I'm giving this video a thumbs down. You missed an important step, telling the user to extract the contents of the zip file with software like 7zip, and then actually capturing you selecting the correct file. 13:40 is lost due to you not capturing other windows in the capture settings, and you're very vague describing the correct file. We don't see you selecting the correct file, and without directing the user to unzip the file, we're left to assume you're selecting the zip file to upload. Thank goodness the router software blocks this instead of trying to load a bad file and cripple the router.

I have 2 router to connect to my main Asus router to forma 3 router AiMesh. They all are Asus routers. Once I setup Asuswrt Merlin on my main router, do I need to change the software in the other two AiMesh routers also? If so, how?
does AC66U_b1 count as AC66U? I have the AC66_b1 but I only see AC66u , so is that FW ok for my variant? I also have a AC5300 so if i set up merlin on the main AC5300 can I use stock FW on the AC66u_b1 if I set it up as an AI mesh node or woul the AI mesh node routers need to be using merlin too?

Yes that's what is really good about Merlin, all your existing settings don't change. Your login and Password you used for the router before will stay the same.
I'm getting the GT-AXE11000 on Thursday and have downloaded the merlin version but confused because you mentioned the software ending in .w but mine end in .pkgtb and there are two files: GT-AX11000_PRO_388.1_0_nand_squashfs and GT-AX11000_PRO_388.1_0_rog_nand_squashfs. Which one do I install?
After the install the router will restart and your devices will disconnect, but as with any restart they should all reconnect as the WiFi SSID (Name) & Password and details all stay the same.

@@EclipseReviews I just got it about a month ago, have you found you needed to cool it down? If so what solution diff you implement. My cpu hits around 55C and then cools down in the night.

I highly suggest default the firmware before changing to Merlin. Also restart your router before upgrading router, helps with memory leaks
You mean "Factory default" option on the asus panel? Not the no physical reset button on the router. Right?

Thought the Merlin firmware wasn't ever supported on GT based Rog Routers in the thumbnail I seen mine got excited to see it.
GT-AX11000_388.1_0_rog_ubi.w has the ROG interface menu so we don't need to see that blue/grey menu.

Default AsusWRT firmware does not give you the options sadly.

Yes you can use AiMesh on to connect them both.

I need adblocker only. Is there a way to setup it on stock firmware or merlin is only way? (I'm aware that I can use pihole)
There is a way to change the DNS servers to block ads, but not tried this myself so not sure how effective this is.

Amazingly the router still is super reliable and still getting the latest firmware updates and features from Asus.
