@@TomAskjem.LostHorizons Can I trouble you. I've been doing a great deal of glass research since they found all the glass jars filled with berries at George Washington home. I had no idea that Jamestown had the first factory. Anyhow I can't seem to find any videos on making bottles, vases yes but I'm just wanting to see the different molds and materials. Can you help
Hi Tom. Love watching your digs. When I was a child I would explore & dig my great grandma's back yard. Consider coming to Waukesha WI. We have a rich history of healing springs & had 2 old bottling companies which still stand & have been repurposed.
Hey Tom and Crew! Great dig! I am glad you found the Mackall bottle and that primitive looking gin bottle was cool! Oh and just so you know, if you don't mind me saying, that most folks(whether it is wrong or not, I am sorry) pronounce Claret like it rhymes with carrot, the T is not silent! Anyway, great dig and I look forward to your next one! Be safe!!!
Omg!! I thought our winter in UK had started as had some freezing weather last wk and a dusting of snow but nothing like what your digging in. No matter what snow, wind, rain or shine you always take us along and we learn so much from your awesome videos so a massive thank you from across the pond ❤
Love watching you dig these pits and seeing what comes out. I too love digging but most of have been old trash piles. I especially like the area near where my granddaddy lived. His house was one he was raised up in and also the house his granddaddy built c. 1830. Anything l find plowed up where the rain has revealed it, be it pottery, china, grass etc. I collect, wash it and place in jars to display as part of our history. I also found the junk pile his parents used. It was fun just to see what they threw away, finding old bottles, porcelain, crock pieces, jugs etc. and found yellow ware and some red ware pieces l am saving. I would love to see the yellow ware and other pieces you put back together. Thanks for sharing Tom.
You did very well again...The case gin is always a good time. The rest of the treasures were awesome 😎💯 The teal/green Moorhead Minnesota is a bucket lister.
I never really liked puzzles but l love putting together old pottery, china etc. even old papers back together especially those that have something to do with my family. My granddaddy's house has been in the same family since it was built c. 1830 so anything l find in the old junkpile, out in the fields l collect as part of my family history. Crazy it seems I also love family history that too is a puzzle.
I grew up on an 1878 homestead site out in the country. The frame house I grew up in on the property was built in 1898. I started exploring the woods as a kid and found the old trash dump and later found out about outhouse digging.
@@TomAskjem.LostHorizonsMakes perfect sense. I've stumbled upon bottles and jars scattered from years ago but not really old but I just have a thing for anything glass and if it's green all the better.
SWEET!!! That was just great you dug some grèat pieces for sure, way to go Tom, I love those dark gin botts you can see paddle work on those long sides, that green pharmacy bott was awesome too, then the small pitt surprised me shallow but got a hutch how cool was that made that little dig worth the trouble, I remember your video when you dug up all those Hutchisons up with the excavator I believe that's the one your talking about, what a blast that was for yall, well good no great vid I love the 1870s and 1880s botts just dont happen enough ugh bud have a good week man
Always fun to go digging with you. Never knowing is half the excitement. Let's do it again soon. I hope your holidays are off to a good start and you got a good turkey dinner! Time to start decking the halls🎄🎀🎁❄☃. Happy digging!
Another interesting pit - great variety and that beautiful little teal coloured bottle. I always look forward to your videos Tom and the window they provide into America’s social history.
What a great dig! Like you said that family must have had money! Looks like kids liked to pass the time by breaking things down in the outhouse hole. Glad you have been able to dig this late and in dry pits. Have a good one and keep on digging!
Hi Tom,never seen a teal medicine bottle,& a hand painted marble wow !Stay safe out there, nice video! Thanks for taking us along to watch you do all the hard work!lol
Really good dig with many interesting pieces. Love the pieces with colors and patterns. Hope you can put the piece with the red pattern back together. Watching you dig is a great way to unwind now that Thanksgiving company has left.
Another great one. This this one was also fun. Nice Moorhead bottles. Lot of chatter in the background on this video. Not complaining just the first time I've ever heard it. Hope you're doing well. Happy late Thanksgiving and early merry christmas.😊
This is one of my favorite videos of yours, the first pit you dug here was so neat with the variety of finds! I enjoy all your videos as well. Happy digging from South Dakota! 😃
ANOTHER GREAT VID TOM!! CONGRATS ON THE GOODIES!!!! 👍 GET YOURSELF A DECENT DTECTOR AND HUNT THAT DIRT AS IVE PULLED MANY A SILVER COIN AND A FEWW GOLD ONES OUT OF THE SPOILES!!! 👌👌
Hi Tom. I don't know what you do with the broken bottles but check out SiFinds from The UK. He is mudlarking and if a special bottle misses the top, he cuts it down to be used as a glass or a tea light holder or something....
Nice you were able to score some 'hometown' bottles. It always gives me a little surprise how ornate the tableware and other items were. I guess a little color would be appreciated in an otherwise untamed landscape. That small dark green bottle was a real beaut!! Great find.
Man, I thought you got hurt or something when your other channel stopped uploading. I just checked it out and saw it got taken from you. I'm glad you're okay and have switched my sub to this one! Keep digging, dude.
I was just thinking about how really wealthy this family had to have been to have lovely porcelain and glassware. I then started picturing the last woman to hold the glass pitcher and thinking how different she would have looked and been dressed.
Amazing that the ground wasn’t frozen yet for this one! Also, did folks have other rubbish dumps back in the day other than outhouses? In Ohio folks would dump their trash in the ravines, so you can still find larger items such as old stoves, etc that didn’t wash down stream. Are those still around in ND or MN?
We used to dig on the Moorhead side, along the Red, (1975) across from Fargo's police department and find bottles everywhere. Brass cow bell, all sorts of stuff.

hi Tom that teal pharmacy is a real good one. I have only dug two emerald pharmacy bottles in 54 years of digging. hay, good luck.
It’s the first whole green one I’ve dug. Found the top to one in Omaha in 2017
Honestly appreciate the history lessons each post. I absolutely had no idea that folks threw things down their put-house holes, no idea.

Your knowledge of vintage glass and pottery is fantastic! How did you begin excavating outhouse pits? Enjoyed the video!

Best pit I’ve seen you dig. Amazing and interesting array of finds.
That green Moorhead is epic! Wicked hutch! Amazing dig Tomster!
A lot of finds, so many broken. But one real good gem though! Brrr winter has found the Dakotas, and area.

Too bad so much was broken...What was all the background noise? Still a great dig!

Wow! I've never seen you squirrel away a bottle while digging. It must have been special.

My favorite find was the tiny flower pot

That's interesting, I've not heard that anywhere? But I was successful.
