I know this is your own house obviously, but in public where you find signs like this mounted close to the floor, are just vandalism waiting to happen.

You'd be surprised. SeaWorld Orlando has tons of exit signs mounted near the floor in the waiting que for Journey to Atlantis. They've been there for about ten years and I've only seen one that was damaged. Probably some kid.
