  • My dad shot these home movie clips when we where on vacation in St. Petersburg in 1953. Enjoy these small clips taken around town, Pass-a grille Beach, the old Johns Pass Bridge and Al Lang baseball stadium.

I have been living here in St. Pete since 1961. And I now live in the same house I grew up in since 1964. I currently am here taking care of my 94 year old mom. I graduated from St. Pete High in '72. St. Pete will always be my home. I really miss Webbs City.

Grew up in Old NE St.Pete from 62 to 70. Great memories of the best Halloween's, bike rides, kick ball in the alley, ice cream trucks, lemonade stands, tree swings, trading fruit with the neighbors or maybe just helping ourselves, lol. Sunken Gardens, and on and on...!!! Thanks for the video!!!

Knew this place well. The pier of the 50’s , 60’s and part of 70’s

Yep. My grandpa would take me fishing there and to Al Lang field for the Cardinals baseball games.

And to see the old hotel on Pass a Grill beach before it burned down. It's where the concession stand now sits across from the Hurricane Restaurant . I'm the little kid in the movie looking at the seagull and pelican on the Pier. Mom must of been filming, that's my dad feeding the pelican with his camera bag hanging on his shoulder

My parents honeymooned there in April 1953. For some reason (probably my publicity hound mom) the paper did a spread on them. Pass-a-grille, Johns Pass. I still have it somewhere.

Al Lang Field was the spring training home for the St.Louis Cardinals. A short walk away was also the St.Petersburg version of the Fountain of Youth. (Sulphur Water). Old timers used to fill glass jugs of the water. What exists now near the old spot is sourced by city water supply.

So many landmarks I remember as a kid! Back then, the Sunshine Skyway hadn't yet been built, and you had to take the Beeline Car Ferry from Pinellas Point across the bay to Bradenton. And good old Webb's City! Lotsa memories there!

It was being built at the time, it just wasn't finished. No more ferry to St. Pete!

Grew up, born and raised here. Mama would take us to Webb City all the time. I loved the Talking Mermaid Show. Everything about Webb City was the best. Oh, those were most definitely the good old days. Love the background music you added to your great video. Perfect! Thanks for the memories.

Dad was using a old Revere camera the you had to wind up. There was only 50' of film on the reel. That's why he was moving the camera fast, to get as much as possible before it ran out. Who knows what it cost to have it developed back then. I'm the small kid with no shirt near the pelican and da dwas in the pic with the camera bag on his shoulder when mom ran the camera. We moved to St Pete in 1960 and been here ever since.
