Thank you Jenny❤ We are lucky here in Southern West Oregon. The Anna's hummingbirds live here year round. It is amazing to see them out at our feeders in the winter when it is snowing and well below freezing. They are also one of the varieties that sing. We bring all our feeders in at night, usually 7 or 8 of them so they do not freeze and put them back out right before first light. I fed 25 of them all winter. Was filling feeders alot but well worth it.!!!

We have the Anna's hummingbirds all year round, too, in western Washington. I finally bought a hummer heater so I can leave one feeder out when the temps get too low. The nectar gets slushy at 27F. Wow, you're lucky to have 25 all winter. We only have 4-5 in the winter. The first male Rufous returned on March 18th this year. I love when they are buzzing all around us!

My hummingbirds haven’t returned yet but so looking forward to seeing them again. They devoured my Lantana, Cuphea, Calibrachoa, Veronicas, Heuchera, Daylilys and Salvia last year. Am planning on doing the Cuphea and Lemon Coral Sedum combo you posted previously because those colors just pop. Thanks for sharing Jenny!

I use Nutricote 13-11-11 8-9 month (has secondary, and trace elements in addition to NPK) and still every other month in Mid May- Sept give them a water soluble feed - usually what I feed my orchids. Many of these annuals really need the food. I use about 1/2 strength of the water soluble. Also very important, be consistent with watering.

I have been making every effort to plant up hummer friendly plants in the garden and last year we had three regulars. So excited for this season and hope to attract more to the property. 😊

Hummingbirds really like RED....WOOF!! ☺ Just couldn't resist a little tease there! THANKS for your encouragement. Aphids HIT our huge Gen Wheeler red honeysuckle, so we had to finally cut back all the new growth and first blooms. SO...the hummers are looking for it already and so sad it's not there! Your video was reminder to do other things
to feed and keep them happy temporarily!

Aphids are the bane of honeysuckle vines. The first flush of blooms on my coral honeysuckle is destroyed every year. If I get lazy and fail to address the problem, my honeysuckle will become covered by tens of thousands of aphids.

I wish we could post pics in TH-cam comments to show you my question. Like you we have a creek that outlines the back of our property and the side of our house is a mini forest where I am doing a Partial-shade garden. Gets morning sun, damply sun during Noonish and no sun after 3ish-or later during during the summer months, we are South facing sun (zone5). We have sandy dirt all over but we also have a small wet land. Only see puddles after the snow melts. After each rain the water is sucked up ASAP. Would flowers like Putinas go ok in that area? Or what would be a good flowering plant.
