    Edible flowers such a Primroses can be used to spice or add colour to dishes both savory and sweet. In this tutorial, Tanya from Lovely Greens shows how to crystallize fresh blossoms into sweet and beautiful decorations for use on your desserts.
    They also make a lovely gift idea so why not preserve the flowers of the season, wrap them in tissue paper and give them to a friend.

    I love edible flowers! How long will these last in storage and what's the best way to store them?

    Are there any other flowers that are considered edible that are common to get? I live in the city without a yard of my own, so a lot of this stuff isn't as easily available to me, but I'm really curious and would be interested to try a few flowers. :)

    I bought a box of 12 edible flower heads. It doesn't say what species they are, but I'm guessing it contains roses, marigolds, violets, and something else. Do I need to discard the green part holding onto the petals? Is it poisonous?

      Moondog Not poisonous but probably unpalatable

    Can I do this with roses? Can I use the whole bud?

      The petals, yes, but not a full rosebud.

    How long do they last before going bad?

    • @Lovelygreens
      @Lovelygreens  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They can last up to a year if kept in a cool and dry place

    How long with the sugared flowers last?

    • @Lovelygreens
      @Lovelygreens  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      HorrorBeautyFX Around six months but depending on where they're kept it could be up to a year. My experience is that after half a year they begin to look more like crystallized sugar than flowers.

      Egg white doesn't support microbial growth...it's almost always the yolk that can give you salmonella. Just be careful when separating your eggs :)
