I'm proud to say I'm Maltese. And I always will be. I think every song we've sent to the Eurovision has been good, not necessarily the best, but we've never sent a bad song. Proud of you always Malta, whether you win or not! To me, you are always and forever the winner!
Still amazes me to this day. This is a tremendous song, with such sweet, mellifluous and yet unexpected melodic turns. A very modern, contemporary pop song only perfected by Mary's searingly powerful voice which underscores the melody and performance in all the right places.
Wow .. just wow. The incomparable Mary Spiteri. This is an amazing song from Malta, it builds up so well to a sweet crescendo of melody and emotions. Amazing and to be expected from Malta .. they always used to send such solid, modern songs. Thank you!
This was my first Eurovision as a fan, and I couldn't stop watching the preview video for this in the weeks leading up to the contest. If the preview video was good, then this live performance was ten times better. Superb!
beside all the private no 10 to No 1: Overall all songs since I've been watching ESC, since about 1975, THIS is my personal ESC Song No. ONE. From the most friendly an beautiful Country of Europe. we visited 4 times, nearly everywhre, specially in Xlendi, Gozo Thanx for posting.
Powerful, and what a lady. This was one of 3 songs that I was rooting for way back in '92. Apologies to Mary Spiteri, I was unable to read your address to send a thank you note🎉🎉🎉
she is a beautiful lady with a wonderful unique voice. I would love to hear her sing a songe called One Day at a time sweet jesus. I think that would really suit her voice. I think she is amazing and so well respected around europe.
Do sedaj najboljša evrovizijska popevka za malo malteško državico.VIVA MERI SPITRI.WITH LOVE FROM SLOVENIA🎤🎤😇😇🇸🇮🇸🇮❤❤🌹🌹Škoda,da pesem ni izvedena v malteščini,da bi bolj zaznali njihov domač jezik...
I,m spaniard and I,m proud that my country has given 12 points to Malta that year. Deserved to win!. One of the best performances of all time in Eurovision
Juan Carlos García Agreed :D. Malta has deserved to win SO many times - 1992, 1998, 2002 and 2005. And yet they were stuck with third, third, second, second :(.
***** In 1997 and 2007 also (deserved to win), but in 1992 Malta deserved to win CLEARLY. Look at the 1992 rehearsals. Mary Spiteri was by far the most applauded participant!!!.
Well that person obviously had taste. I'm Irish and this is in a different league to Why Me and Mary Spiteri is a far better singer. This is one of my all time favourites, loved everything about it from the Tourist Board video they did for the previews to the song on the night. Malta actually got more 12 pointers on the night but sadly the jury voting back then was often eclectic to say the least, that said, far better than the neighbourly voting we've got since the viewer votes were included.
tell me more about how many times Ireland won when more Eastern countries got in the festival. Malta really began showing effort in sending good songs since 1992. Malta for example wouldve won if Lithuania and Estonia didnt participate in 2002,
Yes Spiteri is quite a common surname in Malta. As for the leadsinger of Texas, I don't know if she has Maltese origin, but that's very likely since many Maltese used to emigrate to US, Canada and Australia in the past century.
Despite its mixed fortunes, Malta is the most successful country to never win the contest, having come 2nd twice (2002 and 2005) and 3rd twice (1992 and 1998) with singers including Chiara and Ira Losco. REASON: GOOD SONGS.... NO NEIGHBORS.

How great internet is before hood people who gave alot to the poor likeMary spiteri fid they used to end in newspaper thrown away now we can 4njoy good people eho lives to give alot
i actually cant believe i got directed to this by someone claiming this was better than linda martin with why me. why me hands down the best song that year.
Well All I can say that Malta is one of the smallest countrys In Europe and with a population just over 400,000 people they the largest countries cannot stand such a smaller nation to produce such talents and songs such as Mary and Chiara contributions in the past, Just pea green jealous that coutries with millions of of people get beaten by a tiny equally talented nation as Malta :)
Is Spiteri a common name in Malta? I know, that there is also an artist named Mike Spiteri in Malta. And Charleen Spiteri, leadsinger of Texas (Summer Sun). Is she also of Maltese origin?
Great song. Hated the winner Why Me. This was best followed the catch danish entry Alt Det Som Ingen Sehr. Prob then One Step Out Of Time third best for me. Good contest 92. One of the better years before it descended into garbage 2001 onward
Scotty boy: It pains you that Bonney wee Scotland are prevented from entering Eurovision while Australia are allowed to enter!!! At least uefa and FIFA for all their faults allow Bonney wee Scotland to compete but the backward EBU refuse Scotland entry !!
Nothing special to me, but at least this performance was descent, unlike the previous year's sixth-placer. There's nothing gripping about the song to me at all, and imo, Mary Spiteri's singing voice is an acquired taste. Just not my cup of tea. Don't ask me how she came ahead of Italy.
Yes, couldn't have said it better myself. I mean, her voice... I liked it at the climax, but in the rest of the song - esp. at the verses - it really hurt my ears...
S. Leo Chapman well she said in a tv show that she had won but the president made a phonecall so that she doesnt win becaus of financial problems..... all her words not mine
You like to use the term "way far" a lot, I see. ;) Well, I can't say I agree; imo, this song does have the potential but I can't stand Mary Spiteri's singing. Imo, Italy had the real potential winner.
well the song that won only has one neighbour, who was getting bombed to fuck by the ira at the time so not really an excuse at this stage in the competition. its a prob now because there is 3 times more countries in eastern europe than the west/north and they all vote for each other as they were all once either yugoslavia or russia which is ruining it for coutries like ireland, iceland etc who really have no neighbours.
really gr8 song but as we are a really small country with no neighbours and border countrys we cant win the euro vision if one take an example on this song one can under stand that on this really small island we have the quality of profesionals too and let the votes to the gr8 songs not to their neghbours or change of votes ..... im proud too be maltese
very kitchy boring ,old fashioned song which only deserves its good spot for the fact that Malta was one of the few countries singing in english at the time
True winner of 1992! Wonderful song. Big kiss from Norway
and the Netherlands
We have our neibourghs far away that's why haha
I'm proud to say I'm Maltese. And I always will be.
I think every song we've sent to the Eurovision has been good, not necessarily the best, but we've never sent a bad song.
Proud of you always Malta, whether you win or not! To me, you are always and forever the winner!
apart from Vodka
A classic eurovision song that never dies its an ever green song
Still amazes me to this day. This is a tremendous song, with such sweet, mellifluous and yet unexpected melodic turns. A very modern, contemporary pop song only perfected by Mary's searingly powerful voice which underscores the melody and performance in all the right places.
One of the best songs ever in Eurovision....Send more of it, MALTA!
Wow .. just wow. The incomparable Mary Spiteri. This is an amazing song from Malta, it builds up so well to a sweet crescendo of melody and emotions. Amazing and to be expected from Malta .. they always used to send such solid, modern songs. Thank you!
reminds me of my childhood...mummy used to listen to it over and again...miss you mummy, love you
This was my first Eurovision as a fan, and I couldn't stop watching the preview video for this in the weeks leading up to the contest. If the preview video was good, then this live performance was ten times better. Superb!
A powerful ballade and a lady with powerful voice! Absolutely fantastic!
simply amazing!!! what a voice!!! I miss home even more whenever I listen to this song big time!!!
Loved this so much I bought the CD and been listening to it ever since. Nice to see her in action again.

eurovision record - 13 second note .. well done :) VIVA MALTA
I don't think this is the record anymore. Paula Seling this year held a note for 19 seconds.
***** It has to be a single note; it is easier to shift notes than to hold a note when you are going for a long one.
I,m spaniard and I,m proud that my country has given 12 points to Malta that year. Deserved to win!. One of the best performances of all time in Eurovision

Waarom horen we dit lied niet meer tijdens de Songfestivals. Prachtig lied!
I'm proud to be Maltese! Since we have beautiful things!!! Beautiful voices, beautiful country, etc etc ;-)
Wonderful
i love this song and it should have won the Eurovision song contest
this one and the Irish entries were the best songs that year
one of my top entries in the history of the ESC
Maltas best songer ever!
Wonderful song and awesome singer!. Deserved win!! Better than Ireland. I think this was the best entry ever in ESC.
me too - she is a winner and still valid today 2010 - thanks Mary Spiteri
It was one of several great songs this year along with Italy, UK, and Ireland. How very sad that ESC has fallen apart into what it is now.
Keeps amazing me. Such a talent
BEST EVER.
it so deserved to win....
Malta have been robbed of deserved victory several times.
Well that person obviously had taste. I'm Irish and this is in a different league to Why Me and Mary Spiteri is a far better singer. I hope she represents Malta next year in Helsinki :D She might get my vote :)
One of the moments when I feel proud to be Maltese!
This is No 1
a real diva
Mary and Chiara are the best female singers we have on the island, they have no competion localy.
What a voice !
wow....live orchestra!!!
Mary il Queen ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

God voice
wow what a song! :O
Far better than Ireland's entry that year and a SURE WINNER
omg the last word think through it is she makes it perfect like when chiara sings the long "me"
unique voice
I love this songs and it should have won the Eurovision song contest
Our maltese queen 👸
Malta is robbed every year. Our songs are too underrated like with Ira Losco and Chiara

keşke yayımda, keşke yanımda olsan

Our maltese Queen 👸
Unfortunately I can't help but agree. I've always prefered the Maltese version of this song, mainly because she sounds so much more expressive.
Kemm hi brava Mary
mary tagħna dik
very nice song....how can it be that Malta never wins the eurovision??????? :)
Because neighbours vote for neighbours. Always been always will...like yesterday
There seems to be a Eurovision law; when Sweden wins, the backing singers of that entry perform for Malta the following year.
this makes me a proud maltese
jien mary spiteri fan u proud mawx bhala mary!! ejja mar hantuwwommm!

Dolores Umbridge represented Malta at ESC? Fancy!
So the little child is Harry
@dalesdad28
You have no idea how much I agree with you !
Is Spiteri a common name in Malta? I know, that there is also an artist named Mike Spiteri in Malta. And Charleen Spiteri, leadsinger of Texas (Summer Sun). Is she also of Maltese origin?
Yes
Malta's Whitney Houston at her best.... definitively a winner...cant remember who won that year!!!!
What Rodoportugal meant was that he likes her; that she is a great singer. Not that Shirley Bassey is Maltese. It was a compliment to her.
she was only 45 at this time - I always thought she was in her 60s. Lovely song though.
@dalesdad28 I don't think it was better than the UK entry that year but it was certainly better than the Irish funeral march that won.
Great song. Hated the winner Why Me. This was best followed the catch danish entry Alt Det Som Ingen Sehr. Prob then One Step Out Of Time third best for me. Good contest 92. One of the better years before it descended into garbage 2001 onward

3rd???
No way...
Without neighbours we will never EVER win!
She's a diva.
uk should be ashamed they did not give Malta any points.!!! the best song ever!!!
Totally agree.
This was WAY far the best song. Michaell Ball and Linda Martin weren't special and only Greece and Cyprus came close to Mary
well ireland has only one neighbour who we famously dont get on with and we've won more than anyone.
ESC 1993 should''ve been held in Valetta instead of Millstreet....
LIKE 98 AFTER THE NIA IT HAD TO BE MALTA IN 1999 NOT IZRAEL
@@josefcamilleri6934
Israel deserve win in Birmingham 1998 ,Malta 1992 and 1998 not good song
For me this is second ireland 1st and uk 3rd
Yes, couldn't have said it better myself. I mean, her voice... I liked it at the climax, but in the rest of the song - esp. at the verses - it really hurt my ears...
I liked this song, but I never got why people said it should have one. She has a nice voice, but Linda Martin's song was much nicer, for me anyway.
S. Leo Chapman well she said in a tv show that she had won but the president made a phonecall so that she doesnt win becaus of financial problems..... all her words not mine
Jordan Grech Link?
It is down to performance for me. Malta gave a powerful performance whereas Ireland's performance seemed whiney and pathetic...

very kitchy boring ,old fashioned song which only deserves its good spot for the fact that Malta was one of the few countries singing in english at the time
This GREAT song was not old fashioned in 1992!!!. It was a US-style ballad, typical of its time!!
Check Italy's entry which criminally ranked lower than this , and you will see real artistry and singing in display
It,s your opinion. I think "Little Child" andMary Spiteri were much better than Rapsodia and Mia Martini (Rip).
Juan Carlos García I did also liked that better than Rapsodia. A cheerful tune, with a tour-de-force performance.
greeko25
Italy was incredibly boring.
