This is just a cheeky re upload on the 2021 BMW R1250 RT LE TFT dash and navigation.
This was when we first saw the screen lit up at Williams Motorcycles in Manchester, upon delivery of our first NEW R1250 RT LE.
Now for the keen eyed amongst you... you will realise that I have already posted this video once for a very, very brief time... didn't realise I had breached an international embargo so down the video came!
I will use the questions asked in the comments section to create a more indepth video once I've swotted up on it a bit more 🤓

Yes, navigation is very nice, if, if you do nit have an Apple iPhone connected to the BMW Connected App. This connection get problems after 30-100km, You habe to stop bike, grap phone out of the box, start map again. BMW tells you and me that its an Apple problem in bluetooth and they work with Apple to resolbe it somewhere in the future. This is the bad side if connecticity, you have problems from foreign components you can not controll. If they do not solve this in the next 3 weeks in need an Android pnone only for navigation.

I suppose in a congested city, all that navigation would be very helpful (especially the gas station locator). But 75% of great riding, is finding all new ways to get lost!
Hi Kate. Nice review. I like your videos b/c you tend to focus on the salient points. However, Your intro music is so loud and abrupt that I fell off the chair when I started watching this review. Then the sound level during your commentary was so low that I had to turn the volume way up. And, of course, the sign-off music came on so loud that I fell off the chair again. Please do something about sound levels in your videos. But keep them coming - they are all good :-)

My mate turned up at mine last Saturday on a brand new one of these. The dash is a great feature of this bike. Cant remember if youve ridden one but the a.c.c seems to be very good. Do you think its a worth while addition to bikes??

Nice once over on the new TFT screen. Thanks! How did you get the fuel bar meter to display in the large map mode? I have yet to figure that out.
Just press up on the menu button until it shows it at the top 👍
Tried getting my phone to connect to my R75/5, 2 hours later I realised it wasn't happening. Back to depending on the reserve fuel taps and those big paper things called maps.
Sounds like user error blaming the tools.
I feel like an RT may be in my future. 🤔

I'm currently riding a Triumph Tiger 1200 but the RT1250 is on a short list of one as it's replacement next year.

I was going to get the 2022 R1250gs. I will wait for this screen. Likely on the 2023 R1300GS. I made the mistake of buying a new SUV, that had a poor information screen execution. The next model year had a substantial upgrade, and it bugs me.

Wow! What a display. Is it theft proof, Kate? I’ve heard stories that earlier BMW TFT displays are very easy to steal. I don’t know if that’s true.

Hi Kate, I just tested the BMW connected APP on new 1250RT. I have problems that the map apear and after 5 sec disapear and so on. I use a Huawei P30 pro with android. What firmware is on the bike? maybe it is not actual.thx for reply
This bike was shortlisted along with the R18. Suffice to say the heart ruled the head!🤤 No regrets. But I have to say that TFT would’ve kept me amused for days!🤩😂👍🏼🇦🇺
Dash looks really good but I don’t like the front end I think the old bike looks better. I ride a 20 plate RT they are a brilliant 2 up touring bike 👍
Apart from the "oopsy" vlog (which I saw before you had to take it down! lol) why no full review? I loved Chops' review and I would love your input too if you could grab a ride from work. Really looking forward to your upcoming Cornwall adventure as well.

@@UsernameKate Well lets hope it's a short list then!! From every other review it ticks every box on features and ride outside of a GW. Looks truly awesome in your favourite triple black but just wish the front end wasn't so big and bulbous.
I find it remarkable that there is no Apple CarPlay or android auto option

How securely is the TFT unit fitted? They are being ripped off R1200/R1250 GS's.
With all this stuff on the screen when does one look at the road?
For those moving over from the Nav GPS and who use .gpx route files I gather these can be exported from say BaseCamp to your phone and BMW Connected App.
Could you check however whether POIs can be similarly exported from BaseCamp to the phone and then made visible on the TFT.
No point, POIs are included in bmw connected app
Will it fit on my 1200 GS ?
I hope it does not get a short circuit with all those electronics!

Hi Kate, Great clip but I have the new RT with TFT I think you should show how to connect phone to bike Wifi as your video shows it already connected, the connectivity is not good at the moment whereby the connect keeps dropping so there is no way of connecting the bike again without stopping, lets hope BMW can overcome this with software updates.

The Nav on the BMW app sucks so bad. It never takes me to the correct address.

Have BMW made it hard to steal? as with the old TFT you can just pull out with no tools and be stolen so easy

Poor people who bought Navigator 5 or 6's.
Remember this only works when you have good phone reception. GPS uses satellites and works everywhere. Nav is still an option.
@@mtscott wrong, only gps signal is needed, maps are pre loaded
Hi Kate. How do you get the audible instructions. My sena intercom is connected to the bike, I can use the phone but I can't get the satnav to give me instruction. I've got all the boxes ticked.

Why not CarPlay？
So, in a nutshell, you have to use your phone and your DATA Plan for GPS Navigation. This could get very expensive in over-charges to your Cell Phone Account! Especially on a long trip. That sucks! So, for those that don't want or wish to own a Cell Phone, this bike would have to be passed if you want GPS Navigation...and for a premium MSRP price. Why?
On the connected app you download the maps to your phone, once they are there that's it, no data charges as it's basically mirroring your phone. I don't know anyone who's not got a smartphone in this day and age...

You’re getting GSM and GPS confused, phone signal is not needed to operate just Satellite
bike does not have gps- it uses our phone location services... disappointment its same shit as carplay on cars- newer use that shit...@@454bard

A to B navigation is fine but kinda useless on a bike for most people i think. Can it handle premade routes with GPX format like the Garmin devices can?

@@WatermarquePaul Does this handle more waypoints than the Nav VI, which is 29 plus the final destination?
@@n228sk yes there doesn’t seem to be a limit other than your phone’s memory. Personally I use Favourites to set waypoints, you can then navigate to them or via them using the bike wizwheel.
nop. a to b navigation is useless withouth speed cameras alert! thats what most important on bikes!

Yuck. Sorry I don’t like the tft. I’m afraid I like gauges. I also think it look a bit odd just stuck at the front of the bike. It’s almost like BMW had a warehouse load of tft screens from the car department and didn’t know what to do with them. It’s a game changer for me and I’m sad to say would stop me buying a new rt. I have a 2018 r1200rt le that I bought new two weeks before the release of the new 1250 and would have probably upgraded if BMW had stuck to gauges but this is not a look I like. Sorry if I rained on anyone’s parade there. 😷

absolutely the wrong way BMW... PLEASE take us back to analog gauges .. just a simple speedo, rev counter and a few warning lights will do
I'm on the way to my local book-shop to buy a paper map.. this is by far the worst case of : not any technical advance is progress... hate it!
To much tech for an old man lol does it tell you about potholes on the 10 inch screen you just can't on bikes now and ride lol
Two things:
1: That intro was way too loud, scared the crap outa me.
