Car brings back a lot of memories. My mom had a 1976 Chrysler New Yorker Brogham when I was a kid. It was black with black vinyl roof burgundy velour seats red pinstripe loved that car. Everyone would have to look twice when they see her getting out of it because she was only 4'11 for a big car lol it was her baby & she drove it better a man would lol. It had power seat so she was able to get it up to the dashboard and up as high as it could go lol. Love to own 1 one day
Damn how I miss the 70s! God I Loved driving those big cars with the big flat seats! Had my lady sitting right next to me, one hand on the wheel and my right arm around her!!!! Just driving up and down Franklin Street and onto 94 to Chicago...
Very impressive condition! Fantastic color combo as well! Have always liked these last of the big Chrysler's. After 78 nothing was quite the same. Would love to own this car!
I had one of these, a 1976. Same exterior color but with dark blue leather rather than velour. Big 440 with a gargantuan Quadra Jet carb and put out only 180 or so horsepower. That didnt stop it from getting 7 MPG in town or a fuel sipping 10 *maybe* on the freeway. Wat a tank. I love it. Oh, and I had some jazzy Chrysler aluminum rims, not hubcaps.
It should've had a Carter Thermoquad carburetor, unless someone robbed a Rochester Quadrajet off of some GM product. Chrysler did use a few Quadrajets, but not until the 80's. I think those smog 440 were rated at 210 HP :(
Would have loved to see that Touch-Tune radio in action. Haven't seen one used since the 78 New Yorker demo my dad had back in 78 when he sold these new.
Wow! Very quiet and smooth inside. Too bad that was the worst of times for domestic cars with sky rocketing gas prices and quality suffered with emissions control.
So tired of that phrase "Malaise Era" Nobody bought these cars to race. Each car had their own individuality and beauty, and character, something that seriously lacks in today's world where you can park a Kia next to a BMW and not be able to differentiate between them from afar. This is a beautiful automobile you have.
I've had it with that phrase myself. And, if anything, I've long since preferred these land yachts over any of the Toyotas, Nissans and Mazdas of the world!!😊
A GREAT FRIEND of mine sold me a '77 New Yorker Brougham (440, all OPTIONS, sorta beaten) for$300 in 1987! I LOVED THIS AWESOME RIDE! "wife" TOTALED it in '89! GREAT CAR...BAD "wife"!
...And we had to let ourselves get coaxed into exchanging something like this for some undersized sardine can from overseas, claiming that it was the in thing!!
This car was in a class of her own! And with a meticulous mechanic you would get 10 mpg in the city and 18 mpg highway, however if you were sloppy with maintenance you wouldn't get the gas mileage she could get.........😂 I had 77 continental 460 big block she got 15 highway 11mpg city Had a 73 buick Electra 455 big block similar mpg..........however had a chevy caprice small block 400 15mpg.....😂 .......all of which were meticulously tuned 🤔 Thats why i changed to Ford because no other car manufacturers can compete with Fords fuel mileage 25 mpg highway on there small blocks...... Suv that can achieve 19mpg EAT YOUR HEART OUT GARBAGE MOTORS
It's not so much a lean burn engine as it is a lean burn carburetor. This seems to be working okay, but it's really not that big of a deal to replace it. All you got to do is pop in a Holley Street Demon or something like that.
@@somewhereinthecity Actually the Lean Burn system was more about ignition timing. To eliminate it, yes a better carburetor is preferred, but a normal Chrysler electronic ignition system from a 72-76 should be used. Or a 71-down points type distributor.
VERY easy solution. Convert it back to the previous 72-up Chrysler Electronic Ignition, and either richen up that Thermoquad, or find a conservative aftermarket spreadbore carburetor. Even a Rochester Quadrajet from a GM product would be an improvement.
We took these beauties for granted in the 70's, they were everywhere

Beautiful vintage luxury car from the late 70’s.
What a luxurious interior.
So plush and inviting.
I hope it goes to an owner who fully appreciates the car! It looks great
Beautiful! Runs good, too. They don't make 'em like they use to.
The best interior of the 1970s cars.
We were a Mopar family and my dad had a couple of New Yorker Broughams. I hadn’t noticed before how enormous the rear window was on these!
Which did you prefer most of all in the 1970s? Oldsmobile, Lincoln, Chrysler, Buick, or Cadillac
My 75' Imperial LeBaron hard top has the smaller rear window. The N.Y.ers are huge
Would have loved to see that Touch-Tune radio in action. Haven't seen one used since the 78 New Yorker demo my dad had back in 78 when he sold these new.
With the foot button by the high beam switch, right?
Very nice.... basically same as an Imperial...
Which is better this one or the imperial
I had that exact car, and in that color! It had a factory CB radio, and a really long antenna that retracted. I loved that car.
Yep - a Lincoln Continental Town Car after 1978 (for 1979 only) was the only option in my opinion. This Chrysler is a beautiful example. Cheers.
Ford must've had a bunch of parts left over and had to use them up by producing that 1 last big car in 79.
@@johneckert1365 Hey John, Yes Sir - and even after that, imagine HOW MANY parts were still left over. From past years as well...
I had a 77 New Yorker. It was beige with tan leather seats.
I noticed the digital radio, I didn't know that it came with digital radios for that year!
Cadillac and Lincoln also came out with digital tuning that year coincidentally.
Beautiful car damn!!
Absolutely GORGEOUS...
THICK Big block hardtop,
factory upholstered like
a wh*****house on wheels?
IM IN !

Must be in a northern city. I saw basements. Fine luxury car was a New Yorker. Like the blue color.

MARAVILLOSO
Good stuff
You need to stop and show that beautiful car
Did you ever sell it I love the interior!
Thank-you
..saw one of these at the demo derby in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin....
Chrysler C-bodies are great derby cars if they aren't rusty! I've smashed up some pretty nice ones years ago that I wish I could have back. 😢
Nice!
I'll buy it
Love to Purchase this car
...And we had to let ourselves get coaxed into exchanging something like this for some undersized sardine can from overseas, claiming that it was the in thing!!
Did you have any problems with the lean burn or wipers?
😮
How much! Me like! 😋
11 mpg?
Beautiful car. Too bad Chrysler has since abandoned real style
regulations and OPEC
for sale?
Did you sell it yet?

@@jaymartell2967Do you still have your Imperial? What part of the country are you in?

Nice classic but the driver breathing hard well driving the hood is a mile long a barge compared cars today

I noticed that too
