Great mod buddy, thanks for sharing! it did surprisingly well for such an inexpensive 2 axis gimbal. very cool! keep up the good work you two. Love the content you guys put out....great father and son team. :)
Great vid! I have a bugs3 (my first drone even against the advice of some forums) and had a fair amount of practice and filming now. The one gripe I have had with the standard mount (and therefore the clear advantage of your mod for me) is that the ground clearance is too high. Moving the go pro further down means that there is no interruption in the shot of any blades, legs, or guards and makes it much more natural for filming.
go cheap or go home, but seriously, who says its just for a cheap drone , it applies to all drones nimrod, not only that if the footage is good them mission accomplished right ? ok nubs
hey great video! How did you connect the gimbal's power cable to the jst male connector? Since the jst male connector has 3 wires and the gimbal's power cable has only two wires!
Great mod. Image quality is pretty decent but it is a bit bulky. I wonder if you could mount one of those EIS cube cameras onto it like the Runcam or something similar
This video is exactly what I want to do, however I'm intimidated by the custome installation and the sodering😕. I'd love to do this with the aosenma cgo35 cause it has gps. Have you flown that drone?
You're on to a good thing there. However, Having taken off the battery box, you might be better moving the battery backwards a little and mounting the camera at the front (using the battery displacement to ballance the extra weight of the gimbal). That way the legs will be OK as they are and you can use the anti jellow mounting rubbers too. Nice work, Paul :)
Hi guys. Can i use a 3s 11.1v battery lipo battery to power up both my bugs3h and gimbal? Operating volts of my gimbal is at 11.1v to 14.8v but I'm not sure if its safe for my drone. The bat im using for my drone is the default 7.4v by mjxrc.
Thank you for this information. I'll be mounting it a bit different plus i mounted zip tie loops on the landing legs for more clearance and super soft landings. Again, thanks to u and your cool son! Steve, from south Bavaria/Germany
Hi just curious,if where can you buy those carbon fiber.plate?is it customized or can buy it online?appreciate if u could reply thnx in advance!im from the Philippines btw..
One of my friends made some for me, but unfortunately, I sold them all and don't have any left. My suggestion would be to either 3D print something or see if you can make something with foam core. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Ready Set Drone well if you are willing to make another one im willing to pay. i would love 2 of them honestly. you have the perfect setup i want i have 5200mah 50 battery that gives me about 25 min flight time each but its alot larger our factory by 2X in length and thicker.
Thanks. No - I never did a follow up. But I did use it a fair amount and it works well. The biggest challenge on this set up is no GPS. Hoping someone comes out with a GPS version of the Bugs3! There are some good/cheap GPS drones out there, but most don't have the power that the Bugs3 has. Thanks for watching!
Ready Set Drone you bet. You and your family are fun to watch test drones. I'm new to the hobby but I own the bugs 3 and I love it. Isn't the bugs 2 kind of the bugs 3 with GPS and mounted camera? I guess it is probably different and meant to compete with the Hubsan 501s. Looking forward to the drawing on Saturday. Take care
You are exactly right. The Bugs 2 is actually a bit easier to fly than the Bugs 3 - lower profile - similar to the Hubsan 501S like you said. Thanks and hope to see you on Saturday!
Hi, thx for sharing, but the drone is moving too much to evaluate any cinematic abilities of this gimbal, and to know if it was well worth the money (cause it’s not cheap and result seems to be not as expected for this)
I have that same gimbal lol, I am currently attempting to put it on a handheld selfie pole that has a USB slot on it. Hopefull the USB slot can power it, I really do not know what I am doing but I am learning. Thank you for the video.
It's funny, I though the 2g gimbal would fit to the bugs 3 without anything else and it actually did! With the G-2d gimbal comes a white bar that can easily screw on the surface of the battery with 3 screws, and that's it, no need of carbon surface or tubes, it's amazing how it fits well! Sure thing if it wasn't for this video I would have not even tried! I still can't believe it!
Bas Goonie When you say screw on the surface of the battery, you meant the under belly/bottom of the battery holder? I just picked up a Bugs 3 and attempting to do this same modification.
I have attached that gimbal with eken action cam. to Hubsan h501s it was great , now I have lighter Camera mini-mobius ,how can we set gimbal to accept as it didn’t recognize this low weight ?!!
The drag created by all of that clunk actually accounts for more battery power than simply its weight. This is especially true at higher speeds. You could definitely get excellent footage in 7 minutes though
Not bad at all considering no anti vibe mounts would be a killer if it had some sort vibration mounting. It shows it really bad when fighting the wind other wise pretty nice now put a 3s battery on it and lets see what it does.
HI there! i just wanted to ask everytym my Bugs 3 takes off it keeps moving backwards, and sometimes it moves to any directions even if there is no control given on it.. i read the manual that it needs to adjust the so called trimmer? I did adjust and i have no idea if im doing it right.. and once again i did test flight but still the same.. Much appreciated if you give me some tips or make some videos on how to adjust the remote control trimmers.. Thank you!
Are you making sure it is level when you turn it on? if it is not level when you turn it on, it won't fly correctly. Try setting it on a flat surface before you turn it on and see if that helps!
yes i did turn it on, on a Flat level sir.. but it still the same.. i did adjust the remote controls trimmer but i guess it missed up badly.. and i have no idea what i did..
Is there something causing the center of gravity to be off? Maybe the battery is not sitting where it should be? Also, make sure you are not near alot of metal - that can cause interference with your radio. Hope you get it sorted out. The Bugs 3 is amazing and I hate to hear that it's not working well for you!
Hi there! sorry my Bad! I was just a terrible pilot for this drone, i did practice for 2 weeks and now i manage to take off and fly it well.. :) And yes it is really amazing now that i knw how to fly this great drone! thanks for the info sir..
BTW, i have one more question sir, can i used GoolRC B3 Lipo 2S-3S Battery Balance Charger 7.4-11.1V with this Drone? i think my stock battery keeps the light indicator green everytym i try to charge, it supposed to be red when charging..
Would you be so kind to explain me how to connect gimball to the battery? Gimbal has got JST plug but Balance Plug Power for gimbal from your link doesnt have JST socket ;(
You have to cut the JST cable on the gimbal and solder to a balance connector. There are 3 wires on the balance connector. In my case, it was the brown and black ones that worked.
Hi, were you able to make this work? I cut the gimbal's JST cable and connected it to the suggested balance connector, red to red & black to either black, but the gimbal didn't work.
Thanks for your response Kamil! I did not solder the wires yet, I just tried twisting the wires first to check which black cable works. Both didn't work. Will it not work if I just twisted the wires together?
Hello! how are you, very good video I tell you that I recently bought that drone and I bought that gimbal, but I have not found any video that teaches to install it. Might you help me? : '(I just got the gimbal g 2d and I can not do anything. Thank you
So you use the balance plug from the battery to power the gimbal. You will also need some kind of plate (could be made of almost anything) to mount the gimbal on. Once you have those things, it's a pretty easy process.
My Bugs 3 will be here this Wednesday. Are y'all still selling these carbon fiber plates? BTW love your channel. Can't wait to get my hands on this quad!
You say you didn't use the rubber mounts due to them making the camera too low. May I ask why you chose those massive standoffs? Is the battery really that thick? Personally I wouldn't like my camera kissing the dirt when it lands. I'm assuming you have no control of the gimbal during flight, that's a shame. It appear the legs on your bugs have extensions. The legs I have are much shorter, but I did find a great after market cradle for the bugs. You simply sit the bugs on the unit and there are clamps which go around each leg and it gives a much taller area to mount a gimbal. Well worth the $38 AUD I paid for them. Once it arrives I'll be checking how the fixed gimbal is mounted and then I'll try fitting the cheap BangGood gimbal.
I think this bird exceeds the .55 lb limit even without a cam mounted (I have one). It's SO hard to find a good cameraman. Lucky! ;-) P.S....You can turn off the blue and white arm lights for more run time.
Thanks! Unfortunately, we are out of the plates. But it's not too hard to come up with something else that works...you just need a way to hold the battery in. Thanks again!
Your son is an impressive cameraman and commentator. Great work.
Great mod buddy, thanks for sharing! it did surprisingly well for such an inexpensive 2 axis gimbal. very cool! keep up the good work you two. Love the content you guys put out....great father and son team. :)
Thanks!
Brilliant, gonna do this mod. The Lipo lead has 3 wires. What connects to what as the balance plug is really intended for charging, not as a supply?
Great vid! I have a bugs3 (my first drone even against the advice of some forums) and had a fair amount of practice and filming now. The one gripe I have had with the standard mount (and therefore the clear advantage of your mod for me) is that the ground clearance is too high. Moving the go pro further down means that there is no interruption in the shot of any blades, legs, or guards and makes it much more natural for filming.
does this work with every 12V gimbal or just the shown one? As far as i know it operates between 7,4-28V?
Now thats just impressive. $90 quad and a $70 gimbal. Add a gopro and a bit of work with you're soldering iron and you're all set :)
go cheap or go home, but seriously, who says its just for a cheap drone , it applies to all drones nimrod, not only that if the footage is good them mission accomplished right ? ok nubs
Do you have any photos of the Carbon Fiber plate with the stock battery? Any improvements?
Hey would you recommend this setup for the hubsan h501s?
Have you tried a mod for Bugs 5W with same gimbal? Do you think it will work?
hey how'd you wire the gimbal power wires to the 2s balance plug? need help so i can do the same thing with mine. Thanks!
hey great video!
How did you connect the gimbal's power cable to the jst male connector?
Since the jst male connector has 3 wires and the gimbal's power cable has only two wires!
Great Video I'd like to put one on my hubsan x-4 pro. Thanks Rich
What is battery capacity for you to power up the gimbal & bugs?
Grab some pvc maybe 1/2 inch. Cut small pieces and glue them on the bottom to give clearance for the gimbals. Great video! Thumb up.
to heavy and not soft
Is there two plugs on the battery? Is that how you powered the drone and the gimble?
hi nice video , What is bugs 3 filght time with gimball flight time . (with standart bugs battery)
What is the connectors used on this battery? I was wondering if I can use a balance charger. Thanks
You're on to a good thing there. Hi guys. Can i use a 3s 11.1v battery lipo battery to power up both my bugs3h and gimbal? Operating volts of my gimbal is at 11.1v to 14.8v but I'm not sure if its safe for my drone. The bat im using for my drone is the default 7.4v by mjxrc.
does the gimbal add a lot of excessive weight, considering its plastic? I have an aluminum gimbal that seems to be a bit to much for my f100
The plastic gimbal is not heavy at all.
how do I order this carbon fiber plate?
Hello I have a b3pro c6000 and i purchased a gimbal... Any suggestions how to connect it?
Please mount a go pro hero 7 black and test the time duration of flight with go pro hero 7 black..
Hey. Would you know if you could run the gimble off a separate 1s battery? Might get a slightly longer flight time?
Yes, you could, as long as it had the right connector and is the right voltage.
Do you have any way to pitch the gimbal while flying? Or do you know of a transmitter to do this?
That's awesome! Btw, does it cost $ to register your drone with the FAA?
Do you know if this would be to heavy to put on UDI U818A FPV
Have a look at my mod for my Bayangtoys X16, can be adopted to any quad.
is there a difference between b3 bugs and bugs 3 or they are just the same???.. thank you for your answers
I don't think there is. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Sir ! I have learned a lot from your video.
Thank you for this information. I'll be mounting it a bit different plus i mounted zip tie loops on the landing legs for more clearance and super soft landings.
Again, thanks to u and your cool son! Steve, from south Bavaria/Germany
Would you still happen to have carbon fiber plates for the bugs 3 gimbal build
No, sorry. They sold out pretty quickly!
What is your advice since I have already ordered the Gimbal? Can I attach it to the battery box already attached to the drone and make that work?
I was thinking for FPV you could use the Walkera iLook+ in that gimbal, without any extra weight.
Are plates still available
You're really great... errr... I mean the two of you. Very educational and understandable. Thanks for your great videos
Hey could I purchase frame and rods to attach to bugs3 from you? I really love how it looks and how you did it. Beyond perfect!
Sorry to say we only made a few and they have all been sold.
Ready Set Drone well if you are willing to make another one im willing to pay. i would love 2 of them honestly. you have the perfect setup i want i have 5200mah 50 battery that gives me about 25 min flight time each but its alot larger our factory by 2X in length and thicker.
really helpful set-up for my first drone! now i just need to save up for one of the big brand drones. fantastic content.
Great video! Can you do one of these for the aosenma Cg035?
Is it possible to install 3-axis gimbal on this model?
Awesome. Could you do this to a bugs b5w? (and how?)
Matt Superfisky do you install any gimbal at your bugs b5w?
Is it possible to add a gimbal to a contixo f17 ? Love the channel !!
Good job. Is there a followup to this video with other modifications you made to the gimbal mount? Again, good job.
Thanks. No - I never did a follow up. But I did use it a fair amount and it works well. The biggest challenge on this set up is no GPS. Hoping someone comes out with a GPS version of the Bugs3! It's more shaky than I was expecting... wonder why.

Hi, do you happen to know whats the carrying capability for this drone?
I don't have a number, but I know it will carry the GoPro Hero 4 and a gimbal without much difficulty.
Great idea i just ordered a bugs 3 drone and i would like to get in touch with you thanks again
It's funny, I though the 2g gimbal would fit to the bugs 3 without anything else and it actually did! Bas Goonie When you say screw on the surface of the battery, you meant the under belly/bottom of the battery holder? I just picked up a Bugs 3 and attempting to do this same modification.
Hi, my question is, can I put a gimbal on a jjpro epik 5?
ok. thanks for the response. You guys are awesome!
so you turned this into a 3dr solo?
A manual 3DR solo
Will the bugs 3 hold a gopro hero 5?
I have attached that gimbal with eken action cam. to Hubsan h501s it was great , now I have lighter Camera mini-mobius ,how can we set gimbal to accept as it didn’t recognize this low weight ?!!
The drag created by all of that clunk actually accounts for more battery power than simply its weight. This is especially true at higher speeds. You could definitely get excellent footage in 7 minutes though
can you do a video showing how to put an fpv camera in place of the head light?
Good video, thanks. It's helpful for me with my plan to put a gimbal on my drone
Not bad at all considering no anti vibe mounts would be a killer if it had some sort vibration mounting. It shows it really bad when fighting the wind other wise pretty nice now put a 3s battery on it and lets see what it does.
mate this doesn't work on 3s lol
I’m getting major vibration on my rig. Bugs3 with plastic gimbal. Gimbal works great but vibrates when in flight even with the rubber dampeners.
Am trying to put a different gimble on my mavic 2 pro any ideas ?
HI there! i just wanted to ask everytym my Bugs 3 takes off it keeps moving backwards, and sometimes it moves to any directions even if there is no control given on it.. i read the manual that it needs to adjust the so called trimmer? Where did you buy the velcro strap??
You can get them on Amazon.
Hey dude, is it possible to add Walkera G2D to MJX B2W or 2C? Thanks for great vids.
Probably not because they don't have landing gear - they land on their belly, so there would be no place for the gimbal and/or camera to hang.
Does anyone happen to know the best & most lightweight 12v battery to use on a gimbal?
Would like to see the video of the your first flight with the mavic.
This is the review that has inspired me to do this same mod.
Kamil Putoń yes
Hi, were you able to make this work? I cut the gimbal's JST cable and connected it to the suggested balance connector, red to red & black to either black, but the gimbal didn't work.
Yes and everything works well. there are two black cables - try to solder another one ;)

So can u control the angel by remote control?
My englisch is not good but i have a question .can the drone flight high ? Ore is the cam and the gimbal too big ,and bring the drone down ?
It can fly high, but with no GPS, I would not go too high!
if the drone fly too high and the wind is too strong, the drone can fly away....
i would like to purchase a carbon plate, i can't seem to figure out the messaging on here?
Can i put this gimbal to jjrc epic?
Just the info I was looking for....Thanks!
How to make the gimbal pitch or roll??
Awesome just what i needed. Thank you.
Great vid!
Any way to control the gimbal/camera during flight?
You can use the GoPro app to control the camera, but not the gimbal. It is "set it and forget it". Thanks for watching!
how much dose the drone cost.
Hello! how are you, very good video
I tell you that I recently bought that drone and I bought that gimbal, but I have not found any video that teaches to install it.

We ran out of the carbon fiber plates. Sorry. But you should be able to use a piece of plastic or even thick cardboard to hold the battery. in place.
Amazing innovation! Is it possible to buy the plate from you?
Thanks!
+Rambling Hypocrite I don't have any more. Sorry! But it is pretty easy to make one.
that awesome !!! just got my bugs 3 and im planning to try that set up :)
can use it on b2w???
You say you didn't use the rubber mounts due to them making the camera too low. May I ask why you chose those massive standoffs? Is the battery really that thick? Personally I wouldn't like my camera kissing the dirt when it lands. I'm assuming you have no control of the gimbal during flight, that's a shame. Once it arrives I'll be checking how the fixed gimbal is mounted and then I'll try fitting the cheap BangGood gimbal.
Thanks for the comment. Yes - the battery is that thick, so the long standoffs are necessary.
what wires did you connect to the balance plug the three wires
It was a cable that I pulled of a wall charger for a 2S battery. If you have a 2S charger, you can just snip the cable and use that.
Ready Set Drone yes that's what I have I cut the charger wire and it's three wires brown blue and black
Ready Set Drone what wires do I connect to the red and black one on the jst connector that came with the gimbal
I sent you pictures to your main Facebook page
I would like to see you do a video on the Autel x-star Premium
Great Gentlemen 👍👍👍
I like this because as you say you can wifi the GoPro and there is no GPS to interfere with.
I think this bird exceeds the .55 lb limit even without a cam mounted (I have one).
It's SO hard to find a good cameraman. Lucky! ;-)
P.S....You can turn off the blue and white arm lights for more run time.
Just what I was looking to do with my B3!! Great informative video. Subd.
how much does a gimbal affect the flight time
Probably 25% less flight time with the gimbal.
Great 👍🏽 job.
Great video! Super useful. If you are still selling those plates, I'd be happy to buy one from you guys.
Thanks! Unfortunately, we are out of the plates. But it's not too hard to come up with something else that works...you just need a way to hold the battery in. Thanks again!
Thanks really helpful! I really enjoy your mavic videos as well!
An interesting modification
Nice video, my next mod for the 506G.
is that astro turf?
Yes! Best backyard grass ever!
We need to download any app to control this GIMBAL....?
No, the gimbal does not need an app.
how would you do this to a hubs an h5o1s?
It would be difficult because the Hubsan does not have a mount on the bottom like the Bugs 3.
okthanks! :)
Could you put a glob of hot melt glue on the bottom of each leg of the landing gear and then drimel them off to the same height?
That would probably work just fine!
Awesome video I might do that
