  • This video documents some changes I made to the saw for my records. It's not professional, but thought I'd share.

Bummer about the glue choice. Use elmers WHITE glue only. The3 holding power is good, oil wont bother the glue, and when you get to the last slab on the board just soak it in a bucket of water and the slab falls off with no damage.

Bob, I use Water Glass to secure the rock to the wood block. It a concrete sealer you can get by the gallon. Old trick long time cutter told me about. works great.

Thanks Jerry. I'll give it at try. Have you ever had a rock come off using the Water Glass? Any tricks to apppling it? Do you clamp it? What else do you use it for?

@@bobdietrich5146 Never had any issues, just slab a small section off to give it a flat surface then apply to face of stone, lay it flat on the board overnight. After last cut, soak in water and it will come right off. I purchase mine from Amazon (Rutland products $25 a gallon. Do not remember if I deleted it at all.

Dont know why it's so important to make the saw so small as to only allow a 2" crossfeed? Also, what kind of turd weld is that on the vise clamp? Overall looks like a well built, for the most part, saw but us guys could always find something we dont like or could make improvements too lol. It justs looks like a lot of stuff to cram into such a small tank and they all do it.

Yes, they could have put a bigger chamfer on the bottom of the wood jaws and the welds could have been bigger for more strength. Maybe they want to sell us a new vise now and then. :) I use a C-clamp to clamp the outside of the jaws together, when I don't want to put too much torgue on the vise screw and risk stripping it out. Be carefiul so the C-clamp doesn't hit the top cover. I had to shorten the Acme threaded screw on the C-clamp. I chose this small saw to allow me to get it down the basement steps, but still had to take the motor off for weight reduction so my wife could carry it. :)

@@bobdietrich5146 It wasn't that the welds look small its that they are terrible on what was shown. Me and a friend carried a lortone ls18 up a set of stairs. It wasnt fun. Wouldnt be possible to do that with HP unless you were superhuman. I was told a long time ago that you could be the best welder and the only weld seen will be the crappy one.

A smaller crossfeed allows for tighter tolerances with less expensive materials.
