  • Flight check-in has been suspended at Hong Kong International Airport for a second consecutive day because of anti-government protests.
    The airport, which is one of the world's busiest, has been the site of protests for five consecutive days.
    Videos on social media show passengers struggling to get through demonstrators, who have been sitting inside blocking departures.
    The city's leader, Carrie Lam, earlier issued a fresh warning to protesters.
    Ms Lam said Hong Kong had "reached [a] dangerous situation" and that violence during protests would push it "down a path of no return".
    As crowds continued to gather, Hong Kong airport officials announced that all check-ins were suspended from 16:30 local time (10:30 GMT) on Tuesday.

    Peaceful demonstration? Why is it that the black man beat the Passenger with lynching tonight, was beaten for two hours in a coma, blocked the rescue team for a few hours, and now the life-threatening thing is not reported?

      The Chinese government should resolve the violent demonstrations as soon as possible! I saw thugs beating police and even biting off their fingers. If this happens in the United States, the mob can be killed immediately. It was a serious breach of the rule of law and an assault on the police. The unreasonable demands of the mob are absurd

Hong Kong should be grateful for what they have, other countries don't event come close. I am not saying it can't be better. But there are times you should know your limit, unsure if this is one of those times.
      But physically attacking regular citizens who don't share the same or agree with their views are wrong. That's not democracy or a peaceful protest.

People are too afraid to be Chinese or do not admit themselves as it. I am not saying the rioters are right to harm others, (not to say the rumour that police are pretending the black shirt rioters, destroying around and make all people blame their act, )but please also be aware of the original wish of these people and those do not stand out. For example, the law in China states that the suspender need to find the prove themselves and support he did not do a crime. But in HK, law states that prove should be found to support a person have done a crime. The mode is totally different. I think it is correct that no one has absolute freedom, but the so called freedom they are fighting for is the law but not any other absolute freedom. (sign... As you know, China are strict to the citizens that against their government even with words or behaviours. If someday people or my family are extradited to China with any unreasonable excuse and being judged, they will really have no way but accept at that time.

My children are terrified and they were advised not to exit hotel to eat so had to spend 840 HKdollars on a few burgers. If we have to purchase new tickets they are obscenely expensive. 2 million people have come out to the street on 16 June, that is one third of the entire population in Hong Kong. However, Carrie Lam decided not to give a damn. People are so angry because people have died because of it. One lady got shot in the eye with rubber bullet on Sunday that will cause permanent blindness. While I think the brutal force used by the police was completely incorrect and barbaric, I certainly wouldn’t be a happy passenger if I was missing my flight due to protests at an airport. See, nothing wrong with people expressing their anger, and for a good cause. But there is a line which you can’t cross, and that is when the protests disrupt other operations. And the airlines and passengers have to bear the brunt of it and it will result in a loss of money. But, then again, who am I to try and criticize them?

  • @stevenwong55
    @stevenwong55 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What if you protesters are stopping someone that has to urgently fly out of HK because their family member died, have to attend a funeral, a surgeon needing to fly home to work to go save lives, or parents missing their children's wedding because you caused the airport to shut down. Fight for a right and protest, but don't screw up everyone else's business to be heard. It's bloody selfish. The majority supports your right but over time you will lose the support. Find another way to protest and get your message out without disrupting people that have families to feed.
