This is a very good option for city short ride. I ordered version 5.0 with only 65$! Works very well with quad-lock wireless charging! Well done Cruiseman!!!!
I did the same with my 2021 Harley Davidson Ultra Limited. I bought a Apple CarPlay jumper and a Wireless CarPlay adapter. Now I have wireless Apple CarPlay on my bike !!! Best regards from Brazil 🇧🇷
It’s a shame we pay all this money for our bikes and we have to buy an adapter for apple CarPlay and Honda can’t get it right. Thanks for doing this video, looks like what I will be getting next.
@@BugleBoogie yes you are right, but depends on the weather. If using the bike in hot days, leaving iPhone in the glovebox will make it overheat real quick, the everything stops (Carplay, iPhone, navigation, music... etc.)
Nice setup; I purchased and just installed the Carlinkit Apple Car Play dongle. I followed your setup procedure, and all worked seamlessly! Sure going to have peace of mind having secured the iPhone out of the weather. I mounted my iPhone on the handlebar with a RAM mount). The Florida heat really slowed the phone down and dimmed the screen whether on the ram mount or in the center pocket. Money well spent. Hopefully, it will be trouble-free for years. Thanks for the video Cruiseman!
Thanks for this, I bought one of these but returned it as I couldn’t see if it was working or work out how to work it as the instructions were very poor, I will have another go now
Thank you for making this video (and all the others) I have a 2018 and the carlinkit 5.0 works perfectly. Without this video I would have never known about the product.
I "think" the Gold WIng's USB circuit in the cubby is live always. Check that in considering how much drain this may add to the battery while bike is not in use.
Cruise, thanks for doing this video, I bought another unit made by some unknown company and it wasn’t reliable. I’ll be giving the one you just tested a try.
as long as the helmet it turned on first... it should come up. I've had it come up several minutes later however... but def, helmet on first. I need to test the text and/or call functions...
I have an unit i bought from Amazon. I don’t need to have my Sena on to use it. It takes a few seconds to boot up, but it always does. Love it because i don’t have to keep phone plugged up to bike on handlebars. I have the Ciro 3d wireless phone charger. I ride a lot in rain and don’t have to worry about water getting into phone.
I’ve been using the same dongle on my wing all summer and it works great. Just don’t let it in the cubby box and get hot. Ask me how I know? But the company did replace it for me. Also you need a switch connection cord to turn it off and on.
I bought the unit and I’m satisfied overall. One thing I have experienced is with what happens after a ride. After a ride I might use my phone in my personal car, where the iPhone connects automatically via Bluetooth. When I then use the phone on the Goldwing, the Carlinkit does not connect automatically. I have to unplug then replug in the Carlinkit to connect it to the bike to wake it up. But all of the settings are remembered. It happens very quickly. Then the Carlinkit starts every time after I stop the bike and restart the bike, like if I stop during a ride for lunch.
hello Christ I just want to tell you not to put it in the glove box because it's too hot. I burned two like yours. I past my wire into the rear trunk and it still working great
I'd love to see how well the Android one works. Thanks for the video, I never knew this existed. My Wing would constantly lose connection with my Bluetooth, but when it worked it was very nice.
I just made a reply on this post, but this is what I found. FYI for anyone with Android Auto. Do not buy the CarlinKit 5.0. I could not get it to connect. On either the Goldwing or in my Lincoln MKX. So I got the new version of CarlinKit 4.0 that does both Android Auto and Carplay and it works. What is odd, it asks if you want to connect to Carplay, not Android Auto. But if you enable for Carplay when the prompt comes up, it will connect to Android Auto. Works great.
Im using the Motorola m1 wireless and it works well i can run maps while on tour all day and my new samsung phones batter has at least 30% left after 8 hours on tour, i like not having to put my phone in and out of the top box, i use it a lot for photos during a tour
I bought this unit to try on my 23 DCT. I have a Sena headset on a Neotech ll helmet. I have tried everything that you demonstrated, as well as, reading the comments and trying those things too. I have not been able to successfully make it work every time without a bunch of monkey business. One thing I noticed was that the unit is not automatically hooking up to the bluetooth on my phone each time I start the bike. Good grief! I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max with iOS17. I wanted to try this because a wired connection has its own problems like phone overheating on hot days and hit and miss connections as well. I have been riding a bike for 56 years and now on my 4th Goldwing. I find for me, that with the much increased amount of car and truck traffic than in years past, it is important to have electronic mapping and directions while riding. Especially in congested areas. It allows me to focus much more closely on the surrounding traffic instead of constantly looking for my next exit or turn. I am like you and just want stuff to work without having to go through a bunch of crap to make it work. I'm almost ready to just revert to the old paper maps/atlas again!
This might do the same thing if its just a Bluetooth transmitter thats needed I bought a new helmet but I didnt want to buy the comms unit as I only listen to music not interested in getting phone calls so I bought JBL helmet speakers and Velcroed the unit to the rear underside of the helmet works great bought it off of Amazon 1Mii Bluetooth 5.0 Receiver for Car Audio/ Home Stereo/ Wired Speaker, Car Bluetooth Aux Adapter for Music Streaming, Hand-free Calls, 15H Battery Life, Dual Link (Receiver Only)
I setup the Carlink today with one caveat. I have a 2018 Goldwing and Sena Impulse helmet. The supplied USB to USB-C cable that came with the Carlink did not work. It connected to my truck just fine (thus eliminating a faulty cable) but it wouldn't work with the Goldwing. I grabbed another USB cable that I had and it connected to the Goldwing just fine. I noticed in your video that you used an existing grey cable, perhaps you can try using the supplied USB to USB-C cable and see if your works. I have a feeling the Goldwing connection requires some sort of advanced cabling specs. Thanks for the video, this solution is so much better than using the iPhone.
Hi Chris, this is the product I told you about several years ago. Works great. Sequence is: 1 st. Turn on headset 2nd turn on motorcycle. …. BTW. The impulse helmet connects even better than my previous sena headsets.
Maybe I am in a different tax bracket. I bought the 2022 Gl1800 DCT. Actually still owe money on it. Would you add a ‘price range’ to all your added accessories during review? It makes me think I’m not financially fit enough to ride a Goldwing…. About $1000 short of buying a CB radio to keep in touch with group riders, already put $3K into lights, handlebars, highway pegs….. being retired isn’t cheap!
I received one today it was easy to install, and give me mutch eassier accesto apple CarPlay when I have to pay for gas , every time I have to plug the phone out and in again. The strange thing is that my goldwing ask every time if I want to connect once or always, it is a little slower than when I connect the phone directly Nice Video!
Good video, its setup is about how I thought it would be. I am currently waiting for my Carlinkit to arrive. I am installing it on my 23 Africa Twin though. I'm really looking forward to being wireless. It is fine plugging in if I'm on the road for an hour or more, but 15 or 20 minutes going to town or work or even errands around town its annoying to have to keep plugging my phone it for CarPlay.
I have a similar product from Motorola, which works great. But! It also WILL get hot on a hot day in the glove box and disconnect. I moved mine inside the faring by the inside of the headlight. Just an fyi.
Just one more test please . Get it all turned on and working fine with the bike not running , then start the bike and see if anything disconnects . On my Harley everything works fine until I start the bike , then it disconnects and I have to start all over again with the bike running . I ride a Harley St Glide Special and restarting android auto on the fly can be dangerous .
Good vid. However, short runs is ok to keep phone in pocket but for those of us that go on 1 to 2 hundred mile rides we need the phone plugged in to keep it charged. I have a 2012 audio comfort model and I use my phone for maps and gos. So the phone needs to be plugged in to keep charged and for navigation.
I just plug the portable battery charger to the iPhone in the rear tour pack, and it's good to go! When I arrive at my destination(s) the phone is 100% charged and off I go to do what I need to do. Simplicity is JOY!
I added the second Honda USB kit to the left bag and the cigarette lighter port so I can use either to charge my phone/sena/gopro batteries/charging block etc.
What is the purpose of having a Garmin GPS? When you have Honda maps or Apple Carplay to use for navigation? Plus you can keep your head looking forward?
I have a iPhone 14 and this device would not connect until I unplugged it and plugged back in. The whole issue I was trying to get away from. What I found is once it’s connected to your Bluetooth and you scan the QR code in the manual to get into the settings. You can set the delay before start, I set it to five second delay which gives plenty of time for your headset to connect to the motorcycle and it connects every time.

.Chris, I have a question on the Carlin kit. When connected to the usb if you wanted to charge you phone for a while how do you do it. I have the Carlin kit and if I connect to the spare USB in the pannier the sound goes off what ever is playing on the Apple play and I am unable to use any other options such as Aux or radio. I guess the answer is if you need to recharge the phone then the Carlin will need to be in plugged and use that connection for the phone to recharge.??
I ride my bike to get away from phone calls/ text messages etc. My mobile phone is still there in my pocket or tank bag but only for when I need to use it, not be at it's beck and call .
On 2024 Africa Twin I can connect Apple Car Play without having a headset, just press '"Do not Pair" when asked to pair a headset and then keep the "return/Back" button pressed for a couple of seconds. Car Play will pop up. There may be a similar procedure for your motorbike
So does the phone call go thru the speakers on your helmet or the goldwing’s audio? Also, where would the music sound thru? Helmet or GW audio? I curious.. sorry for the double question 😂
Once you get the phone & Carlinkit paired, go to your browser and enter the numbers found in the Carlinkit manual it will then provide the latest update and graphics of the system. Give it a try no issues with getting the software updated.
I just ordered the CarlinKit 5.0 for my 2021 DCT (haven't received it from Amazon yet). I plugged my Samsung S20FE into the USB data port and was able to get Android Auto to work as well as Sirius XM (app on phone) to work thru the dash/rear bike speakers. I have a Sena SMH10 headset. How do I get the Sirius XM sound to come thru my Sena helmet speakers? I've only been able to listen via front/rear bike speakers at this point. I have the Sena headset paired up via bluetooth for music and phone to the bike, but no music is coming thru the headset speakers. Do I have to only pair the SMH10 directly to my Samsung phone and not the Goldwing bluetooth? Any help is appreciated. Enjoyed the video(s) on this CarlinKit dongle.
I think, that would be a good idea for shorter journeys or not using the navi by iPhone . Otherwise You miss the power from the USB A in the trunk. Navigation app need a lot of power, so the batterie would be very soon empty.

Just bought a CarlinKit model CPC200-CP2A, which supports iPhone 6+ & Android 10+ wireless connection & tried to connect my Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, following your instructions, & couldn't get to "always enable" or to display "HONDA-E47E" no matter what i tried (headset on/off, USB in cubby or auxiliary, phone in-line or not). Do you have any suggestions or solutions?
I never understood this obsession with wireless CarPlay! I actually use USB powered CarPlay all of my vehicles. What the heck are you gonna do waste all the battery on your phone while you're running your GPS apps? Ridiculous.
I have a ‘23 Tour DCT, and an iPhone 12 Pro. Wired Carplay works fine. I’ve tried three different brands of wireless CP connectors. My Sena SRL Mesh helmet connects to the bike, each adapter connects with my phone, CP appears on the screen, and initially all works fine. Then, after almost exactly 3 minutes, CP disconnects and drops for about 30 seconds, then re-connects for another 3 minutes and works fine. Then the cycle repeats. It happens with all brands, including Carlink. I’ve re-started the phone, upgraded to iOS17, changed to different connecting adapter wires, and this phenomenon continues. Every video I’ve seen shows wireless CP adapters working with pre-‘23 Goldwings. Did Honda change something with the ‘23 radio units, hardware or firmware, that may be my issue?

Can you help me, thank you
Video coming soon on this very topic.
Can you post a link to the product in the comments please? Can’t seem to find it👍
Walmart sells it too online.

The instructions are on the website
What is the wireless device on the right side handlebar that has a wire?
Dash cam remote
What are you getting sponsorship Apple?
I wish
Will this also work on your new 2024?
Yes. It already is. Just unplugged it from the 2018 and plugged it into the 2024 and it fired right up!
Just make sure your senais on before you turn on the bike.
I could never get Carplay to work on my 21. I'm on hour 3 for this unit and my iPhone and still nothing!
Maybe my phone shouldn't be connected to bike? Too much to ask 🤦♂️🙆♂️
I ordered one. It never arrived. Just sent off an email to Carlink to inquire. Anyone else have this issue?
Just bought a CarlinKit model CPC200-CP2A, which supports iPhone 6+ & Android 10+ wireless connection
& tried to connect my Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, following your instructions, & couldn't get to "always enable" or to display "HONDA-E47E" no matter what i tried (headset on/off, USB in cubby or auxiliary, phone in-line or not). Do you have any suggestions or solutions?
I should add that my Goldwing is a 2018 DCT.
What if your headset dies?
Thanks!

If i was to have accessory mode on for that amount of time my battery would be almost flat.
Can someone tell me if this works without having a headset on ?
Not on a Goldwing.
Thank you@@cruisemansgarage
Adding another layer of connectivity. Redundancy.
That carlink cost $75 US DOLLARS.
I just don't understand why apple won't make it simple. Why are we forced to connect a headset. I personally never take calls while I ride.
I never understood this obsession with wireless CarPlay! I actually use USB powered CarPlay all of my vehicles. What the heck are you gonna do waste all the battery on your phone while you're running your GPS apps? Ridiculous.
Heat….
Wireless charging causes heat. not plugging in your phone will rapidly drain the battery while using carplay@@AstraeaProductions
for $162 CAD, ill plug my phone in
I just purchased it for $92.56 Cdn. Try adding discount code Prakash.
get an Android phone and test it
I own a Gallaxy S 23 Ultra. I bows away the I Phone. My IT professional wife would never own a Mac book.
Having to turn on your earphones to listen to android auto on a motorcycle is the stupidest thing ever.
I have a 2023 Goldwing and I get the same issue. Keeps disconnecting..! Very annoying.
