Code Talker Inverted can be summoned in either EMZ, or off the left or right Link Arrows of Excode, as Transcode has left the EMZ you can use either EMZ(assuming the other is empty of course), but you don't need to use the EMZ if you have Link Arrows, even if the Link Arrows are no longer leading back to an EMZ

Hello distantcoder. I have a ruling question from the last local tournament. So in game 2 of the match the guy plays power bond to fusion his monster. I attempted to use solemn strike on the special summon and was conveniently told that I cannot respond to the special summon with strike. That it required either warning or judgment. According to strike it specifies when a monster is special summoned or effect is activated. I would like to know the official ruling please.
strike says:"When a monster(s) would be Special Summoned". So basically when your opponent attempts to special summon a monster (i.e a special summon that doesnt start a chain) when your opponent activates a spell then he just attempts to resolve that spell but not attempts to special summon. At least this seems the way konami says how cards like strike work. Source: go to the translated ygo database or the untranslated one, then translate the faq's of cards that work like strike and it will tell you that you cannot strike a summon that occurs during a chain resolving
IDK if you still need the ruling, but read the difference between Solemn Warning and Solemn Strike. Solemn Warning states, when a spell/trap is actuvated that special summons a monster, Solemn Strike does not have that text, so you can not Strike a special summon done by a spell/trap card.
Are Masked Heroes considered Fusions? So far I understand they aren't. Here is a situation: P1: activates Mask Change on any given Hero P1 controls. P2: chains Dimensional Barrier. What happens here? Mask Change doesn't fusion summon. it Special Summons a Masked Hero from the Extra Deck as in Mask Change II is stated. For this reason, Non-fusion Area can't stop Mask Change. Does Dimensional Barrier applies the same as NFA with Masked Heroes?
Yes Fusion Monster indeed are Fusion Monster. Even if you dont fusion summon a Fusion Monster it is still a Fusion Monster. D Barrier says you cannot special summon a Fusion monster. So the mask change resolves without effect

@@josh-kickk3539 trigger effects trigger in the next chain. So if would be cl1 savage cl2 abs cl3 revolt. You resolve revolt and then cl2 and at last your opp resolves cl1. On a new chain you can use omen and the tri brigade's effects you used for the link summon.

The rules say you're allowed to attempt to send cards from A to B, but if the card legally can't exist in that space, the card does something else(ExDeckMons bounce to ExDeck, Tokens vanish, etc), if the effect was return to hand as COST you couldn't do it, because it fails to resolve as returning to hand, and thus isn't valid Cost payment, but as resolution you can, its just considered to have failed for successive effects that demand the previous one was successful(same reason "Send to GY and then if you do" fails to resolve the successive effect under Macro Cosmos, but you still get the Send)
I have a question about "Machina Citadel" and its effect to destroy itself and other monsters with atk less then or equal. Because it says "destroy it and other monters with atk less then or equal" does that mean my monster has to be destroyed first in order for the other monsters to be destroyed or are they destroyed at the same time, so say if i could save my monster, are my opponents monsters still destroyed
"And" means the effects are co-dependant but simultaneous, ergo if you can't destroy your monster, the entire effect fizzles, but if you can, their monsters blow up at the exact same time

There was an official Konami ruling on this in the face of Dragoon, yes, you have to actually use a Red-Eyes B Dragon in the summon of a monster that lists Red-Eyes B Dragon using RE Fusion

However the reason I was asking was so coder would explain why, and rather than actually wanting an answer I was trying to bring attention to the fact that pendelum mechanics will confuse less experienced players with this rule change. I would assume its because it is that the interaction of being sent to the extra deck is a mechanic not the resolution of an effect, however it could also be assumed that it is because the cards remain face-up while in the extra deck. It's also possible that it is because the effect activates in the extra deck rather than activating on the field, as trigger location could be the key. And it is worth noting that extra deck pendelum monsters exist and what if I phoenix wing say a fusion pendelum monster? I'd like to see coder give a thorough breakdown of how this ruling change works and why, with context of if pendelums have any changes because of the change.

Hi newly returned yugioh player here just wondering if anyone can answer this for me. So me and my friend have just had a duel, for clarification I was using toon World against his Virtual World. Going into my second turn I tried to use a pot of extravagance which he negated with his dragoon (which he used muddy mud and ultimia tzolken to summon) I've then used my comic hand and taken his dragoon. Here's where I'm not sure what should have happened, I've gone to banish his crystal wing with the effect of my toon bls knowing a negate was coming back my way, I thought I would be then able to use dragoons effect to negate the negate seeing as I hadn't used the cards effect. To which my friend informed me I couldn't as its a solid once per turn. I've lost the duel in good spirits being trampled in the process but I was just wondering if I should of been aloud to use the negate which would have won me the duel or do I just need to check the rules🤣
When it comes to effects that can only be used a specific amount of time in one turn, ygo Players distinguish effects into "soft once per turn" (sopt) effects and "hard once per turn" (hopt) effects. Soft once per turn effects can be identified by the phrase: "Once per turn" Hard once per turn effects can be identified by the phrase: "You can only use -here is entered the name of the card- effect once per turn" Note that the thermes hard and soft once per turn are not official thermes, they are being made from the community to explain things easier. The restriction of a hopt effect is placed on the player who activated the card. So if your opp activates an effect with an hopt and you take that monster, then you can activate that effect as you havent activated it yet. The restriction of a sopt effect is placed on the card itself. So if your opp activates an effect with an sopt and you take that monster like dragoon, then you cannot activate that effect as the card has already activated its effect

Hey, I've got a questions, hope someone can answer it. So me and a friend were dueling each other and he drew his last card in his deck. Then it was my turn and I just went straight into my end phase, thinking i would just win this way. Well...I won but he had "Blasting the Ruins" set and couldnt activate it in my Standby/Main/End Phase. He had 30+ cards in his grave and my LP were 2300 at that point. Is there some special ruling for that kind of situation? I tried to look it up online but couldn't find anything. Thx in advance!!!
you cannot not start your turn and just pass without the opponent being able to do sth. That is stated in the official rulebook. You can only go from M1 to EP or from M2 to EP. Even if your friend waited untill you pass turn legally, he would still be able to activate the trap card at your EP
Yeah thats what we thought too. We use a software, called project ignis, to duel. This programm basically decides if you can activate something or don't. In this case, he couldn't activate anything, hence my question.
@@deity2447 Yeah I'm not sure why Project Ignis EDOPro would fail to let him respond, I would guess either he fucked up and accidentally turned chain prompts off, or its a bug, cause EDOPro is pretty good about gathering rulings and trying to let things work right Did you maybe have an effect up that banned Traps? If you are attemping to summon plasma then the opponent has the chance to negate your attempt to summon him. In this window plasma is not yet on the field and therefore doesnt apply its effect yet.

Yes, you can send IO to the GY as cost for Droplets, in which case Droplets will resolve normally.

because konami said that you can attempt to return an extra deck card to hand. It will just go to extra. The same thing also applies to sth like dingirsu vs a token. The token will just disapear
The rules say you're allowed to attempt to send cards from A to B, but if the card legally can't exist in that space, the card does something else(ExDeckMons bounce to ExDeck, Tokens vanish, etc), if the effect was return to hand as COST you couldn't do it, because it fails to resolve as returning to hand, and thus isn't valid Cost payment, but as resolution you can, its just considered to have failed for successive effects that demand the previous one was successful(same reason "Send to GY and then if you do" fails to resolve the successive effect under Macro Cosmos, but you still get the Send)
I have a question about "Machina Citadel" and its effect to destroy itself and other monsters with atk less then or equal. Because it says "destroy it and other monters with atk less then or equal" does that mean my monster has to be destroyed first in order for the other monsters to be destroyed or are they destroyed at the same time, so say if i could save my monster, are my opponents monsters still destroyed
"And" means the effects are co-dependant but simultaneous, ergo if you can't destroy your monster, the entire effect fizzles, but if you can, their monsters blow up at the exact same time

However the reason I was asking was so coder would explain why, and rather than actually wanting an answer I was trying to bring attention to the fact that pendelum mechanics will confuse less experienced players with this rule change. I would assume its because it is that the interaction of being sent to the extra deck is a mechanic not the resolution of an effect, however it could also be assumed that it is because the cards remain face-up while in the extra deck. It's also possible that it is because the effect activates in the extra deck rather than activating on the field, as trigger location could be the key. And it is worth noting that extra deck pendelum monsters exist and what if I phoenix wing say a fusion pendelum monster? I'd like to see coder give a thorough breakdown of how this ruling change works and why, with context of if pendelums have any changes because of the change.
Being sent face down to the extra deck doesnt cause effects to resolve without effect but rather the effect doesnt even activate
@@AngelNearDestruction It boils down to "A monster can not activate effects upon being sent somewhere or destroyed if it is face-down in its destination", so you can't use say, Metaphys effects if they're banished off Pot of Desires, a face-down monster's effects are functionally dead unless the effects specifically apply to a state of being face-down(such as monsters with contact fusion effects)

Hi newly returned yugioh player here just wondering if anyone can answer this for me.
So me and my friend have just had a duel, for clarification I was using toon World against his Virtual World. Going into my second turn I tried to use a pot of extravagance which he negated with his dragoon (which he used muddy mud and ultimia tzolken to summon) I've then used my comic hand and taken his dragoon.
Here's where I'm not sure what should have happened, I've gone to banish his crystal wing with the effect of my toon bls knowing a negate was coming back my way, I thought I would be then able to use dragoons effect to negate the negate seeing as I hadn't used the cards effect. To which my friend informed me I couldn't as its a solid once per turn.
I've lost the duel in good spirits being trampled in the process but I was just wondering if I should of been aloud to use the negate which would have won me the duel or do I just need to check the rules🤣
When it comes to effects that can only be used a specific amount of time in one turn, ygo Players distinguish effects into "soft once per turn" (sopt) effects and "hard once per turn" (hopt) effects.
Soft once per turn effects can be identified by the phrase: "Once per turn"
Hard once per turn effects can be identified by the phrase: "You can only use -here is entered the name of the card- effect once per turn"
Note that the thermes hard and soft once per turn are not official thermes, they are being made from the community to explain things easier.
The restriction of a hopt effect is placed on the player who activated the card. So if your opp activates an effect with an hopt and you take that monster, then you can activate that effect as you havent activated it yet.

Switching Sides doesn't leave the board, so it doesn't reset things... other then being allowed to attack, if you attack with a monster, then your opponent steals it with a quickplay, such as Monster Controller, then you steal it back, it can attack once more
Hey, I've got a questions, hope someone can answer it. So me and a friend were dueling each other and he drew his last card in his deck. Then it was my turn and I just went straight into my end phase, thinking i would just win this way. Well...I won but he had "Blasting the Ruins" set and couldnt activate it in my Standby/Main/End Phase. He had 30+ cards in his grave and my LP were 2300 at that point. Is there some special ruling for that kind of situation? I tried to look it up online but couldn't find anything. Thx in advance!!!
you cannot not start your turn and just pass without the opponent being able to do sth. That is stated in the official rulebook.
You can only go from M1 to EP or from M2 to EP. Even if your friend waited untill you pass turn legally, he would still be able to activate the trap card at your EP
Yeah thats what we thought too. We use a software, called project ignis, to duel. This programm basically decides if you can activate something or don't. In this case, he couldn't activate anything, hence my question.

@@deity2447 Yeah I'm not sure why Project Ignis EDOPro would fail to let him respond, I would guess either he fucked up and accidentally turned chain prompts off, or its a bug, cause EDOPro is pretty good about gathering rulings and trying to let things work right

@@PaoloCatcher the effect of plasma is a continious effect that us only applied if plasma is on the field. If you are attemping to summon plasma then the opponent has the chance to negate your attempt to summon him. In this window plasma is not yet on the field and therefore doesnt apply its effect yet.
