Ehmm... *Kaffee & Kuchen* (Cake & Coffee time) is the exact same as the UK people have with *"Tea Time", but Sundays at 15/16 o'clock.* We just "eat" cake AND drink *coffee* at *this time.*
      > Only *North Germany* trinks *tea* instead *AND* North German people, are actual *World Recordholder* in *"most trinking tea".*
      > Since England, means *"Land of the *Angles,* and those came from *North Germany,* as well as *the Saxons,* which came from todays german Federal-State *"Lower "Saxony",* in Germany, WHICH founded *before moving over,* the very *1st german* language point in the *germanic language* tree.
*Old low German* IS *Old Saxon* language.
*England* original name was *Engaland* > Ӕngland > Ӕngaland
Ӕ this old letter is still in German language in the form as: *Ä*
      > To this day, *Ä (Ӕ)* is allowed to be written out as *Ae* or *ae,* instead *Ӕ* or *ӕ.*
So England's A or Ӕ upfront *should be* *Angland* or *Ӕngland* or *Ängland* which relates to the German tribe(s) that formed England by founding several kingdoms and made *their* language, *Old Low German,* the national one.
      > English as laguage was *before* the *church manipulations* considered a *"Old Low German DIALECT FORM".*
*Old* English had *as well 3 to 4 Articles* like German does with *"der/die/das"* in the same fashion.
*Old* English had NO "-y" or "-ry" endings but like German *"-ing"* and *"-ig"* or *"-rig"*
      > The church
*Hungry* is a lit. fake word created by *the church*
      *Old English*
      > Hungry was *Hungrig* > -rig ending nothing with y.
      > Thirsty was *durstig* > -ig ending nothing with y.
      ...
durstig is actually directly a German word for "today's" English word thirsty.
Ah and yes, ... *Deer,* such a simple word, ...right?!
      > Means only *1 specific* creature right?
      *No*
*Deer* not only sounds similar to German *Tier,* they are actually the same.
*Deer* means in *Old English* all *creatures,* not 1 specific.
      > "small deer" = *"small creature(s)"* same as german *Tier* does.
      Also in writing:
      Old English: *Dior*
      Old (low) German: *Tior*
*The church* reduced it's meaning DOWN, to make room to bring in *their* word, from *their* (dead) language in, *Latin.*
      > Animal, does NOT belong into english or any germanic based language. Since it also *suddenly* happend, it was *no natural* shift towards it.
_The church,_ manipulated a ton in BOTH English & German language, to make them look "separated" & lose connection to each side.
      *Endless to go on...*
      Now you know ;)

You know, Germany is surrounded by different EU countries, and like in the center, taking in from all directions influences from other cultures, which includes also Food.
      > French is bordered Germany. Both exchanged a LOT in food culture. BUT *Mustard* was one of the biggest one. While french came across germanys many breads, noone in the EU (world) can compare with.
      > *CAKE & BAKE 2024* is hosted BY GERMANY , the biggest cake/bake event in the world and was this year in *March.*
      > The biggest one in the world, like *GamesCON* is the biggest gameing event in the World, in Germay (Köln), which was just a week or so ending.

"Baumkuchen" (tree cake, so called because of the layers) is difficult to make without the right equipment. The traditional manufacturing uses a thick spit rotating over a fire or other heat source; the dough is dropped from above on the slowly rotating spit, so that the first layer is already baked when the second layer is applied and so forth.

On the cake being lighter. In germany there is the tradition of Kaffee and Kuchen (coffee and cake) which is a regular light meal at around 3 pm (Not every day, but regularly often on weekends). Since its between lunch and dinner you dont want something too heavy during that, so cakes are often more on the lighter side.

The plums used for plum cake are actually prunes, a subspecies (Prunus domestica subsp. domestica) of plums and are called ‚Zwetschgen‘ or ‚Quetschen‘. They are more elongated and the seed comes off very easily from the pulp, it nearly falls off when you open the fruit by squeezing (germ. ‚quetschen‘) it.

Most Germans don’t eat all the traditional food like “Schweinshaxe”or “Sauerbraten” that’s often mentioned in videos about German food every day. Especially the meat based more heavy varieties of the German cuisine are mostly only eaten in winter and even then mostly only on special occasions like for example Christmas.
Instead Germans actually eat a lot of seasonal food, like for example Spargel in Spring, cabbages in winter, pumpkins in autumn and Kohlrabi and lots of Mediterranean vegetables like tomatoes, zucchini etc. in summer. Especially in summer Germans love to grill everything from vegetables to sausages and fish. Apart from that Germans eat lots of salads especially in the summer but also in winter.
That’s also why we have lots of seasonal cakes. Because Germans just eat a lot of seasonal food. 😄

Zwiebelkuchen is most popular in autumn, together with Federweißer, which ist a young wine from the recent harvest. All in all you'll hardly find it in bakeries but more likely in restaurants or in the frozen pizza section in Supermarkets.
    Maybe neighboring the Flammkuchen.
And about sweetness: for people from many countries German cakes, pies and gateaus are not sweet anough. Well, maybe we just like to taste all the flavours and not just the sugar 🙃

With all this, you have to remember that in Germany there is an afternoon tradition called "coffee and cake". This is not unlike the British 5 o'clock tea, although for us coffee time is more likely between 3 and 4 o'clock. And that brings us to the special coffee cakes. That's what we call dry things, like pound cake, marble cake, lemon cake, or red wine cake. The problem with the dryness is solved by a sip of coffee every now and then with the bites.
🎶This is how we do it...🎶

      @melchiorvonsternberg844 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@icog1 No... Not generally. We just don't put whipped cream on dry, so-called pound cakes. Instead, we put a really thick chocolate or lemon glaze on this type of cake. It's brilliant when the glaze melts in your mouth because of the warm coffee. You can also mix the two. My mother used to do that with red wine cake. But surprisingly, where we almost always used cream were cakes that had something to do with fruit, such as strawberry fruit cake, or plum cake (which is already very moist in itself) with lumps. That rounds off the taste...

There is a diffrence between " cake" ( Kuchen) = drier, often flat or pie-like cake similar to apple crumble and " gateau "
( Torte) which is often layered and contains more creamy or fruity and chocolaty stuff like the Schwarzwälder KirschTORTE.

Homemade is actually always better. My aunt once had a conversation with the local confectioner because his cheesecake looked better but hers tasted better. He then asked her how she baked the cake and after she answered, he said: "If I baked the cake with these ingredients, no one would buy it because it would be too expensive." Therefore, the best cakes are homemade, not with ready-made baking mixes but in the classic way from a recipe book.

    But please, with cream!
They meet up daily at a quarter past three
Round their usual table in the corner of the patisserie
And sound the charge on the cake buffet
On Black Forest Cherry and cream meringues
On ice-creams: pineapple, cherry and banana - but please, with cream!
They gossip and champ, then fetch themselves more -
    Butter-cream gateaux and bee-sting cakes.
They gasp and splutter, hardly any more goes in
At most a chocolate marshmallow, for it must be done right
With Mathilde, Ottilie, Marie and Liliane
    But please, with cream!
And probably everyone's guessed how this song ends
Death in turn creamed them off right there
The survivors could find almost no words for their pain
With Sacher and Linder and marzipan cakes
Liliane was the last to hold true to her pledge
    But please, with cream!
But in the end it was all up with Liliane too
She toppled from her chair in the patisserie
On her coffin instead of wreaths there were sugared gateaux
And the priest buried her with moving words
That the Lord God would blaze her a pathway to Heaven
    But please, with cream!
One more little cup of tea
    But please, with cream!
    One more little meringue
    But please, with cream!
Or perhaps, it should rather be a cookie...

I wouldn't bet money on that in Germany! Any German master baker will make you any cake you want without any problem. This is due to the very extensive training in Germany. In order to be a master of the trade, it was always necessary to complete the 3-year apprenticeship to become a journeyman. Then work in the profession for at least 2 years before you can attend master school, which also takes another 2 years. This means that you will have been in the profession for 7 years with the training when you acquire your master title, with a detailed examination that then entitles you to train others in the profession...
