    This is the most beautiful 1956 Chevy I’ve ever seen. I wish today’s car manufacturers would bring this paint color back as it’s truly a great eye catcher. Thx Mr Lou for choosing this beauty for our viewing pleasure! ✌️

    Coming in late here but they definitely made single color convertables in 1956! Two tones were all the rage during that time so most people opted for that. Still single colors were made too and not that rare. Some guy who attends a lot of the local car shows brings his black one once in awhile. I will say that silver color was rarely ordered. I’ll keep quite about the skirts and Continental Kit. In spite of those it’s a beautiful car!

    Wasn't the prism actually for cars that had a front window shade that was optional, As it was hard to see the light as it extended out over the roof?

    The man said,it has only a powerglide and he talk all the time about the 1 on 1 color...there is also the optional continental wheel carrier,the fenderskirts,the hockeystick list(stone guards),the optional whire wheelcaps,front bumperguards,front fenderornaments,rear fender antenna(option),deluxe heater,double exhauts(that is normally in the powerpack option with a 4 barrel carb but here it is a 2 barrel)tissue despencer,beautifull car on my opinion

    There were 14 solid colors available for the 56 Chevy...and 752 is one of them. It might be the one from that plant, but doubt it's the only one. If the Vin code was posted, we could see the build date and then see if it was an early build or later. Upside down emblems are just a bad reinstall after painting..seen it many times with folks who don't pay attention to what they are doing. I doubt the couple actually met the factory people who built the car..all they got was an order, and they filled it.

    Im impressed with the continental kit that is mounted on the rear of Ken Nagel 56 chevy conv. I know the color is one of one but that is not my question. I have a blk/White 56 conv regardless of what the original factory color is unimportant. What is important to me is the continental kit with the wire in the center. I have checked maker in the U.S. and CANADA. They have all informed me that you CAN NOT install a continental kit like Ken has unless you cut holes in the hub cap because the tire is installed backward.I have looked at the picture with some friends and the hub cap has no visible cuts in it But the on es with the factory standard hub cap you can see the bottom of the hub cap cut out. I know you have better things to do than answer my questions but I would love to have the set up on mine in white with a chrome ring. Please help me find the truth

      I installed the cont. kit. I had to cut the bottom and I used springs etc. to hold everything together. I was friends with the original owner and she gave my wife the car. She passed at 92. I got the kit from Canada.

      Don P. Don the kit on this car was a factory option piece straight from Chevrolet. The kit you speak of was one of the plethora of aftermarket versions available. OEM Continental kits were very expensive options, and the majority of folks installed aftermarket kits after purchase.
      This car rolled off the assembly line with said kit installed. The benefit of the factory kits was that it would match whatever style wheels you chose. Hence why they were so expensive. Finding one of these today would be like finding a unicorn, and would command equally impressive value. Hope this helps.

    I'm sorry Lou, but Ken Nagle is full of crap. Single color (not two-tone) convertibles were made in 1956 (and '55 & '57), although in seemingly smaller numbers than their two-tone counterparts. They are not often seen. It's even likely that there are restored/repainted '56 convertibles originally single color that now sport a two-tone paint scheme. There are '56 convertibles (original & restored) with their original cowl tag in place which decode to a single color. While it's true that Inca Silver was a '57 color, it was first a 'spring' color for '56. Other colors crossed over from '56 to '57. His suggestion that the original owners got special treatment for a '57 only color is also false. Lastly, there is no way to prove that his convertible was the only one painted Inca Silver as Chevrolet simply didn't maintain any documentation to how many cars were built BY COLOR, at that time. He is either a self-promoter or woefully ignorant when it comes to what is documented & provable to the tri-five chevys. Cowl Tag reading & decoding on Tri-fives has been an area of special interest to me for the past ten+ years. I don't deny it's a beautiful car.

      +Scott S (Fretsalot) Hi Scott, Regarding your comments about Ken (full of crap & Self Promoter), I've met Ken several times and I can say for a fact, he's not a self Promoter, and his cars that I've seen are all Award Winners of the highest caliber. When Ken allows me to video one of his cars, I'm super appreciative to share with you and the other Viewers. On this channel your allowed to have an opinion (as long as there's no vulgarity, I'm running a G Rated show), and I welcome your knowledge. Please share details on how you know the information your sharing. Thanks for viewing. Take care, Lou

      +Lou Costabile - Hi Lou, I will admit my comments and my... attack?... is a little strong, and for that I apologize. There are referential documents which show what colors (single or two tone) were available (amongst many other features & details) on which models of '56 (in this example). Chevrolet even used to provide these free of charge upon request, but I'm to understand they stopped doing that a few years ago. I have some of the Chevrolet provided documentation, that I requested when I got my first tri-five (a '56 Belair HT). Other sources have provided their own synopsis of the Chevrolet documentation. CLARIFICATION: Chevrolet did not provide that documentation on a car specific (VIN) basis until later years. I've seen it said too many times their records do not go back that far to substantiate any claims about an individual car. That was also my experience when I contacted them about my first '56. But GM of Canada which also built some of these cars (will have a Canadian specific VIN & cowl tag) have slightly better documentation to these cars. In my years reading cowl tags, I've seen two original Onyx black '56 convertibles, one Matador red one, and an unrestored blue one (which blue I'm not remembering in this moment). I've also seen photos of a white (India Ivory) convertible claiming to be restored to original, but I've not seen the cowl tag for that car. Another respected source of information is the book 'Chevrolet by the Numbers' ('55-'59) by Alan Colvin. Besides Colvin's own research with respected authorities to the same, he shows much of the same information/documentation which Chevrolet made available (mentioned earlier).

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Scott S (Fretsalot) Hi Scott, Apology accepted. You shared that you did not see the tag, and I usually like to video the tag (as well as any badging) on the car as I like to leave the videos as a historical legacy. Thanks for your 2nd comment and appreciate you sharing your knowledge & story too! Lou

    • @gotta56forme
      @gotta56forme 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Lou Costabile - I can accept that Mr Nagel's cowl tag likely supports the solid Inca Silver 'birth' color code. I would expect it to say '752' as documented from the Autocolor library website for '56 Chevrolet colors, specifically the 'spring colors' update page: images.tcpglobal.com/chips/1956-Chevrolet-pg03.jpg
      Thank you for your replies and for your contributions to providing content on YT that a carnut like me enjoys.

      For the record I am the original owner who worked on the car and I installed the continental kit. I have the original pictures before the restoration. Mrs. carney and her husband were on a medical seminar in Tarrytown and were at the factory when it was made. The on line worker told her it was the only one they ever painted all inca silver and since they only had a few more to be built before the '57s went on line they told her they were going to put the chevrons on in reverse to designate it one of a kind and special. When I removed the back seat I found the original build sheet. Also this 92 year old woman had no reason to lie about anything especially since she gave the car to me in exchange for a $200.00 roof I installed on her carriage house in Montclair N.J. I added the other chrome options and the rear antennae was a dealer add on. I remember I did do some cutting of the rear tire cover and it was held on with springs etc.

      Lou I think he is asking why it didn't have 56 on the paint code on trim tag. Because the owner said if it was a 1957 car the trim tag paint code would have a 57. His tag had a 52. I hope this helps you. Kinda of a lengthy explaination. Sorry. Lol!!
