You remind me of an old mate of mine, who had a Accadiane. We used to pile 10 guy's in the thing and of we went to go see bands! Way back in the nineties.

A friend of mine had a 2CV and he once changed the clutch in his lunch hour. Oh I remember the 70's with the Warburg Knight and the Moscovitch.

Great to see so many Amis, can’t remember the last time I saw one. Had a saloon one as my first car back in the early 90s. Not the best example tbh but fun. Wish I still had it.

You just reminded me of the Ami Super estate I once owned for a few months. Very rusty and huge fun. I fondly recall flying into roundabouts to see how much understeer it would take before running out of steering lock. I was usually bought back in line by the screaming passengers.
Another one that I should have kept. Hindsight shines it's bright light again. Oh well.. . .

Another "gray" ? here (I prefer "silver") recalling similar fun with a white Ami Super Estate on the cusp of the '80s and it could really speed and thrill -- because these cars needed proper driving. We cured understeer when replacing the front bearings and rolling could be reduced by changing rubber limiters -- but not so much as to spoil the fun.
It was a great car in the wind and rain on exposed E.Anglian roads when other cars had difficulty despite having narrow wheels but as these had ingenious 'tilt' there was far better grip than the boring GS and was much quieter too with the push-pull gearbox straight into the 1000+cc engine.
Apart from a bit of rust its only fault was the blast from the air ducts. Particles and pollen could be kept out by using old tights!

Great video, great range there. Seeing the Charlseton I was reminded of a comment I heard some years back after visiting a scrapyard, they had a written off 2cv Charlseton in, the yard owner commenting that it would never dance again !

Now this is what I _really_ come here for! Lovely Ami 6s, 8s and Supers :-D If I could give this 10,000 likes I would! The Dyane was launched _not_ to replace the 2CV, but to compete with the Renault R4 (which was produced for more than 30 years, during which Renault manufactured more than 8 million units!)

The last time i was in a citroen was in a citroen cx in about 1978 when i was 8.
i was with my brothers riding in a mini van and we hit a sheep in snake pass derbyshire and it damaged the radiator and left us stranded and it was getting very dark.
Along came the citroen cx and saved us all.
I could not believe the ride it was like riding on a magic carpet and was very comfortable.
The car seemed massive to us all.
With their kids and us there were 7 in all in the car and took us back to our brand new bungalow in bramley in south yorkshire where we lived at the time.
My bro who is 5 years older and remembers more said he was a doctor and owned a rolls royce as well and wonder if they are still around.
They were a very nice family indeed.
The kids were about same age as me and wonder where there are now and if they remember that event back in around 1978.
My eldest bro who was driving the mini van was 20 at the time and might remember more i will have to ask him.
    Good video ian.

I knew 2 Ami 6 owners and had a lift from Manchester to Harrow in one once. Three big blokes plus luggage fitted easily but struggled with motorway speeds. Had to refresh alternator brushes on the same car - good access meant it took about 15 mins.

Ever since subscribing to this channel, i have found that my favorite Citroen has been the Ami! Not sure what the differences are between the Ami 8 and Ami 6 but i do know that i love the styling. The 2CV's and Dyanne's are nice but the Ami has a look about it that just says 1960's 1970's French car. I love them. And to see them all lined up in one row at this event was just thrilling. I have to admit the DS convertible was an eye turner and absolute gorgeous too. I'm excited to hear that Hubnut will be featuring more Citroen cars on this channel. I love Jaguars but Citroens/Peugeots are really my favorite of the lot. Great video content.

The main style difference between the Ami 6 and the Ami 8 sedan is the Ami 6 has a Z-shape rear (more accentuated than a Ford Anglia). And the Ami 8 had bigger engines.

It's funny how back in those days they made cheap, small cars look classy.
These days they just make them look cheap.
That blueish greenish shade on the Ami is gorgeous.
Oh I like getting close to Elly. She's pretty in my book.
    Black works on a 2cv.
I love the Visa and the perfectly patina'd break.
A Visa would suit you, Ian. One to buy before they go up too far.
BX Break. Much love. And Dyanes are my favourite "2cv". I never drove one though, so I may change my mind then.
    28 seconds. Quick. Blazing.
I wonder if the DS projects a French-Duck-Shaped-Shadow on a right hand turn.

My first car was a white Ami 8 Saloon, K Reg, bought for £300. I used to get five mates inside, two next to me in the front, and three in the back. The low gearing meant that even the 602cc engine was able to keep up with traffic in down driving. Wish I could afford one now!

"More Citroen content".... fine by me. I'm going to the Citroen Conservatoire in Paris this summer :) The RAF Museum reminded me of last year's Paris visit, to Le Bourget. I remember those Décapotable conversions well - all part of the 'Yuppie Boom' of the 80s when such things shot up in price and the real thing rapidly became unaffordable.

Lovely old Citroens. Back in 1988, I had a job working in a scrap yard. Rubbish job, but interesting cars. Back in the days when they were stacked on top of one another. No health and safety back then! In the yard was a CX, a 2cv, (both very rusty) and also an Ami in quite good condition. I loved that you could just unclip the bench seat and take it out to sit on wherever you went. Very cool feature! I fell in love with a really nice Peugeot 504 estate that arrived there one day. Wanted to save it, but sadly, they plonked another car on top of it and that was that. 😞

Rhian Taylor I had a super X that I bought for 20 quid, put it through an MOT and ran it until the clutch destroyed itself. it was so nippy. I was driving it one day with a rep up my arse in his eurobox and we went down a slip road to get on a dual carriageway, he arrogantly went straight into the outside lane and I hooked my foot under the clutch pedal to stop it slipping , floored it and half a mile later when the road went back to single carriageway he was still trying to get past. 😀😎

It's Peugeot's second attempt at front wheel drive. Used in the Peugeot 104/Talbot Samba/Citroen LNA, Visa, early 205 and, oddly, the Renault 14. It was canted back at a 72 degree angle, with the gearbox underneath. Apparently looked a bit like two halves of a suitcase when not in situ.

That Ferguson Formula (FF, like the Jensen) Opel Senator was certainly an interesting car. Back in the '90s I briefly owned an Opel Commodore GS/E saloon which, officially, had belonged to the British Army of the Rhine, but judging by the original vehicle history notebooks that came with it and the specification of the vehicle, it was most likely used by the intelligence services. It certainly had some interesting adaptions... Sadly I had to pass it on as it was left-hand drive and I couldn't find anyone who would insure me on it, which was a shame, it went like an absolute train so it was definitely rather tuned, probably by Irmscher, even though it looked stock under the bonnet...

I realise you used to write for Classic Jaguar but we'd have no chance of winning with a Jag engine.😂 When I was a kid stationed in Germany during mid 60s my mum & dad picked up two desperate RAF pilots who were running late. We had VW Beetle so it was very tight, four adults, 2 kids & a toddler. As a reward I was allowed to go inside a Vulcan...they were top secret. To get to the pilots seat there were foot plates set in the instrumentation panel. We had pictures taken from the plane as we stood on the runway. I was about 7, long time ago. Favourite plane was the Lightning, flying over the crowds at RAF show in Germany. Less than 100ft as fast as it could at that altitude. Everyone hit the grass.😱

This is nostalgic pour moi - I used to own an Ami 8 Estate (R/H drive). On the way back from tuning Joan Armatrading's piano for a recording session, sadly I had a collision at Hindhead, and the insurers saw fit to write off my poor little Ami. Boo hoo! Not that JA was in any way responsible for my unfortunate accident - I thought I'd better make that clear. (She was just responsible for writing loads of great songs, but not for causing any crashes, at least not so far as I know ...). I loved the soft suspension and the body roll (I'm talking about the AMI here, NOT about JA... some people have such dirty minds...). I loved the dash-mounted gear-lever. I loved the comfy seats. I loved the sound of the two-cylinder air-cooled engine, and the clicking sound of the indicators. I loved the self-centreing steering and the one-spoke steering wheel. I loved the speedometer. I loved that the ignition key went in to a near-vertical mounting on the steering column. I loved the handbrake which pulled out from the dashboard. I loved its' sheer quirkiness, and yet, strangely, it was somehow functional and practical. I'm getting odd desires to go and live in France and listen to Charles Trenet, Serge Gainsbourg and Plastic Bertrand. I seem to remember that the Ami was somewhat slow and didn't have a powerful heater - but then, nostalgia isn't what it used to be... Strangely, the Ami was known as the Dynam in Spain - rather then the Amigo - answers on a postcard if anyone knows why that might be? If I won the lottery I could be tempted by an Ami Super Estate - or a Steinway (Model B) perhaps - hmmm - maybe both? Definitely both :-)

What a fine line up! A GS and a CX would have completed things off nicely.

Bostin! - As usual! You have 2CVs, Dyanes, Amis (All Varieties), a Visa, and even a Faux 'Drop Coq-Tete' DS, but whatever happened to the wonderful GS? - Did they all rust away? I used to love those cars. Back in 1976, I used to drive from West Bromwich to Stoke-on-Trent every week, using my Boss's GS. It was very different to my (very many) Student Bedford HA Vans!

Flaminio Bertoni's most favourite design was the Ami6. He planned a DS19 sized version. When I order a sticker and other bits I will email a photo of his sketch plus I am working on a little TWK stain glass panel for you but need to sort that out.

It's just total joy watching the vids without much blaring you relaxed nature and quirky taste in cars. I am still stunned at the Inivcar truly addictive viewing. 60mph is insane. So I take it the gearing is obviously taller? Will that effect hill climbing?

    • @edgarbeat275
      @edgarbeat275 5 ปีที่แล้ว

A wee painted, enammeled fired stain glass panel a garage scean with past issues. It's going to be funny. Put simply if I am drawing an invicar that means I want one hahahahha. If I start sculpting a invicar out of potatoes close encounter stylee lol

    • @HubNut
      @HubNut  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Taller gearing has, if anyhing, blunted the top end. 60mph possible, but she hasn't got the power to pull much more.

First car I ever crashed, at the age of 4. I let off my mum's hand brake outside the school when she went to fetch my brother. It slowly rolled into a rusty Vauxhall Victor. The owner of the Victor claimed his car was written off. My dad settled the dispute buying him a new number plate.

Great video. I knew you would find the senator and the other vehicles and planes on display in the museum fascinating. Did you spot the Land Rover hiding in the back of the transporter plane? as there is one in a crate ready for parachuting from a plane.

    • @HubNut
      @HubNut  5 ปีที่แล้ว

No, missed that. I spent all of about five minutes exploring the museum! The rest of the time chatting with friends...

@@HubNut yeah its hidden in the back of one of the planes. In one of the other hangers there is a original Mercedes Gwagen that had a good background story from the first Iraq war.

Isn't the Ami 8 with the registration TJA 410R appear in an old episode of Top Gear where James May was driving it, or did I imagine that?

    • @HubNut

James May still apparently owns one that is the same colour, but his is an estate.

Love the 2CV, Ami and DS, such a lovely change from the visual aggression of most modern cars :) Lovely contrast between the immaculate 2CVs and dirty cars , both looks have huge appeal. Love your friend Colins car, Seats look comfortable do you know what car they're from?
