I loved hearing your story! especially bc I finally got the courage to record my first gaming ASMR video, you’ve definitely been an inspiration so thank you (and thank you to your mom and grandma haha) 💜 but like you I didn’t get too much into console gaming until a few years ago. When I was younger I played computer games, first the Basic windows ones like the Cake shop LOL. Eventually I got into Webkinz, Bratz, and Stardoll then moved on to things like Club Penguin, Meez, and Nancy Drew games.. I had a Wii and a DS but my dad would never buy my games 😭 (thats what the consoles are for dad!). I didn’t get Sims and Minecraft until after I graduated high school! Eventually I bought a Switch, best decision I have made.. Skyrim is definitely one of my favorite games and one of the first console games I actually got into!
Lol Jubilee Plays Escape From Tarkov!! Also, I played my first PC game at 16, and i played my first controller game at 14 (it was breath of the wild). I still have less tan 3 hours on any sort of playstation/xbox.
Whether you make your child play video games or read books, they're both just ways of making your child occupy themself at the end of the day. A book isn't by nature better than a game, and I'm saying this as someone who values books very highly.
Hmm gonna have to disagree that books aren’t better than games. I would say they’re on equal footing. There are lot of great games that have commentaries on postmodern life (gta, red dead redemption, Bioshock, etc) but there also a lot of non fictional books that have arguable stood the test of time more than games (The Glass Castle, 1984, in Cold Blood, Lord of the Flies, Invisible man, Tale of Two Cities). Varies by genre and platform

I’m curious if your parents played video games when they were younger. I’m assuming they might’ve had Atari or Nintendo at least. 🤔 My step dad would also say that video games would rot your brain. Oddly enough we did play a bit of Excitebike on the original Nintendo back in the day.
Day 18! I think Inscryption would be an incredible game to play on the channel. It's fun, it's artsy and has an enaging story, and it's super relaxing. Do though, avoid spoilers. The game doesn't have any graphic or mature themes either. I think you'd love it, especially if you're into more simple games, after all, it is a card game.
Already day 19 of asking Jub to play Inscryption. At this point can I just buy her the game? I won't give this up not many other ASMR channels have played it despite being a critically acclaimed masterpiece that was second runner up for 2021 Game of the Year (behind It Takes Two)

Games are a fantastic outlet for my adhd and really help get me into a deep concentration, it's quite nice.
