playing similarities and playing differences between Lennie Tristano and Bud Powell? Had they been friends?

    • @DaveFrank
      @DaveFrank 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bud was Lennie's favorite pianist. Lennie's incredible lines and intensity were definately influenced by Bud.

      I don't really know if they were friends, but they did know each other.

      @@DaveFrankThank you much, Mr. Dave!!! I have not seen TV in decades yet i've passed by shows like 'Simpsons', 'Family Guy', etc. were on. Does it bother you a bit when they portray 'Bebop' as like a 'generic old music' identification? Truthfully, those things have annoyed me but likely it is petty on my part.

      @@jefffeinstein1 it doesn't bother me, I love when Homer (I managed to duplicate his physique) says "ah, you jazz guys ARE JUST MAKING THINGS UP"

    Thanks!!!!! We need more Lenny Tristano he was unique, kind of gets lost in the discussion when talking about "jazz" "the music" not even some so-called jazz musicians know about him.
