Wax apples always stand out in fruit stands with their lovely pink colour and cute shape. In Yunnan, there are two varieties of wax apples, namely red and pink, with slightly different shapes and tastes. Tree-ripened wax apples are juicy and fleshy. In terms of sweetness, they taste like pears, but with a hint of their own unique fragrance. Wax apples are usually made into salads and juice. When used as fillings in Chinese meat pies, its crisp texture makes the filling juicier and less greasy. Meat pies with wax apple fillings are not greasy at all. You must give them a try.

She is so kind and hardworking. She always is the last to sit down and eat. She is always making sure Ahao, grandma and grandpa get the best pieces. She is always making sure everyone else is taken care of before even thinking of herself. I hope someday she has someone that puts her first. She deserves it. She's the type of role model we need. Selfless and extremely hard working. There are no words for me to express how much I admire her!

Penji is the only one that doesn't critique Ahao's style of eating. Because she is the one that is usually cooking
all the delicious food, while being the least critical, Ahao probably loves Penji the most.

Wax apple bring back so much of memories back in Vietnam. I was born in Vietnam, and when I was little my parent usually serve us a lot of wax apple with a side of this mixture of salt and minced that chili pepper. If I can remember by memory, the fruit have a texture of an apple and is somewhat a bit airy (which makes it so satisfying to bite into) and the fruit is sweet with a very little and unnoticeable sourness. Eating this fruit was so common back then in Vietnam, but my life there was short as I have to move to America when I was 8 for better education and up to this day (I’m 21 now) I’ve never saw any sold in any asian market, even at my local Vietnamese store. The only time I was able to eat it was the time I visit back in Vietnam for a month 5 years old.

This video was hilarious, Ahao's interactions with Axia are very funny. Even though Ahao doesn't get to eat Apen's good food at school, at least he gets his fill of it when he's at home. He's very blessed. I remember eating wax apples as a child when I lived in Puerto Rico, there though we called them pomarosa's. Now I live in the states, but I often remember them, they are very delicious.

@@5leafclover1 For me they taste nothing like apple and they also have many varieties. The honey variety is sweet and the regular ones are just mild. But they are crunchy. In Malaysia they are popular among women who like dipping them in chili and soy sauce as snacks. They are good companions to cucumber, jicama and pineapple in fruit salads with peanuts and soy sauce dressing. Well if cucumber and jicama had a baby they sure taste like this fruit 😁

Here in Indonesia, we call those "Jambu".. I had two trees of jambu at my childhood home and i used to spend a looooot of time on the tree. Especially during holiday, me and my friends would climb up the tree and we stayed there since morning.. the fruits became our breakfast, brunch, lunch and snacks before finally got off for dinner.. 😂

It’s fun seeing how so many different countries have these apples! I didn’t know it was that common. My family calls them “cloud apples.” For anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity to eat them they are light and airy in the center and have an almost spongy(?)/airy and crispy texture. The exterior looks waxy naturally. It has a mild sweetness, not too overwhelming.

They are freaking delicious, sometimes I dip it in salt to fight the sourness, so I can easily finish them. Interesting, in Vietnam. We called it “cây mận”, which weirdly translate to pear tree (cây means stick/tree/plant, and mận means plum). My parent eat this so many countless of times as a snack because it is cheap and the sun market next to our house always have a bunch at stock. Though, this was back then at the early 2000s. Now I’m in American and the fruit was way too hard to find.
