This new ST is probably how HD should have released the PA in the first place. The PA is better suited for the street than any off road scenario. It’s probably a good move for them and they will capture some die hard HD folks who are moving away from their traditional HD lines and looking to get into a sports/adventure touring bike. Unfortunately for HD there are some really good choices in this space, many having better reliability, design and price point. I left HD a few years ago to move to a lighter more upright riding position and have been super happy ever since.
Excellent move from the Motor co to do this. Other brands have similar variations on their ADV’s and now there is a HD option in the choice mix. And we like to have choice.
I agree that this is the version of the bike that they should’ve come out with first. In the several times, I’ve ridden one it’s always felt like it should be a straight focused bike. Most of the changes they’ve done are honestly perfect in my opinion. The only other thing I would change is I believe it needs lower handlebars.
Hey nice to see you kase kind of bummer not having alex with you discussing about these bikes you two had always agreed whichever when it comes to bikes and other stuff.
Thanks to YT, I've been able to catch up on drive-in biker movies. The raked out skinny front wheel chopper would be chased on dirt roads by a H-D police motorcycle with a fatty tire package.
ST Pan Am is still born. I like this bike a lot. However, typical HD buyer picked up Pan Am to go "adventure" riding. These buyers are generally not interested in "sport touring" and those HD buyers who are, just go for Low Rider ST. Or go right for a bagger. Plus the price point of $20K, it competes with likes of Yamaha Tracer GT and BMW XR line. And that's a tough sell. I really hope it succeeds as it makes much, much more sense vs Sportster S. And it will be around long enough that I can pick one up for $10K used in couple of years. 😁
The Pan America St has an average maximum duration of 4 hours and 240 statute miles with it's fuel capacity of 4.5 gallons. It's important to plan ahead when venturing out beyond 120 miles / 2 hrs being certain to have a refueling station. 😊
I don’t think this needs a Rally tank. It’s a street bike, just stop and get gas. In my mind this is a bike for the twisties not a Goldwing or Tiger Explorer competitor
Are You sure about the ONLY 36° possible lean angle ? My Yamaha FJ-09 Tracer can do 48° and the Honda Rebel 1100 has been advertised with a, for a cruiser, high possible lean angle of 35° So in theory this PanAm ST Just plays in the Honda Rebel 1100 class of cornerability and NOT in the Yamaha FJ-09/ BMW S1000 XR Crossover categorie. If this is true the 17" wheels make less sense and it won't get any marketshare from the crossoverbikes it pretends to rival.
I can’t understand why it’s the same price as the special. A lot of the weight savings came from removing accessories. That should come OFF the price. That and with the manufacturing moving overseas. The price should drop across the board. This is ridiculous.
Meh, the PA’s will be discontinued in the near future, I think because there’s too many other more affordable and more reliable options. HD has proven that they will not even honor warranty repairs on the first few years of the PA, which is one reason there’s so many used ones for sale. Im a once proud HD owner but will never return to the brand. The ADV bike rallies I attended last year, hardly anyone was at the HD booths for test rides on the PA. I test rode for the hell of it. Wasn’t impressed. I’ll keep my reliable Super Tenere with its legendary reliability that’ll do everything the PA will do for half the price.
@@7dayvisa I think the issue is the market segment is too crowded with better bikes. In a vacuum it’s not a bad bike. But against a GS? Against a Multi? Against a Tenere? It just loses its appeal unless you just have to have a V Twin or you just have to have a Harley. If they were more reliable I think they’d be a little cult hit. Let’s be honest, price is not really an issue in this segment, BMW sells a ton of pricey GS bikes.

It's a cool design for a smaller bike, I like it. And off topic, I love the little 2CV in the background.

At first I thought you said it had 49 horsepower now, I was like what!? 😂

I still go back to if they made a police version of the Pan American it would be well received and that bike would get very popular fast.
Nice offering.
Great video! Would like to hear your take on the updated softail lineup. Did they do enough updates to modernize the bikes?

@chorseundgrd Yep, it'll easily gulp down 4 gallons in an hour doing that.

A 975 Pan Am (lighter) would make more sense.
Agree with you unless your big and going higher
Love you kase
Probably the closest thing we will ever see to the Bronx from harley

Where's Alex?
He moved on they made a video.

Meh, I think you're wrong.
Not to mention the highway robbery Harley dealers charge for maintenance.
Premium bike for a premium price. It's not for everyone.

@chorseundgrd I can definitely see that
Versys 1200!
Only one problem with the Pan Am lotta issues with the last model horrible and it’s a Harley Davidson double horrible
Its still too damn heavy for what it is
HD should be in category: agriculture vehicles not motorbikes ;)
Tried one yesterday, extremely tall and awkward ergonomic s, did not like it one bit, disappointed hd fan
❤❤❤
I have a new series idea...Mary takes over for Alex and learns to ride a bike live...
