Like but daddy i love him actually makes very little sense without knowing about the fan reaction to their relationship last summer, and the title track (the tortured poets department) purposefully sounding like a the 1975 song. Besides just being able to notice that stuff in the music, it doesn’t really matter though

Funny part with Downtown Lights is that it is off the Album Hats released in 1989. The cover art for Hats has the black silhouette of a man’s head in a hat very similar to the background people in the Fortnight video typewriter scene.

The reference to "hedge maze" in the UK, a Hedge Maze is a polite way of describing cleverly sculpted female lower body hair. Trying to keep it PG. So... What do you do in a maze? Look for the center, there's always something great there. Next line "Oh what a way to die" The French refer to the completion of an encounter as "La petite mort". The little death.
