I bought a used 2014 Smart fortwo a month ago and have been appreciating your maintenance videos. Here in Kansas, I haven't had a chance to drive in snow yet to see how the all season tire do. I have learned how to turn off traction control just in case, but then you lose ABS as well. Your video has me leaning towards getting winter tires for next winter. Thanks again for your helpful maintenance videos.
Ya the tires made a big difference , I now use them year round . I live in eastern Canada and in the country . They are worth the effort and don't cost much more than my other Continentals .
@normandgallant8106 the tires are only good up to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Any warmer than that and the tires have less traction than the summer tires. Something to think about.
Last April I had an unexpected funeral to go in Colorado. My tires on the rear were down to the wear indicators and snow was predicted on I-70 going over the pass. I was nervous about making it and ordered winter tires for the back. The tire arrived late, and on the morning I needed to leave so just threw them in the back, thinking I could install them in Colorado if I needed to. I gambled with the old tires and had 20 miles of icy snow packed roads with a strong crosswind. The Smart car however did very well and didn't once lose traction. Anyway, I have the winter tires mounted on there own set of wheels and can't wait to try them out this winter. I haven't bought winters for the front yet, but I thought I'd see how the rear ones do first.
I have new ContiProContact on my 2013 Passion and haven't had any issues getting around here in Iowa this winter. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well they work.
Ya my winter continental did the trick ...the latest and greatest . I live in Canada and used about four sets of tires . The continental unidirectionnal tires made a huge difference . I hope they keep making them cause I planning on another 200, 000 kms on my car . The best tires for a smart car , I now use them year round , they soffen the ride .
Sorry, I have no idea what the music is. It was one of those free songs that you can use through TH-cam without having to pay for rates. I’m sure if you use Shazam, you could probably find out what the song is.
Going uphill, you are good. Going downhill can be a different story, depending on angle and surface conditions (at least in Canadian winter); but overall, they perform sufficient enough for commuting.
Nice. Got in the snow once with my smart... man oh man.. that thing just went in little circles. Could not go forward. Bought winter tires bammm... no problemo.
Great video! More like these! Gives me confidence 😅
That’s kinda the point of this video. Thanks!

I’m glad the videos help you out. The winter tires make a night/day difference when on ice/snow. It’s totally worth the money.

@@KyleGer they are very sticky in the winter. Excellent traction. Drive better than my 4x4 with BF Goodrich KO2 tires which are 3PMSF rated.

Awesome, thanks for the video. I'm from Michigan and those tires would be best.
Excellent video.
What is the background music?
Greetings.

Is it safe to drive smart in winter time? Like this car, but I can't imagine if that's really ok for winter. Feels like gona fry during heavy wind
With the right tires, it was completely fine.
@SmartCarMaintenance do you have a picture of tread pattern google are showing two different ones I want the ones you have
ContiWinter Contact TS800.
That is the exact tire.
