  • Oscar Niemeyer is a Brazilian modernist, Le Corbusier’s and Lucio Costa’s student, a Pritzker Prize laureate, and father of modern Latin American architecture. He introduced the geometry of monolithic reinforced concrete to the continent.

    It’s helpful that the dates are included as well as the use. He influenced many other architects. The United Nations buildings in NYC are directly related to his work. He was part of the school of “expressive modernism” that included Saarinen and many current designers. He always included sculpture, art, murals and landscape that enriched the experience.

    The Planalto Palace images are wrong. That's the Congress.

      The first picture is correct, but the other three are the Congress, as you say.
