      Get over it! The territory is NOT your country. The territory belongs to China. If you enjoy being ruled and humiliated by the UK, go live there. Mainland Chinese don't want coffin home dwellers on their land.

  • @kingoftrash461
    @kingoftrash461 2 ปีที่แล้ว +47

    "99 years" yes there was a 99 year lease on a majority of the territory, however the original colony of Hong Kong was taken from the Qing "in perpetuity" meaning they had no obligation to give it back. ever. the reason they did is that the brits wouldn't be able to protect it from a power half a world away. The UK wasn't at it's height anymore, this was the post world war world, and the UK had fallen from the main world power to second player to the US in their cold war.

    I'm a Mainlander, but have lived in Hong Kong and sympathize with the Hong Kongers. However, may I point out that many Hong Kongers, understandably, have a blanket hatred toward all Mainlanders. Again I totally understand where they are coming from, but their hostile actions are alienating so, so many freedom-loving Mainlanders like me. Especially in the US, most Mainlanders who have lived in the US for over 10 years sympathize with the Hong Kongers, but when we actually encounter them, when they see the spelling of our names, they can tell where we are from and immediately I feel hostility. This is so, so sad.

      I understand that racism too. RTHK’s Headline News brought that to light ever since the handover. A lot of HKers just see the smuggling, the “pharmacies” sprung up everywhere, the 雙飛, the 北姑, it’s disgusting, slowly corrupting the culture. The culture master himself 王霑, has a love for China, but love isn’t the issue, it’s how China raised its people. A people with no regard or care for the greater good. I get it that not everyone in China has no culture, but the ones that has culture in China are afraid to speak up. 😢for the people who struggle in China, and spoke up at the A4 revolution.

      They have no one but themselves to blame, too. These protesters were a bunch of foolish pawns being used by QAnon-lined organizers having them carry out provocation against mainlanders and people of color under the name of lawful act of staging a protest. Trump abandoned Hong Kong, and these protesters are still not getting it. They protested against their own interests at the end of the day. If you ask any reasonable person out there, they'd tell you that if people are really virulently anti-CCP, you've done business with the CCP yourself. Take Ivanka's trademarks for example.

    Basically HK is like a port with 2 moms. England is the stepmom, while China is the birth mom. HK had people living there for thousands of years, but the biggest player was Guangzhou. Ever since Qin. They’ve gone through wars, famines, changes of power in Dynasties, even academies were more mainly from Guangzhou. Also tea trade. But Opium trade was shipped to many ports, one of them was HK. I mean the unequal treaties was a way the Brits can get tea for cheap and Opium selling like wildfire. I mean, the Brits earlier on was like a kidnapper. Basically raising a gun demanding money and land. It wasn’t until the 60s that HK really became a baby to Britain and China. HK, if you watch Anita’s Rouge, early HK was filled with drug dealing and prostitution and there wasn’t much order and good livelihood in HK. But the good thing about late Qing HK and KMT era HK was although a disorderly HK, people could hustle, people could do a lot of things they couldn’t do in China, still do to this day. Dr. Sun started his days in HK studying medicine as well. After the 60s, Britain and China saw the benefit of HK, and it’s that HK could become the eye to business wth China. HK was the exception to the rule. So Britain is the stepmom who nurtured HK to influence China, the birth mom to see that it’s good to make friends with other people, and keep up with the times. Restraint is good, but sometimes, seeing what freedom can do can also expand your perception of what is perceived. And that’s what HK, is good for. It’s too bad China squashed that to the ground, just demolished. 😢
