It seems Kaiju no. 8 was inspired by that series. In a sense, Kaiju no. 8 and no. 9 wasn't stronger in their actual form. They become stronger after adapting the body of their host. In Kaiju no 9's case, he became powerful by stealing intelligence from their vessel and the power of the Kaijus taken by their vessel that he acquired. He can create Kaijus, but was not powerful enough as the former Kaijus defeated by Defense Force. Kafka Hibino otherwise, doesn't need to steal Kaijus' powers to become strong. Because the Kaiju he possesses is becoming powerful through mutation.
