    Great video. Test rode a R18-B today and your videos have been a great help. Deals on 2022s were incredible.

    Thanks for making this video. I own an R18 First Edition, but have jut picked up an R18 Transcontinental for review and was trying to work out how to get navigation to work. All sorted now. Thanks.

    Wow! I love it. How does it feel to drive with that engine?
    How does that system sound? Is it a lot better than they used to be?
    I think this is going to be my next BMW one day, I hope.

      It's a very unique and special ride. My GS with aftermarket exhaust is actually louder but this is obviously a different sound. it's deeper, richer, more aggressive sound versus my GS "bag of nails" exhaust sound. The motor is clanky and noisy. You can hear the push rods and all of the parts moving around. The entire bike moves when you twist the throttle. Even if you're doing 40 MPH, if you pull the clutch and twist the throttle, the bike will pull to the left. It's kind of cool. Sound is very good. Very clear at the highest volume which is VERY loud. at 80 MPH with a helmet, you can hear the sound system.

    What was tilt on settings? I have a 2023 R18B and it's like a computer overload. Love this bike I was riding a Harley ultra classic before I bought this bike, I don't miss the Harley at all.

    • @AdamChandler86

      That’s the alarm trigger. If someone tilts the bike, the alarm will go off.

      I don’t miss my Harley either, but my Transcontinental make me miss my Harleys Nav/entertainment system!

    The navigation system blows! I would have happily paid $500 dollars more to have Apple Car play installed on my Transcontinental. BMW, stick to what you do best, the navigation system isn’t it! I have to sit around while my buddies on their Harleys fire right up, when they start their bike. While I sit around for a couple of minutes waiting for my navigation system and radio to be operational.

      Yep, it's pretty garbage. I've stopped using it which is a shame.

      For this video, this is the Stock BMW OEM Windscreen. The Transcontinental is taller screened so you'l have to get the part from a BMW Dealer. It is manufactured by National Cycle.

    How do you connect all that if your phones too big for the docking station?

    • @AdamChandler86

      The iPhone Pro Max phones fit without a case.

  • @duosable
    @duosable 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can you connect your phone to the speakers wirelessly using bluetooth without plugging it in the phone holder? I am planning to get the bagger and only use google map from my phone as navigation.

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the phone holder + USB connection is only required for displaying the 3D Map on the screen. You can just keep the phone mounted to the handlebars or in your pocket and pick BMW on your phone's bluetooth and in the bike's media settings choose "output - speakers" instead of helmet and it will play your music through there.

    • @RetNavyChiefBTC
      @RetNavyChiefBTC ปีที่แล้ว

      You can, but as with everything in the navigation/entertainment system it’s a hassle with way too many step!

      Glad I could help. I wish it wasn't $30 for a USB cable but I admit I tried a few 90 degree USB cables from Amazon first and none of them were the correct length or fit properly.

      Don’t try to have a case on an Apple max phone, otherwise it won’t be fitting in the cradle. I just gave up and bought a handlebar mount for my phone.

      @AdamChandler86  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi SuperBreaker, it's been tough. I've given up on the phone integration for now and just bought an iPhone mount. BMW's software is too buggy.

      @Adam Chandler my TFT firmware update is _30, I believe there is a new update already, I'm wondering if that update will make things better, or do you have the latest one, and is still not very good?

      A very heavy RT. I think I heard the engine is 380 pounds :P Full curb weight is around 870.

    Nice bike, what I was blown away by though was that these bikes only have 96 hp. I thought it be in 1800 it would far exceed the 1200. Do you know why this is Adam?

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ethan, it's sort of cruisers in a nutshell. They give you a lot of torque very down low..I think peak torque is at 1500-1800 RPM so you get full torque up to around 5,000 but they aren't designed to go very fast (top speed). Everything is geared for moving 900 pounds off the line briskly and with a lot of fun then sort of hanging out at 65-85 MPH all day with no vibrations and a pretty tame throttle. CCs aren't linear but I'm also not an engineer. This blog post was a good read - adventurebiketroop.com/why-are-cruisers-so-slow-and-under-powered/

    • @Jeff034

      It’s way MORE than enough! Acceleration is NOT horsepower - it’s RPM x Torque and this has bags of Torque. Goes like stink in legal speed rage and a bit more. If you want anything else, this is the wrong bike for you.

    So the bass is pounding you from behind?

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My wife took a short ride on it yesterday and she said it's the weirdest thing riding pillion. Bass is shaking the rear seat & fender when at 75% volume. The Transcontinental has 4 more speakers in the top case and I believe a stronger woofer. I can't imagine how that feels.

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anyone contemplating one of these bikes should go with their partner and hop on one two-up to make sure the sound system isn't a deal breaker. We use comms + bluetooth audio so it's not an issue that and the wife has her own bike. She never rides on the back.
