Thanks for this video because i buy all my plant marked down!! I call them my Rescues because all they need is tlc and a home. You are so right buying markdowns saves money! Great information !!!❤
Oh yes! Saving money is always a good thing. These containers are still going strong and I feel like I need to show that in an update. These definitely needed the TLC you talked about. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!
I'm addicted to checking Lowe's clearance plants, especially on Fridays when at our Southern CA stores it's often the start of weekend discounts of 50% or 75% off.
Great to know. I always wondered about when they would go 75% I never pieced that together. I'm definitely going to get down there on Friday! It was so unreal to get these container combos for 75% off. Loved that!
@@williamsgardening There's no guarantee they'll do it every weekend, but it's worth checking. Once recently it was 75% on Tuesday. It depends on how much they've sold and what deliveries are expected.
Oh yes, very good advice. I actually went down there on Friday and found some more at 75% off. Thanks much for the tip. I have great plans for what I was able to find. It's crazy because these new combos that I found were in even better shape than my last find. I think they over stocked for mothers day and now have too much inventory. It's fine with me... gotta love the deals. :)
New subscriber! I absolutely love how they turned out. I too rescue plants if I find any on sale. Last year just towards the end of the season this store that sells pretty much everything including garden things and plants. We saw a rack of different flowers two years ago. They were free. I was like what? So I grabbed several I liked even though they looked almost dead. Took them home. Trimmed them all up. I am in a few Facebook plant groups. I posted them all asking what they were. Tags were missing. 😢 I found out they all were perennials. It blew my mind the store was just giving them away. After trimming them they in the ground except one. Fertilized them all and watered them. I was surprised at how wonderful they were after a couple of weeks babying them. I still have them. Last year we went towards the end of the season and same rack. Free plants. So this year and every year from now on we are going to that store and look to see if they have free plants. Last years freebies were as wonderful as the year before. And we already had the soil, fertilizer and pots from previous annuals. So it costed us basically nothing to plant them. Last year they also had cherry tomato plants for free. So I saved it. Even if they were or aren't free but 50 to 75% off and looking not so good I will buy them and do exactly what you suggested. Thank you for sharing this. I look forward to seeing more videos. Have a great weekend
Hello there and Welcome Denise! Thanks so much for subscribing to the channel. Glad you liked the video and I love what you shared about your story reviving your free plants. That's the best! I would love to get my hands on some free plants for sure. Keep it up and thanks again for your most kind comment. See you in the next video. BTW: I just found some more and am looking forward to using them in a new way. Lots of ideas. Clearance plants are great to experiment with. More videos coming soon. Happy gardening new friend!
Fantastic information and examples!!! Thank you so very much for sharing this! I love espoma products, they have been a total game changer in my young garden 😊
You are so welcome! I am so glad you found the video helpful. Thanks so much for your kind comment! Yes, I agree. I used to use another "name brand" but since I've changed, the difference has been incredible to see. Love their products too. Have a great day!
I bought a couple of the Misty Seas Proven Winners instant recipes. I could believe how bad all of them looked! Lowe's really doesn't take care of their plants. I hacked them back with clippers, repotted them in a huge pot in Black Gold potting soil with a big dose of Osmocote and gave them consistent water and weekly fertilizer with bloom booster. Now they look great!
I’ve bought a few hanging baskets from Lowe’s on clearance. Bought 5, 2 are still looking ok. Arizona heat is no joke. They are doing great one day, and the next not so much. Petunias doing the best-Proven Winners super vista and a Supercal. The Supercal I bought in February or March and immediately deadheaded all the blooms and pruned it so it could grow a strong root system. That thing is in direct sunlight, has a terracotta water spike and rarely uses the water I put in it. Your baskets look great; I’m jealous you get 75% off at Lowe’s, I only get 50% at my store.
Yes, for sure. Excessive heat can be a huge hurdle. Sounds like you have a great plan that worked well. I find that when it's hot and humid, I have the most problems keeping everything alive. Those are difficult to deal with. As for Lowes, it's hit or miss. I was shocked to find them marked down that low. That's why I jumped on that deal. Thanks for watching!
Thanks much! It was a fun video to put together. The only issue I had was being patient enough to let enough time pass before filming the last section. I wanted to share that way before because they were doing well. It paid to be patient for sure. :)
I wish that for you too. I feel kinda the same way because it really is hard for me to find them too. Most have to be ordered, but I know even having that option is a blessing. Thanks for stopping by again Janet!
What a find, loved the before and after. Here in England we are just starting to put our arrangements outside, 1st week of June and more wind and rain expected 😩 oh for more than a few days of sun at a time 😅
Thanks so much. I bet you can't wait to get out there more. I'll pray for sunny days for you guys. Have a great day and here's to many sunny days ahead of you!
Thank you so much Anna! Glad you liked it. I think it has turned out to be one of mine too. It was a fun project for sure. :) Thanks again for stopping by and for your sweet comment. :)
Excellent video and great info. I've been buying 'cast off' plants from Lowe's for years at discount. They have caught on tho and have raised btheir prices quite a bit. They were always $1-5 depending on the size of the pot. No more, but still a good deal.
Glad it was helpful! Yeah, I see that too. I feel like $1 off the annuals really isn't a clearance price that's worth it. When I saw the 75% discount, I jumped. One of my other viewers mentioned that here in SoCal they often mark them down further on Fridays. We will have to check that out soon.
Thanks so much. Yes, you're right. I was surprised to find that they were clearing everything out at 75% for just a couple days... then after, it went right back to 50%. I hope they do that again every so often. 🪴
Lowes has clearance but Home Depot throws them away. I periodically check out by the dumpster and have saved many plants from going into the trash compactor.
I always wondered why I could never find them at the Home Depot. Sad, but I am glad to hear that you were able to save some along the way. Good for you. Saving plants is so rewarding! Have a great day. 🪴
@@williamsgardening Some Home Depot employees said they have a scan to pay method to their vendors. so even if they put the plant on clearance, the vendor gets full price, so they prefer to just throw them away. My Home Depots throw them away pot and all, so even if the plant doesn't make it, I get a free pot. PW pots are usually really nice.
@@mr.a. Just make sure it's the ones they are throwing away. Some locations don't like you doing it. If they ask you to leave, just nicely leave. I try to go before 6am or around 8pm so I am not in the way either of forklift drivers etc.
Absolutely a valid concern. As of now, I haven't had any issues but I do watch for that. If I have an aphid problem, a quick treatment with RoseRx does the trick. It's effective and it is organic. So far so good, but I will keep an eye on them for sure. Thanks for taking the time comment. Have a great day.

I bought 2 at my Lowes at 50% off. I didn't know that I needed to add Pantone. Thanks for the information, I'm going to add it now.
You're most welcome. Thanks for watching and have a great day. :)
Well explained steps. Appreciate the close-ups. Time to go shopping looking for discounted plants. Thanks.

I got 3 pots of Clearance from home depot and will definitely do what you did. They all three look the same as your clearance pot!!!

Yeah they started that here this year, too many u tube videos about all the good plants half off…so they decided to dumpster them….makes sense. Huh

With that much fertilizer, I’m concerned that pests will be attracted to the lush new growth.
