    Not a paid advertisement!!!
    The best time to buy a boat is always at a boat show. They are able to give you better deals plus room for negotiations.
    Their stocks go up when they sell at boat shows, so it's a win - win for everyone. The service at Marine Max was top notch and I love how you become a part of the boating family. You get invited to events they have year round. The boat is so fun and a breeze to clean. We have used it almost every weekend the entire summer.
    Her official name is "Piece of Ship" LOL we wanted something silly.

      Boston Whaler I wish Boston whaler would bring back the original classics. I own a 1966 13 ft whaler and I think they are nicer then the new style , don’t get me wrong , the new ones are sweet looking , but there’s nothing sexier then the original ones with teal or mahogany seats. Metan marine makes the whaler clones . It’s actually a spot on clone

    I'm concerned the sales guy on the demo ride told you to open it up, every O/B motor I've owned had a break in period, it's always good to follow the owners manual on break in. Have fun with your new boat!

    This is a great boat for small people. The weight capacity is 4 persons or 485lbs. This makes a huge difference in getting on plane. I'm a big dude at 285 and balancing the boat takes a little work. The boat can take on water if you go over the weight limit. They are unsinkable but will flip over. I know from experience. Still love the boat but I am always conscious of large wakes, waves and weight. Congratulations on your purchase.

    • @janetfeliciano4840
      @janetfeliciano4840  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. We are both fairly small so it’s perfect for us. And u are correct about having heavier people on and planing... We have a friend a little on the heavier side and we bring him along and although he does move the boat alot when we are anchored ⚓️ we haven’t had any problems or near misses or near tips. Lol 😆 I can imagine it right now though lol But we bought something for the motor so it can plane faster. We will post it on the follow video coming soon. Thanks 👍🏼

    • @daveroberts7295
      @daveroberts7295 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your weight capacity figure is off. That should be 449 kg or 990 lbs. A boat with 445 lbs capacity is not usable. Certainly not by four adults even 4 children nowadays. Yes, balancing a boat with one heavy dude and a light dudette is tricky. My Lund has a side console and I back some lead into the boat to trim it side to side. When I have a heavy passenger I might pack a 5 gallon can on water. Or place a heavy cooler opposite them. Trim is very important for efficient boat operation. I carry a small anchor in the bow and place my cooler there too and the boat is then perfectly set up to plane without adjusting motor trim. A rule of thumb is if you cannot plane with 40 hp you are bow heavy or stern heavy. You want the keel horizontal. It might mean putting somebody right up in the bow since most small boats end up with their weight in the back.

    Based on what you've said, you made a good decision downsizing. I'm on my 26th boat and my 4th Whaler. The 150 Sport I have now is my favorite of all. Previous Whaler was a 170 Montauk, WAY WAY too big for my uses, mainly fresh water fly fishing. My family didn't like it either. This will probably be my last boat, at least in this size range, as it's so perfect. I'll just repower when the Merc gives out. Congratulations!

      You know, that sound of a bigger boat is great but once you get it.... you realize that hassle of paying so much in gas for the truck, gas for the boat, and the clean up afterward, might just take some fun out of your day. So the smaller boat is just a little more convenient because you still get to fish in it and do all the same stuff you do in a bigger boat 🙂

One truly useful upgrade I would strongly recommend is a VesselView Mobile module for your engine. It mounts under the cowling permanently and you can get all the engine data on your phone in real-time, including maintenance schedules and running experience. Research it...it is so worth the money.

    Hi guys, thank you for sharing your experience and as others comment it is not all about going bigger in terms of boat size. You see lots of YT videos of people on crazy big boats with multiple outboards and thats ok but imo a good boat is one you use often as the costs to buy and maintain are so high.
    I have a similar whaler set up and recommend the Mercury Vessel View device. It is a simple as to diy install (i did) just a small plug in harness to your Mercury outboard motor under the engine cover and a cable tie. You download an App on your phone and it connects via bluetooth. The App shows information about your engine hours, speed and lots of features like check lists and service support. It is a nice bit of information if you have a good secure phone holder on your helm console!
    Thanks from the UK

I put one on mine and it makes slow manoeuvring a breeze especially if you have wet hands on your slippery stainless helm wheel it is just a handle/knob made from St/steel wheel knob these are great and not much in cost.

    Wow, you have some super crowded waterways to boat in, but still beautiful and fun. Still so excited for you and I hope you're enjoying the boat. Another recommendation for you if you are going to add a second fuel tank: Have them install a fuel selector under the seat on the seat support and some quick connect sprayless connectors. to each tank. You can then leave both tanks connected all the time and just choose which tank you want to draw from. You will never have to struggle with connecting a tank while out on the water and the boat will stay much cleaner. The other item to consider is a good cover. For my 130SS, I chose the Carver brand semi-custom cover I bought online with Sunbrella fabric from boatcoversdirect.com. It's great for keeping the boat clean and fastens securely to the trailer when hauling the boat around. I travel from the Great Lakes to Virginia to Florida to my different boating locations and the boat is just as clean when I arrive as when I left home. They come with tie-down straps and a storage bag included and you can get a color to match your boat. Good luck on your next adventure.

      The Montauk it great. Anything from Boston Whaler it great.
      Although I feel it looks a little Boxy toward the back and I wish the put seats in the back because there is space for it. I just feel like they didn’t really use the space in the as well as could have.

    Nice video! I am also a new owner of the 2109 130 Super sport. Great boat for weekend fun! I have a question: When I put my bimini top down all the way to go under fixed bridges, my bimini sits on top of the motor and as a result I have scratched it. Is that the same with yours? Just wondering if my top was placed incorrectly by the dealer. Thanks, and enjoy!

    • @janetfeliciano4840

    Hi, I’ve been watching your review videos. Thank you for sharing! Now that you’ve owned this boat for a while, what is your opinion between the 13’ and the 16’? This will be my first boat and I have 3 sons, ages 12-21. I will mostly be using it with the younger two. But am nervous if the boat will be big enough for us to feel comfortable. My boys keep growing! 😅. Any thoughts? I super appreciate it! I’m from Orlando and am looking at Marine Max too 🙂

    Are you sworn to secrecy 😄 or can you say how much you paid? At the 2019 New York boat show the price with rails was $17,300. My local dealer is asking $20,700 😮.

    • @janetfeliciano4840
      @janetfeliciano4840  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      alexat62 honestly I would wait for the boat show because they usually give about an 11% discount on the $20,000 they can go down a few grand. Close to $17-18,000 We traded our 17 ft Mako and paid for the remainder. ☺️

      Thank you for the post I just built a 14ft I'll send pic of if you want and I'm considering starting a company about it because I enjoyed it so much and the B whaler was my inspiration as far as unsinkable is concerned. They where previous the only other boat that you can take the plus out and still sit level aka really float properly and functionally. Your boat is sweet btw if I had the dough that would be my choice but I built a comparable boat for a faction of the price thonits no whaler it's most def whaler like for sure as construction is very similar.

      Guys were in the same quandary here, we have the boat seats wondering if it’s best to mount them directly to the bench or if there is a recommended seat mount we should put in there as well, any advice would be appreciated

    • @janetfeliciano4840
      @janetfeliciano4840  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Derek Signore I think 🤔 we pit the seats in directly without the mount because the mount made the seats a little too high for our liking. We drilled holes directly into the fiberglass. (That’s was fun... sarcasm included) lol 😆 although putting mounts are also a good idea. I would place the mount then the seat on top and test the level to see if you like it. If so then add the mounts and of not then just drill the seats directly on. I’m not sure which mounts would be best but I will try to look up some info and add that to my update video. 😊

    Question we literally just bought the same exact boat as yours but are having trouble deciding on seats, while we like the seats you have how did you mount them straight seat to the bench or did you buy a mounting kit we’re not really seeing any out there that would work, any advice would be appreciated

    • @janetfeliciano4840
      @janetfeliciano4840  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think 🤔 the seats came with the mount. Honestly I can’t remember, but we did buy them from Bass Pro Shop in Orlando, Fl. I will try to remember to mention it in the update video I will be doing in a few weeks.

      Less than $20,000 because we purchased it at the boat show. They are usually able to lower the price significantly during a boat show because their numbers reflect on how many they sell during those shows.

      At the time be bought it we got it for about $18,000 at a boat show.
      They are able to give better deals at the boat shows. Plus, because the financing is extended to longer periods, the monthly payments are really good. I think we did a 15 yr finance and the payments were around $150 month. The lower payments allow you to pay it off sooner if you’d like. We paid it off in 2 years but were glad the payments were low.
