    Coming from someone this book was marketed towards, this book gave me a lot of insight towards confidence and anxiety. As someone that suffers from imposter syndrome this book also relieved some of that stress. I would recommend this book to anyone honestly it has been on of my favorite reads

    I think this may be a perfect book for Star Wars fans that deal with personal issues such as self-confidence and self-esteem. That it is Obi-Wan makes it even better and adds to his already richly defined character-path.

    Another thing of note with this book, it's absolutely hilarious. There's quite a few jokes I heard while listening to the audiobook that legitimately made me laugh out loud.

    Do you think that Padawan, Master and Apprentice and Brotherhood could form a good trilogy showing Obi-Wans journey? I haven’t read any of them yet but I am thinking of reading them in this order
    Also, I don’t think you should move away from commenting on real world issues. So much of Star Wars is about learning lessons that help us in our own lives, I think you would be missing a huge part of Star Wars if you only spoke about the in-universe stories.

    • @The_Geekdome
      @The_Geekdome 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Those three novels definitely make for a good trilogy, especially considering his apprenticeship with Qui-Gon and then becoming a master himself for Anakin. I ended up reading them backwards in timeline order, but reading them all together is definitely worth it

    Your passion and continued willingness to speak up when its necessary is the reason I've stuck around your content. I get jaded so easily when channels similar to yours will simply ignore the very real political messages and important topics that need discussing, all for the sake of "keeping to star wars". Thank you and I hope you will continue with the great content for many more years!

    Dear Alex and Molly, you two are such wonderful human beings. The moments you talk about the real world, regardless of whether or not you connect Star Wars to them, keeps me invested in this universe. You two standing up for all of our rights encourages me that this world is worth fighting for, and reminds me that I'm worth it too. This fandom isn't always welcoming, but you two are, and I so appreciate you for it. Thank you.

    1) always speak out for what’s right. I think you’ve done a good job so far, and hope you use this platform more in the future.
    2) i grew up with the jedi apprentice novellas for preteens, which i have extremely fond memories of and are also about young obi wan. Is there any chance you could cover them? Just as a sort of ‘heres the legends story of obi wan and qui gon.’ The first two books especially summarize how obi wan became qui gons apprentice, how close he was to never being trained at all, but how his patience won out over his anger and his actions convinced qui gon to take him on even after according to jedi dogma he was to be dismissed from the order.
    Also, maybe im just remembering them overly fondly, and hearing you trash them would be fascinating.

    Is there any connection between this book and the Jude Watson penned "Jedi Apprentice" legends series (also meant for young readers- but don't be fooled- there are some very, very deep and dark themes throughout the series that make it most assuredly for adults, like me, to get into)? I guess I'll find out when I read this book, but the way Watson dealt (in her mind) with the very uneasy relationship between Obi Wan and Qui Gon was fascinating and made for great reading...as was the similar evolution between Obi Wan and Anakin in her "Jedi Quest" series of young reader books.
    As for speaking out- my father always taught me to stand up for what I believe in, for at the end of the day, you have to be happy with the person you see in the mirror. Keep on keeping on.

    Nice review, I’m returning this book for the reasons you, and others mentioned about real wold problems. I’ve heard numerous people state that this is a very different take and doesn’t make sense of where my favorite character developed from(very disappointing). Specifically starting
    “this isn’t the Obi-Wan you’re looking for”.

    I've been waiting for this book to come out and looking forward to the Obi Wan comic that'll be getting released in December. I'm guessing that this story takes place sometime before the final book of the Jedi Apprentice series, yes I still believe that those books are still canon to Star Wars and they always will be. They also need to make Siri Tachi canon again, seeing that she was his first love during the early 2000's. Master and Apprentice is my favorite and I'll be reading Brotherhood soon.
