I don’t intend on playing tournaments (I hate playing competitively) but I’m curious why opaque sleeves are required for big events? Why should it matter how you sleeve or don’t sleeve your cards? (I personally don’t like sleeves)
"Newer Keyforge players"? What???? Dude, the game just came out. Like Thursday...Still, you make excellent points. I wholeheartedly agree with reaping it out, but Brobnar, for instance, can gain Aember through fighting.
Sorry I hear what you are saying haha but The Crucible Online and TTS (online Keyforge simulators) have been out for a couple months now, so I have been playing for quite some time. Great point about Brobnar and I am glad you agree with my reasoning!
Hi! New player here. What should constitute taking a mulligan? In MtG, if you had no lands or too much high-cost cards, it only made sense. But in this game, what should I look for in a starting hand? As many of the same class as possible?
Is anyone able to explain the reasoning behind opaque sleeve please? I would have thought an opaque back would allow the possibility of an out of deck card to be included.
From my understanding, it is better to not have marked card backs, which can happen after playing for an extended period of time. Opaque sleeves are pretty ubiquitous in competitive card games. Unique deck names are also on the front of the cards, so that technically should not be an issue.
I agree with the no dice except for chains. The chain card with the donut marker is way wonkier than a die. I prefer to have a die on top of my deck for chains at home but will have to see how casual my LGS is about sich things.
can you clarify your clarification regarding chains? Specifically, is it that you only shed a chain when the chain(s) you have cause you draw fewer cards at the end of your turn? The example you gave was if you are holding six cards you would not shed a chain. But if you are at 5 cards and have 2 chains, you still do not draw any cards but you would shed a chain, is that right? And if you were at 5 cards, 1 chain, and affected by an opponent's succubus, you do not draw, but do you shed a chain? Thanks!
It's hard not to be at first. The conditioning from other card games is that threats need to be removed in order to guarantee success, whereas in KeyForge, quantity is a quality unto itself, and gaining æmber advantage allows you more options in future turns, even if your board position becomes more vulnerable.
So with chians i always view it as drawing your hand with the amount it says like one less than you move it down after each of your turn. So does this mean at the draw phase is when we bring the conuter down?
Can you record Full Screen when you show us games from thecrucible.online? It's hard to see the cards as is, it's even harder when there are useless browser bars at the top and bottom. Cheers.
if you have 5 cards on hand you lose 1 chain ... , because hand number is 6, you have to draw 1, but -1 for the chain, so you don't draw but lose a chain ...
Remember to have your opponent shuffule over the table in mtg there is a cheat where on opposing player would drop a card and rhen call a judge for a deck check and unlike mtg you cant use the same card from a different deckso watch out for this guys
LOL To fight is to Brobnar and Professor J Chronocode will Brobnar with the best of them. The only amendment to the rules I'd like to suggest so far is the concept of Capturing, I think that if you can kill your own creature that Captured from an opponent you get the amber. If opponent can kill your creature they get their captured amber back and if the creature just gets returned to hand no one gets the amber as it is lost. I think it adds more strategy this way:D
Sorry mate : CAPTURE Captured Æmber is taken from an opponent’s Æmber pool and placed on a creature controlled by the capturing player. Players may not spend captured Æmber. When a creature with Æmber on it leaves play, the Æmber is placed in the opponent’s Æmber pool. Unless otherwise specified, Æmber is placed on the creature that captured it.
I'm happy with the system as it stands. Capturing is a mechanic for stalling, not progression (and even then, Mars still manages to make it one by forcing enemy units to capture their own æmber). Captures can afford to be quite large because they're only ever temporary shifts which nonetheless could make the difference between finding the answer you need and them forging that key.
Yup, this video is about things new players do wrong. In my eyes, if you can't even play by the rules correctly you don't need to move on to advanced gameplay topics. Don't worry, those videos are coming in the future! I also discuss tactics and strategy in my many gameplay videos if that is the content you are looking for.
Official rules state that at official events opaque sleeves must be used. They did a video about faq shortly before the game launched and covered this.
Preventing deck building cheaters isn't an issue before Organized Play invents you are require to register your deck and prove that it is the deck that your list states. Therefore deck cheating isn't an issue as I'm sue you're not allowed to have spare cards floating about that could be possibly swapped in
Hey, Graham, I gotta say I agree with you. So much nicer to feel the card. The biggest reason I use them is just bc it makes it so much easier to shuffle!
Oof, to each his own, but with each deck being totally unique it's a shame to rush cards to their grave. Even one damaged card negates the entire deck... maybe try various sleeves? Lots feel different.

@@kevbot734 Thank you for clarifying Kevbot, many thanks.
Also, the decks come with a card that lists every card in the deck so if there is some doubt on the deck being legit you could always check that.

First one yes, second one no. Think ‘if I had no chains, would I draw’
Good Video!!! we want to see how did you made your tokens :3
Great video! Consider upgrading your mic, it's a bit tinny.
Thanks for the feedback! I know it is currently not great; it's on my to do list for sure.
Personally I'd prefer to someone using dice for aember atleast, its too easy to hide or misrepresent how much you have otherwise
Nice video! Subscribed!
Thanks edame you rock! 👊
As a Magic and FoW player, I'm definitely guilty of fighting too much
I did the same when I started as well! It is definitely good in some decks and board states but usually reaping is the better option
My current deck is Dis, Sanctum, Logos. I enjoy the board disruption tools combined with the strong board presence from Sanctum
Glad to hear it! Logos is one of my personal favorites as well. I love that all the houses have a different feel to them
Cool my Heroine of Bloodworld is Dis, Sanctum, Logos. Those Sanctum knights are wicked, armour for days:P

Yes! When you draw up at the end of the turn you draw less card according to your modifier level and move your chain count down by 1.

good content. there is potential to improve (audio!) but there was good information. subbed :D
Thank you! Audio improvement is definitely on my to-do list (it is quite long haha). I truly appreciate the support

Nice vid, I absolutely love Keyforge
Thanks, Mathew I really appreciate the support!
I actually thought you needed to use clear sleeves because of the name on the back of the card
Nope, the name's also on the front of the card, too.
It's on the deck identity card too and is supposed to be displayed when you play.
I put the deck identifier in a clear sleeve and the actual deck in opaque sleeves.
Same! Great minds, eh? (Opening night record: 0-3)
I would love to know how you made the tokens
Cool video😊📹
I would love to see a vid on the tokens you made.
Good to hear some interest! I have a couple of video ideas in the pipeline but I will add this as well.

Yeah, how to make custom tokens would be cool
The chain thing is wrong, you lose a chain even if you don't draw (5 cards)
A lot of this has nothing to do with being good at the game. This video is about where to put your tokens.....

Hearthstone I'd an easy game to play
I'm pretty sure one of the official videos said clear sleeves only. Makes sense to prevent deck building cheaters.

Name of the deck is on the front of all the cards as well.
I'm more of a no-sleeve person. Cards are much nicer to handle without sleeves.
