That announcer is iconic some say he's annoying but Bobbito Garcia is up their with the NBA Jam guy and Halo multiplayer for GOAT video game announcers.
Save your gamebreaker because the double gamebreaker is an auto score because it's a cinematic shot for dunks, and three pointers also used multiple turbos to do different dunks and dribble moves. Dunks after multiple dribble moves give you more gamebreaker points so you can get more than one gamebreaker, a game, and a double gamebreaker gives you more points and takes more points away from the opponent.
You can definitely tell the people that were good at the game in these comments. I loved this game so much...I actually did a playthrough at the end of last year. Still funny when Drew said he was gonna max dunks and didn't crown it .
Still cite this as one of my all-time favorite games You could make a team with three different versions of Michael Jordan, and have them play against Nelly, Wilt Chamberlain, and Stretch Monroe on a rooftop court. It was like some crazy dream you have when you're sick and you take too much Nyquil and I loved everything about it
Man I grew up playing this DAILY with my brothers and my friends. Watching you experience this for the first time has brought an incredible amount of joy and makes me want to break out the GameCube again. Keep trying out the street games. FIFA street has an amazing international playlist and the game play is miles better than FIFA's from the last 10 years
They're not lazy, the people in charge just presume that the number of people working on the project and the time it takes to develop both positively reflect on profitability. They don't and it's been essentially a coincidence that that strategy has worked out to this point. Having smaller teams of highly talented and motivated people, working for higher wages, making more targeted games will always work out better in the long term. Sure, sometimes a product will be a total miss, but that's not a disaster when they cost a quarter of what the major releases cost to make now, and they'll take less time to develop if there wasn't so much second guessing and trend chasing happening.
@@sp123The absolute revenue of a product is less important than the total profit it makes. A game that's made by 15 people in 3 years is going to cost less than one made by 200 in 9 years no matter how well you pay those 15. Releasing a lot of smaller, more focused products that don't need to capture the whole market to turn a profit, is in the long term, more profitable than taking a huge risk on a game you're hoping everyone will buy, and it doesn't hurt as much when the smaller games underperform.
@@shockgtheshawnyboyI think he means that we just have 2 type of games on trending, live services or heavy narrative, realistic + impactiful + cutscenes games
Love this game! And sooo grateful you are making a video on it....but you are scratching just the tip of the fun potential in this classic!. A couple of pointers from when me and my bro viciously perfected this game lol. The best playstyle is to get gamebreakers and make trick combos to break down the defense. In the beginning you'll want a specialty person in each area out of the three on your squad, preferably handles, blocks/rebounds, and of course dunking. As you go along every team will have all of the skills very high so it gets very tough, hence the gamebreaker advantage will save you. Handles is the BIGGEST skill you'll want to upgrade early on so you can do the advanced tricks. You'll have enough players on your squad who can dunk so I wouldn't stress the main player having that too early on but it doesn't hurt. Camp your best blocker under the basket on transition, you can goaltend and there is no foul or defensive violations so feel free to camp and block to your hearts content. Definitely upgrade your squad members as you go a little more often because you can't upgrade their attributes, and eventually they are going to be sliced like cheese (but I think you saw that one on the last game haha). And when you go for a dunk and one of your squad goes up for an oop, throw that for more combo points every time ...as this plus your handles leading up to it will combo ridiculous gamebreaker (I saw in the vid you did this towards the end, but trust me do it every time after a trick combo when they jump, also you can double pass if another player jumps again : '-)...I love this game ). Once you perfect the handles into alley oop side of it, or just handles into a regular dunk whichever option comes first, you will literally be getting at least two double gamebreakers a game. And the double gamebreaker is pure DOPENESS, can't wait for you to get that first one you'll freak out haha. The game is very very fun, me and my bro played the breaks off it...there are other things you can do to but I have probably written an essay, I'll end it here haha. Street ball V2 was a classic...and street ball V3....simply put is one of the best games ever made for the genre in my humble opinion.
the GOAT of basketball video games.....everything was on point. the graphics, the gamplay, the announcer, the modes, gamebreakers, all of it. this was released during the golden age of gaming (before microtranscations took over) so we will never see a game like this again.
I remember playing this game religiously with my friends back in the day. We would string together ridiculous combos and then finish them off with a flashy dunk and literally fill the game breaker bar with one combo.
Once you got handles mixed out on one guy and dunks on another, it was so fun to try to get those 1 bucket game breakers. Just sauce everyone up with some moves and then do a multi pass alley oop
this is the last game i’d expect to see on my feed but just the thumbnail alone brought back so many memories of my dad goaltending with shaq and whoopin my ass
One hilarious fact that I learned is that Stretch is a school teacher that’s really tall and athletic who goes to street ball courts and just dominates when he feels like it.
Please please do more of this! All time favorite game. Also quick and dirty tip on how to maximize a gamebreaker immediately: Use Off The Heazy (bounce ball off of opponents head) four times in a row and then go for a power dunk. It's something like 25k points in a single shot.
Posting this mid-watch, if you ever play this again, here are some tips: -Pressing different combinations of the shoulder buttons can make your player do different dunks and tricks. The more shoulder buttons you hold down, the harder the tricks/dunks. But be careful, if your player isn't leveled high enough, they can fail those tricks/dunks and turn the ball over. -To reach the second gamebreaker, you pocket the first one and then do more tricks/dunks to gain style points. Just playing normal basketball won't be enough to reach the 2nd gamebreaker. -The 2nd gamebreaker is worth more points and takes away more points from your opponent than the 1st. Could be worth the risk if you're in a close game. -When you're in the air for the layup/dunk and you see another teammate jump for the alley-oop, pass it to them mid-air for more style points than just a solo layup/dunk. Double and triple alley-oops gets you a lot of style points. -When using your dev points, you can go past 5 bars. The crown above the meter will shine gold when you truly maxed it out. So technically, it's 6 bars to max out a skill. -Finally, be sure to upgrade your team by stealing some of the other teams' players. The players you start with are gonna be too low-leveled to compete with better teams as you do more tournaments. You can also steal NBA players as well. You can only have a maximum of 5 players, so chose wisely
The theme music is so FUCKING good. Legendary track. It's called They Reminisce Over You T.R.O.Y. It samples "Today" by Tom Scott and The California Dreamers. No not that Tom Scott. Amazing song, it is.
Dude you really bring back a lot of memories.. everyday after school. Play this or go shoot ball at the park lol miss those days. Most of my friends are passed away 😢
One thing that really made this game special and was very unique that doesn't get brought up much was that it was released in April just as the 2003 NBA Playoffs were starting (very similar to NBA Jam releasing in arcades just as the 1993 NBA Playoffs were starting) This was and is very unusual for an NBA game

This and ESPN NBA Basketball are easily my two favorite basketball games ever! Me and some friends would skip the first school period after lunch to go to my place and play this when it came out. Gameplay is quite simple on defense, but chaining dribble combos together is addictive and passing multiple times during an alley-oop is just so much fun! It's a lot deeper than the NBA Live games at that time with how a lot of NBA players had signature moves, like Magic's running sky hook, MJ's legendary layup package and Rick Barry did his "granny shot" as a layup. There's also different animations when rebounding, you can do ball snatch blocks, level 1 game breakers aren't automatic and level 2 ones had multiple variations, depending on the spot on the court. It's a shame EA never rebooted this series or remastered the old games with current rosters, instead of trying to compete in the simulation aspect of basketball with 2K.
When I did the Be a Baller mode, I put the most points into blocking. It made it way easier to beat teams that were better than mine. I didn't sweat rebounding so much because having a bunch of blocks got my gamebreaker bar up way faster than rebounds do I also made my player taller though
